My Son Loves Halloween...5/5 3 updates! Main Street, castle, statue photos

Nice update, Jacob! I like the full face make-up better than just part of the face, too. I hope it didn't mess your hat up too badly. I'm glad you guys got to go and have such a great time! Thanks for sharing all of your fun with us!

Jacob, I LOVE your costume! You did such a great job with it. I cant wait to hear more from you both.
Thank you.

The singers you saw in frontierland are the "cadaver dans", baseicly they are the dapper dans but only they are dead.

Thanks for the info!!! I had heard of the dapper dans, but was not positive that was them, had not heard them called the cadaver dans. Glad to know their name! Wish we had really seen them sing though.

The hat ended up being ok. But his camera strap was a bit green after being worn around his wrist for the night.

Thanks! The cakes were delicious! Everything in the bakery looked so good.

Jacob and I had a conversation about the black lights at Disney the other day. I suddenly remembered riding when I was young. Disney used to give you a hand stamp. Only you could not see the stamp in regular light, only in black light. So certain rides, we could look and see who was stamped on our hand!!!

Jacob is working on the next update. Hopefully soon. I have all the pics uploaded for him, but he hasn't had time to do it.

We had a lot of Halloween photos and talk in my pretrip, so continuing with that ...

Last night Jacob had a Halloween party!

This is the fourth year he has had one. He had up most of his decorations, and we did some baking. I don't have pictures of all his great decorations, need to take photos during the daylight.

I just got these two night ones. He made covers for our lights. This is a trick or treat bucket, that was already cut up, he wore it as a mask one year when he was the "Pumpkin King". He put this up himself.

Here is it as a mask. This was three years ago.
With his sister the little angel. Yeah right.
05costumes.jpg

He made this himself out of a milk carton, and installed it on his own. Frankenstein!!!

We did make the cupcakes we talked about in our pretrip, but they didn't come out that great.

Jacob found THIS photo on the internet. I tried to make these. :rolleyes1
witchcupcake.jpg

Mine looked like this. They look more like CLOWNS than witches. :headache:
witchcupcakes.jpg

I also made bat cupcakes. They came out a lot better. :thumbsup2
I thought they were cute!!! They are made out of pb cups.
We chose yellow frosting to resemble the moon.

Jacob made a mini eyeball cupcake. (with a lifesaver & an m&m)

We are doing this report here, and on another site, Enchanted. In our (same) pretrip there, Cathy (Retired Kid), who is also here on the DIS posted this recipe that she makes for Halloween.

retiredkid said:
WITCHES FINGERS

1 cup (250 mL) butter, softened
1 cup (250 mL) icing sugar
1 egg
1 tsp (5 mL) almond extract
1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla
2-3/4 cups (675 mL) all-purpose flour
1 tsp (5 mL) baking powder
1 tsp (5 mL) salt
3/4 cup (175 mL) whole blanched almonds
**1 tube (19 g) red decorator gel (blood for fingers)

** I actually just use jam....it works great !! After taking the nail off the baked cookie, I just kinda scrape the bottom of it into a spoon of jam and press it back on. it's thick, and gooey and icky

Preparation:

In bowl, beat together butter, sugar, egg, almond extract and vanilla; beat in flour, baking powder and salt. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Working with one quarter of the dough at a time and keeping remaining dough refrigerated, roll heaping teaspoonful (5 mL) of dough into finger shape for each cookie.

Press almond firmly into 1end for nail. Squeeze in centre to create knuckle shape; using paring knife, make slashes in several places to form knuckle. **

** I also make some gashes in the fingers, which I dip a toothpick into jam and put it in the gashes.. I even make little warts on them. God, this sounds terrible.

Place on lightly greased baking sheets; bake in 325¡F (160¡C) oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until pale golden. Let cool for 3 minutes. Lift up almond; squeeze red decorator gel onto nail bed and press almond back into place, so gel oozes out from underneath. Remove from baking sheets; let cool on racks. Repeat with remaining dough.

I can't find any pics of my own or my daughters cookies, but here are a couple from the web.

Ours look more like this, but a little scarier with the cuts and warts

I personally dont like the blood on the bottom, but they are pretty scary.

We made them Fri night.
Joe (dh) was out late. He came home, saw cookie sheets out, saw the cookie container on the counter.

