names you HATE

I've never heard of these names being used for girls except for Taylor. But really, Darrell, James, Spencer, etc. for girls????

Yep. They have been on class rosters at my school. Those three I've only known one or two of, but if one or two of each have been at my school, I'm sure they aren't the only ones.

Michael, Blake and Tristan are listed on Social Security's site as in the top 1000 for girls through the 90s.

There have been, in the 2000s, 18,843 girls named Avery, 2,832 girls named Hayden, and 2,489 girls named Hunter. All used to be male names.

Then there are the names like Taylor (Skyler/Schuyler, Jaden, Montana, Dakota) that used to be more for boys, then moved steadily towards the girl side. Many of those aren't used often at all for boys anymore.

I really have no problem with those names, but just that I think there are so many pretty and feminine girl names, and so many fewer great boy names that kept getting "taken over".

I forgot to list the #1 names on my gag-list:

1. Madison. Overdone (and was a joke to begin with).

2. Hunter. Sorry, this is a dog's name whether you believe it or not.

'Kay I feel better now.

Oh, also edited to add I've also heard Ryan and Kyle for girls. :crazy2:

2 of our 3 girls have last names because we love them and think they are very trendy. Who says girls have to have lovely feminine sounding names? I think girls today have the right to have as strong sounding a name as any boy- and I'm no feminist!

I think I'm the only one that said that, and I didn't actually say they had to..........I said I like the feminine names as I have no girls myself, and think the traditional girl names are so beautiful. Perhaps if I had a girl, I'd want her to have a stronger name, I don't know.

:sad2: HATE :sad2:

is it necessary to use such a term?

dislike i understand, but hate is just plain awful, if you feel that badly about a name then so be it, you don't have to start a whole thread about it. And if you want to that's fine, just don't use the word hate.

My Daughter made this list:
Cody
Dakota
Tammy or Tammie
Jamie (for a girl)
Amber
Autumn
Anything spelled in a clever way
Cheyenne
Dustin
Kayla
Tristian
Troy

I'm not offended in any way, because why would i care what anyone thinks about what I named MY DD??

however i am just posting to say what many others have said, HATE is a very strong word and should not be used when talking about other people.

Just my opinion of course, but it's obvious many others agree.

i was going to walk away, but i saw this:

2. Hunter. Sorry, this is a dog's name whether you believe it or not.

at least stick to the fact that you dislike a name, but to go and type something like that?!?! WOW. That's just rude and distasteful.

That is my list, but I phrased as you suggested...names I don't like, not names I hate.

Yeah. ::yes:: We were lucky we ended up with two girls, because we had such a hard time deciding on boy's names. Many boys names I like are being used by girls as well, and dh wouldn't hear of that!

I've known girls named Hunter, Tyler, Sawyer, Blake, Ryan and Garrett.

It doesn't bother me so much when the random person uses a boys name for a girl, but it seems that more and more people do so and names sort of migrate from male to female. I've known several older men who would get very frustrated by the younger generation thinking they were women, based on their names, Gail, Lynn and Lindsey. Names like Taylor, Morgan and Jordan used to be used more for boys, but I think of them more as girl's names now.

It's fine for the girls, IMO, it just seems like such a pity for the boys.

2. Hunter. Sorry, this is a dog's name whether you believe it or not.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

My brother has a Hunter. Golden retriever. It's a perfectly good name for a golden.

When I was pregnant and sharing my name choices with a coworker, when I mentioned DD's name, she said, "That's a great name....for an Irish Setter!!!"

Of course, being pregnant and hormonal, I burst into tears.

Now I can laugh about it. :lmao: Actually, I laugh at her, not with her, because I'm appalled that someone at the age of 40 had never learned better manners. :sad2:

Ohh...I have another one.

Belinda

Name of the meanest girl ever on the elementary bus. I wonder what ever happened to her. I'm thinking she might have been on America's Most Wanted at some point, but I quit watching the show......

There aren't really any names, for boys or girls, that I particularly dislike, or indeed hate. I like my name - Emma :wave2: I can understand though why some people think it's a bit overused - it is, IMO too. There's even more Emma Louise's around - including me! :teeth:

:sad2: this thread is starting to become as offensive as my inlaws

Yea, it's too bad, people were being very polite until that comment. :sad2:

Personally, I've never met a dog named Hunter, but I have met dogs named Max, George, Lucy, Maddie, Dakota, Eric, Kip, Chloe, Mindy, Tyler, Taylor, Sid, Roger, Dana, Scotty, Kelsey and Mike. Guess those are all "dog's names", too. :rolleyes2 :rotfl:

Not names that I hate but names I dislike.........
Audrey
Melissa
Courtney
Mike
Carlos
Walter
Donovan
and I know there are more but these names are just not my cup of tea

Ok, I will bite. I dont' HATE any names, but have always strongly disliked my own...

now you have to put the first AND middle names together to understand how plain and yucky it sounds (but I guarantee it is not overused, lol) :)

BETH HELEN.

There, now you all know my deep dark secret. I hide my name combo, and in second grade LIED and told the class my middle name was Anne (sounded better to me). Beth Helen always sounded like an ill-covered sneeze.
Gazundheit! :lmao:

I'm not playing ... someone's bound to be offended and feelings are going to get hurt.

I'm with Daxx (and others on this). While there are many names that DH and I would NOT have considered, I would NEVER come out and say I hate them.

I don't hate any names. I dislike many of them, including my own and the stripper names DH likes for girl names, but I don't hate them.

I hate Thurston, Billoughby, and Cuthbert.

I may be wrong, but I don't think this person meant it as an insult. Just pointing out a fact that many dogs are named Hunter these days. I have seen several. In fact, when I took my dog to dog obedience, there were 3 dogs named Hunter in the class of about 10.

I don't really hate any names...well, maybe I do but I won't post them here! But I do dislike weird spellings of common names!
