Hello all,
I'm new to the forum and have had such a great time snooping around and reading everyone's fantastic information about all things Disney.

About 3 weeks ago, my boyfriend proposed to me! (yay!) We are both Sophomores in College (yes, we're really young), and are planning on having a 3 year engagement before getting married on a Disney Cruise in 2013. (I'm hoping for October of 2013) Since my family was planning a Disney Cruise vacation sometime in 2013, they're stoked for it! The only problem is that his mom gets EXTREMELY seasick and is having a really hard time with the idea of being on a cruise. But more about that later.

So, I've only been engaged 3 weeks, and we've only known each other a year, but it's one of those "Once you know, you know" kind of ordeals with him and I :) It was practically love at first sight.

So, I haven't really planned anything so far, but I'm planning on just using this to vent, plan, find out information, etc. I know I'm QUITE early in the planning process, but we wanted to start saving up and let our families save up.

A little about us:

My name is Kristin. I'm (only) 19 years old. I'm a sophomore at Otterbein University in Westerville (near Columbus) Ohio, where I am majoring in Theatre. I love all things theatre, but my heart is set on being a playwright/director/dancer. I work as a receptionist for a distributing company. I have been obsessed with The Little Mermaid since I can remember (and I mean obsessed. I'll have to post pictures of my room/bathroom for you to understand the true scope of things), hence the cruise. When I was little, I always wanted a "My Fair Lady" wedding, complete with Ascot Opening Race gown and GIANT hat. My brother got married this July and told me that he and his wife were saving up for a Disney Cruise to do a honeymoon and that they do weddings on them. I was hooked instantly and I knew that would be my perfect dream wedding.

As for my Fiancee, He is also 19, also a Sophomore at Otterbein, also a Theatre Major, although he is a technician, focusing in the Lighting aspect. In his non-student time, he works freelance as a lighter, does work at local theatres, and is a proshop attendant at a local Golf Course. He's my prince charming :)

I really want to sail on the Disney Wonder, even though it's older, because they have the Mermaid Themed Restaurant (I will pass out when I see it). More importantly, we want to have the ceremony on Castaway Cay and PRAY that somehow his mom can get to the ceremony without having to go on the cruise (does anyone know if this is possible?) If not, I feel my dream wedding may be scrapped. I feel bad making his mom uncomfortable, but I still want my dream wedding!!! Oh well, it's three years away.

Anyway, that's a little bit about us, a little about my wedding hopes and dreams. Did anyone else plan this far in advance or have a long engagement?

I don't think the Wonder will be at Port Canaveral in 2013 hon. I think they're moving it to the west coast. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you'll either have the Dream (comes out 2011) or the Fantasy (comes out 2012).

Oh, and YAY ANOTHER DCL BRIDE! :)

Hello! im so excited to see someone in "almost" the same situation as me...im a junior in college and have been lurking on the boards for 2 years...im planning on having a wdw wedding in 2014..the only thing is my BF and I arent engaged yet..we've been dating for 4 years and we have discussed the wedding many times..he just cant afford a ring right now because college baseball takes up all his time and he cant work =[

anyway, i think your idea of a cruise wedding is great and i cant wait to hear more about it..as for his mother, has she said she wont go on the cruise? do seasick patches and stuff like that not help with her seasickness? & about planning ahead, once im married ill have prob been planning for like 6 years so its never too early to plan as long as you know options and prices will change! :goodvibes

Many congratulations and welcome!!
Excuse my ignorant English self, but what is a Sophomore? Is it a first year at university - if so, we call them freshers.
Most cruise lines can fix you up with a long-lasting sea sickness injection which shoul help any of your guests from turning green!!!
