Hello All,
I just got back from a week at WBC and Disney World. I know a lot of people here are interested in WBC, so I decided to write a review.
Here goes
We had reservations for a 3-bdr deluxe
We arrived at WBC at 1:45 on a Friday afternoon. The check-in personnel were very personable. The lady who helped us said she could get us in a room right away in bldg 3. I asked her if that room was updated and she said no. I told her I was looking for something in bldg 4 or 5. She continued looking but couldn't find anything available for us to check in right away. She eventually found us a room in bldg 6, but it wasn't ready yet. She said it would be ready in under 2 hours.
Next, we went over to pick up our parking passes. Woody help us and he was relentless in getting us to an "owners update" meeting. I told him I was unemployed (which is 100% true) and we would be wasting their time. We got out of there without setting up a meeting, but that wouldn't be the end of Woody
Before we even got back to the car, the front desk called and told us our room was ready. We ended up on the 3rd floor in room 6312. I wanted a room with a view, but was happy to get in a room before 2:30.
We were pleasantly surprised and pleased with our room. This room is right off the elevator (we couldn't hear any elevator noise) and directly over the entrance to bldg 6. We had a HUGE balcony. It was probably 20 ft wide, by 35 feet long. It was great. This room was perfect for the five young kids we had with us. It was easy to find, easily accessible and only took 1 minute to get to the pool!! At the time, I didn't realize how great of a location this room was.
The rooms were nicely appointed. There was a king suite with a full jacuzzi tub and bathroom. There was a second king bed in one of the rooms and two double beds in the other room. There was also a queen pull out couch. Every room had a flat screen tv with many channels. The kitchen and bathrooms had granite counter tops. The room was very clean and furniture showed no wear.
The kitchen:
While it was nice, it was lacking in the pans department. There was only one 12-inch pan and that was it. This is a 3-bdrm unit, with a max accommodation of 10. One 12 inch pan is not going to be able to feed 10 people breakfast. We are breakfast eaters and it was difficult to make bacon, potatoes and pancakes or eggs for breakfast. God bless my mom for spending the time making a lb of bacon and pancakes for us one morning
There were only 2 dish-washing solution tablets. There were 10 of us and we went through these in under 2 days. When I called to ask for more, they told me I would have to buy them. I asked if they supply the same amount of solution tabs for every size room from studio to 4 bed and they said "yes, we supply two to every room" Doesn't sound right to me, but oh well. We bought more and moved on.
Bedrooms:
The beds were comfy, the sheets were great, the fans worked well and the tvs were good. No complaints in this department.
Bathrooms:
They worked
Unfortunately, we had NO washcloths. I called down to get some and they said they were short on them but would try to find some. About an hour later a guy comes up with 4 washcloths and said sorry he didn't have more but they were running out. We never received any more washcloths. We had plenty of towels, but it was a process to get more. We tried once and never received them. We decided it was easier just to wash the ones we already had. We only had one extra roll of toilet paper in every bathroom, so we ran out. When we did they brought more, but it took 2 hours.
Parking:
We couldn't find a spot in the parking lot after 10pm. We usually parked in the garage between the hotel and bldg 6. Once, there was a guy at the gate (which was always open)who said if we weren't staying at the hotel, we couldn't park there. We just giggled and asked him where he expected us to park. He had no answer so we parked in the garage.
Pools:
The pirate pool right outside of bldg 6 is salt water. No big deal to me, but for some reason my 8 year old nephew didn't like it. He said it tasted bad. We told him he wasn't supposed to drink it
He complained a few times but still swam in it. The pool at bldg 6 was warmer than the one at bldg 5 (lazy river) The lazy river and pool at bldg 4 were waaaaay busier than bldg 6. There were more families at the pool in bldg 6 and more partiers at the lazy river and bldg 4 pool. I am guessing that this is because the bar is between bldg 4 and 5. We walked by the other pools, but didn't them. Oh... also, the pirate slide at the pool closed at 6 and kids had to be 48 inches to ride it. The height requirement is absurd in my mind.
Grills:
Gas and worked great!! We had steaks one night and burgers another.
Woody and the timeshare sharks:
These guys were relentless
Woody called again the first day to set up an appointment and offered us $75 bucks. We sternly declined and said no. Then, a note was left under the door, offering $100 bucks. Then another phone call (we had 3 messages) Then another note under the door offering $150. My sisters were having fun with it. They wanted to see how much they would offer. I told my sister that she could go in my place and take the money but there was 0% chance they would get me to sit through a meeting. They took a few days off from calling then called on the last day at 8:30am to invite us a meeting at 9:30am. We declined and they said "but we have your $75 dollars." We just had a good laugh.
We never used the busses, so I can't comment on the transportation. Overall, we had a great time. We had a few issues with the resort, but were happy with our time spent there. I would go back a second time.
Hopefully this review is helpful. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!!