He was so excited!!!

He opened the container to get a cookie.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

He was so freaked out by them he didn't have one. (And this was pre-jelly).

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

So the next day, he tried one, but he had to close his eyes. He keeps saying how disgusting they are, but then he told me to take a picture and send it to everyone. He did say they tasted great though. They were a hit at the party!!! They freaked one kid out a little, but everyone else loved them.

Thank you Cathy!!!

Here they are before cooking:

And the finished product!!!

Awesome Halloween decorations! Jacob is very creative! The cupcakes are cute, but the fingers freak me out a little! Very creepy! :scared1:
I bet you had a great time!

Wow. You guys are so creative!

I love the Frankenstein light cover.

And I don't think I could eat one of those finger cookies either. They look gross just in the picture, I couldn't imagine seeing them out at a party! (And of course I mean gross as in scary not as in yucky! ;) )

They're yummy though.

Then we faced our fears and went on:
You guessed it, IT'S A SMALL WORLD!!!!:earseek:

There was no wait, because the first parade was going on. We walked through the line and got on our boat. We were the only ones in the boat. No people were in the boats surrounding us either. We were all alone in small world, which is a little freaky. Also, I was reading a book about the magic kingdom called The Kingdom Keepers. In the book the dolls come alive and attack the main characters. I couldn't help but wonder, what would happen if they overtook the world and enslaved mankind!?!?! :worship:

The boats are empty!!!

And "The Goodbye Room" or "The Salani Ni Kahle Room" or "The Adios Room" or "The Ch'ao Room" or "The Dosvidania Room" It really depends on how you look at
it.

iasw135j.jpg

Then we left, and as soon as we gout out of are boat..
iasw136j.jpg

The clock opened!!!

I think my mom is going to post her small world pictures and then it's on to
BUZZ LIGHTYEAR'S SPACE RANGER SPIN!!!

Who will win? Me, or my Mom? Any thoughts?

I actually really enjoyed being completely alone on It's a Small World. It was a bit weird though. All the boats within view were empty. There was no one else in sight.

Since there wasn't anyone around we took a ton of photos.

Some more small world photos:

Great updates Kathleen and Jacob!
I knew it would be IASW!!!!!!!:lmao:
BTW Jacob, my DH thinks the same thing about the dolls coming to life! ;)
The house looked fab for Halloween and all the cakes looked really good - maybe not so much the fingers - far too realistic!
Di x

Ok the fingers freaked me out! :scared1: I love them though.

Great pictures of IASW. I agree that would be creepy riding that all alone. I keep meaning to read the book Kingdom Keepers but havent done so yet. Did you like it? They still do handstamps at DL and the kids love to see them with all of the blacklights.

Great pictures of Small World! I always liked the hula girls from Hawaii the best.

I agree it would be weird to have no one else around you!

haha, I knew the scariest ride was IASW! I also love those hula girls. It is really strange when you're the only ones on the ride...when we went to MNSSHP in 2006 we went on Splash Mountain during the parade and there was nobody in any other boat. The CM even told us that we could stay on if we wanted to.

I just had to show you that we were on IASW exactly 1 hour and 15 minutes after you, this was the 26th right?:

100_9832.jpg

When you were at IASW we were one of those watching the parade, we were across from the HOP. We didn't even realize there was a clock inside IASW. And I have a pic of the side of the clock also. We had a few people when we went on it after Hallowishes, but still very empty. By yourself would be strange. Actually, Splash Mountain was empty for us. I just remembered that.

The halloween decorations are cool. And I have to show those fingers to my DH. I'll have to remember that for next year. And I love Jacob's previous costume, the Pumpkin King. That was :cool1: !

Great IASW pictures! It would be really weird to be all by yourself! And kinda neat too! I didn't know the clock opened! I better pay more attention next time!

Hi Jacob and Kathleen! I just got caught up on your TR! Awesome IASW photos, and how cool are those Halloween snacks?! I especially liked the fingers! :thumbsup2

That ride does drive me crazy, but you just have to do it! Great pics and update.

Kathleen, did you get your CD yet? I didn't read your post in time to order one. I hope you get to play it on Friday. I just love all of that music! If I don't get to post again before then, have a Happy Halloween!
