My son will be going to DVC for the 1st time this July. He wants to know what to expect. He is 8 yo and has stayed at the WL 2 times. Absolutely loved it. Into the wilderness thing and loves big slides at pools. Where should we book for July to try some knew things at the resorts? :jumping1: :jumping2:

Are you asking where you should book a DVC stay for this July. Considering most book at the 11 month window or the 7 month window, your options might be very limited.

I would call very soon and see what is available.

I second what sammie said...I'd call tomorrow and book something quick if you haven't actually book something yet...

Do you own points, or are you renting? I agree, that this is late for looking for a point stay.

I know that this is late. I am waiting for my contract to finalize on a resale. It's been 2 weeks since we sent in our final payment. Sellers are dragging there feet. This amazes me! Whatever is available we'll take on a studio. I was just wondering if there are any must do's for an 8yo boy at the resorts. We've only been to WL for 2 stays. Never really ventured to the other resorts. Any info would help plan July's trip. Thanks!

OKW for a 8 YO would include a fishing trip. Kids we have taken have really enjoyed that! There must be quite a few in the canal, because we often see folks fishing behind buildings 46 and 55. There is a special fishing excursion you can sign up for at HH. All of the pools have play ground areas, but Turtle pond is the best area for kids after the main pool area. Not sure if they still have the Unbirthday party or not. We have not had kids that age along for awhile, so I haven't paid much attention to the news of kids events in the little paper they give you at check in.

Forgot to mention that OKW will not have a pool slide until the end of the year, so if you end up there, and he wants a slide, you might have to pool hop. Closest would be SSR. Be sure to call the resort and make sure it is available for that day. Also, DTD is within walking distance, and kids we have taken have always enjoyed going to DisneyQuest. That is easy too, since it is on the end of DTD nearest to OKW.

Diane,

I never knew you could fish at OKW!

Just gotta love the boards!!!!!

Congrats on your resale and if this is your first purchase, welcome home ! :Pinkbounc
Is this at VWL because you stated your son loves the "wilderness thing" ? Since your ds loves big slides, BCV or BWV might be the way to go for you. OKW is due to have, what appears will be, an awesome slide built towards the end of the year. But until then, the slide at BWV is pretty big and BCV has SAB which is like a mini water park. Last July, I was able to book BWV at less than 45 days out. BCV also had availability but only on weekdays. Maybe you can mix and match a stay between these two resorts if you don't mind moving, then you ds could have fun at each of these resort's pools.

Just wanted to add to MiaSRN62's comments about pool hopping, you cannot EVER pool hop to BW's SAB or AKL's pool either. It is my understanding that they are very well utilized by their own resort's guests at any given time, so there is never enough room for others to pool-hop. Just FYI to avoid disappointment for you and your family!
PS Early WELCOME HOME!

If you can find availablity I would pick BWV or BCV, the kids just love the pools..

Also, as mentioned above my kids do the fishing trip out of the BW every year and love it. Then there are the carnavial games...I hate them my boys love losing there money:confused:  .

There is also a game room at community hall at the BW that my boys love to spend time at when we are doing down time..

I think you meant you can't pool hop to BCV no BW's SAB...just to clarify. If it is available pool hopping is still doable at BW..

early welcome home
second that idea of calling to book asap, just keep checking daily on your closing and as soon as it's been filed start daily call to ms so you can book as soon as you are in the system, july probably won't have too much available, especially bcv or bwv, maybe book okw and waitlist for one of the others, you never know, i just had an early dec waitlist come through allowing me to upgrade to a 1 bedroom from a studio for all my trip, dec 7 - 14, 04,bcv, and this is probably the most popular time for dvc members to travel
pirate: :bounce: check out the counter

Tell your son, whichever DVC resort you stay at will be wonderful, because he is "going home"
