Does anyone know if those guests with Magic Bands/FastPass+ will be able to get traditional paper FastPasses after they use the three FastPass+ they are alloted per day?

My husband and I will arriving in 17 days (YAHOO) and got the email the other day that we are eligible to be "testers". We figured why not and selected our Magic Bands and secured our FastPass+ "reservations". While I do admit it is pretty great to know we already have FastPasses for the big rides we want to do (especially during such a busy time)...I am a little concerned about the fact that we may very well not be eligible to get any more regular Fast Passes after we have used our FastPass+.

I do love that my room key, payment method and FastPass+ are all stored on a handy little wristband though. We'll see how it goes...I will definitely report back.

If the MagicBand is your only method of access, you will not be able to use the existing FP kiosks, since they only take cards with magnetic stripes.

We haven't gotten any reliable information on what you can do beyond the first three (or whatever) pre-booked FP+.

But it would be awesome if you could report back here!

Thanks for the additional details doconeill! :thumbsup2 I'm hoping maybe they allow us to get a couple extra FP from the kiosks cause I usually get about 4-5 FP normally and kind of feel like I am missing out buy using the MagicBand and FP+. I am a sucker for new technology though so I am excited about being a tester.

Did you get to pick your wristband color, get the option to have names engraved on the inside, etc? Are they being sent to your house?

I am excited to see how this MagicBand works. Fortunately as a passholder I'll be able to have one.

subbing so I can keep abreast.

Living in the UK means we tend to book our holiday anything up to 2 years in advance. I booked our next trip for October 2014 about 4 weeks ago. Also as we have to factor in long haul flights the cost for our holiday soon added up to a pretty penny. I hope that these changes don't ruin the possible future holidays we may have. I don't mind doing ADRs for TS meals as we've been lucky enough to visit many times and we know where we like to eat and we tend to do our TS meal in the evening but there are many times when we don't decide which park we're going to for the morning time till the bus turns up at the hotel ..... it looks like the "random" morning will become a thing of the past.

Yup to all! I chose pink with my name on it (DH chose gray) and they're supposed to ship to our house! I'll post photos when they arrive! ;-)

I'm jealous! I sooo want to do this...lol! We are going in Oct.

We are not doing early mornings in any of the parks because we have tours, breakfasts and such planned, and we are hoping to be able to book TSM before we arrive.

I am very curious if you will be able to add 'day-of or same-day' reservations for rides, too. 3 does not sound like enough, all-in-all, but if it's just 3 booked ahead of time and maybe 3 more when you arrive, I could work with that.

All eyes are on you! lol! No pressure. :rotfl2:

When we traded in our paper APs for the new plastic ones in May, we were told we would not be able to use the current FP machines once the bands kicked in, but the old FP machines would eventually be phased out, so it will only be for a short period. When? The CM did not know, but she was hopeful all would be in place around September.

Subbing so I can keep on top of this. Hope they are available for us in late/Sept. early Oct.

Hi all sorry if this has already been pointed out. I just noticed today that on MDE that the add reservation link now included tickets! I have been watching for this button to become active because my room for my Oct trip is DVC so my ticket is separate. To me this signals they are getting ready for a larger launch of the magic bands because now every ticket holder can log into MDE and make fast past reservations once that comes on line! I hope this is running for my trip!

I'm not so sure that it means there is an impending launch. It just means they turned on that part of the site/app. It's been there at least a couple weeks on the web site. Some people have tried registering their passes, and had trouble. My APs were fine. But one person reported that registering them might actually deactivate the physical media according to MDE support, although if that was the case I'd expect them to have turned it completely off again.

The limited "guest field test" starts Thursday, and lasts a week. What happens after that is a mystery.

I agree. Our tickets have shown up in the MDE iOS app for at least a few weeks if not longer. I'm expecting a slow roll-out, not a quick flip of the switch.

Yes I just linked mine and it clearly stated that in doing this your physical ticket was no longer valid for entry.

That's not good...

I definitely didn't get that when I did my APs, but that was also before I heard about this.

So, what does that mean exactly? I'd be too curious and I'd have to call CRO to find out exactly what this means (if anything at this point).
