Does DCL still require un-vaxxed children (under 5) to either stay on the ship or be on a DCL excursion when docked in Nassau? I know this can change, but was considering whether I should book an excursion to get off with 4 year old.

I spoke with a family who recently cruised and booked a DCL excursion to one of the beach things with lunch as they had a child under 12. They were a bit peeved in the fact they HAD to book an excursion due to having to remain in the bubble, yet when they got to their excursion they were joined with other cruise pax from other ships.. So basically they had to pay much more to stay in a bubble, that really wasnt a bubble.

Except other lines have the same or stricter testing standards (I know Celebrity requires EVERYONE to test within 72 hours) so the "cruise protocol bubble" still exists.

It is really a protocol bubble not a group bubble. Others on your voyage can go ashore on their own and mix and mingle yet sit in the WDT with you later, or at dinner.

It still controls the contact tracing lists for the Bahamian government for these excursions.

This isn't just Nassau or just Disney. I had a similar experience with a Celebrity cruise line excursion to a private beach in Aruba (it was actually cheaper than the walk-up price, so price wasn't an issue). The cruise line required sponsored excursions for unvaccinated children, and we had some on our tour (my party was all over 18). However, once we got there, there were passengers from 2 other ships, as well as local hotels and locals as well - so really it was no different than just wandering around the island? Our bus back to the ship was shared with another ship as well (both the same cruise line) which also confused me. We weren't too concerned for us, but it did make me wonder about the "bubble" excursions for kids and how well bubbled they actually were.

I just got off the 4 night Dream cruise Friday. Children still had to be on a Disney excursion at Nassau. Nassau requires masks be worn by everyone even in outdoor areas.
