Old-fashioned names are very much in vogue right now. All of my daughter's friends have either an "old-fashioned" name or something trendy like all the Caden, Jaden, Hayden, Brayden, etc. names. Names that are very popular today like Ella, Sophia, Isabella, Ava, Olivia, etc. were all considered old-fashioned names when I was growing up.
My youngest is 4. Here is a list of some of her friends with "old-fashioned" names from preschool, church, play group, etc. with their ages beside their names:
Frances (3) sometimes called Franny
Sylvia (4), called Sylvie
Josephine (4), called Josie
Lillian (4), called Lily
Amelia (4)
Ruby (2)
Boys:
Charles (3), called Charlie
Miles (5)
George (2)
Personally, I love the names Josephine with Josie as a nickname, Audrey, and Miles and one of my favorite names is Amelia with a nickname of Mia. My 4 year old daughter has an old-fashioned name too (not any of the above) but her name is in the top 100 baby names on the Social Security list for last year so I think it's pretty common.
Names that I think are still outdated are names like Barbara, Shirley, Gladys, Peggy, Linda. These are names that were popular in the 30's -50's and just haven't had time to make a comeback yet in my opinion. Maybe we will have grandchildren or great-grandchildren with these names!
