2026 Winter Olympics/ My take

Think it could have been better, if they are going to show 4 hours of curling every night could they at least tell us how the scoring works. And was it Red Buttons who use to about bust out of his seat when someone made a great jump, could have used a little more life out of the announcers

Dick Buttons was the ice skating announcer who was very passionate about his commentary...if you were referring to ice skating.

I guess we don't have the right streaming services. We watched the Olympics on Peacock and it seemed that the coverage was just snippets and highlights of different events. Very disappointing. When I was home during the days I saw different events, and more of them, but I work for a living and can only watch TV in the evenings. I thought the coverage on Peacock was crap.

Peacock had access to like 3,000+ hours of stuff.

Do you mean you only watched stuff on the NBC channel? They showed stuff on several channels CNBC and USA as well.

The Peacock app on my Google smart TV had a tab on the left menu that was specifically for the Olympics. From there, we could select thr events we wanted to watch. Does your Peacock app have this option?

They removed that Olympics tab already but it was there during the Olympics. Personally I found using the computer website easier to go to that tab and search by sport then add to My Stuff and watch from there so I'd pull up the Peacock app on my fire stick after that. I'm still technically watching events and having it on My Stuff has made that easy.

Yep, and while NBC was doing a recap in the evenings, USA was rebroadcasting whole events.
On the note of USA… this is actually the first time since 1998 that a non-NBC network carried some form of Olympic coverage (USA is now owned by Versant and is completely distanced from NBC) although it was still NBC produced.

Comcast owns NBC, Comcast opted to spin off CNBC and USA and several others to a new company called Versant and then subsequently it became its own independent company which occurred only about a month before the Olympics.

It's not really like we're talking about a company who just purchased USA and several other channels. It's literally the parent company of them all who decided to spin certain channels off with the intent for it to be its own company.
