My neighbors...

Darn it! I thought I was going to have a "watch" of my own tonight! It would have been the Case of the Missing Tomato's!

I have tomato plants growing in pots on the deck. Monday night when I checked them they each had a nearly ripe tomato on them. Tonight I went to check on them again and they were gone!:scared1: I thought I was going to have to have a hissy fit and go knocking on doors telling people to give them up or else, but alas they both developed rotten spots on them. My DM checked them this morning and had to pick them and throw them out.:sad1:

Or my puppy got ahold of them - he has been "picking" mine and eating them. He decided that he likes the green ones much better than the red. So we had a few red grape tomatoes squished on the porch.

OH oh I have one?!

In the neighborhood where I grew up, there was a family who only came out at night. (Well ok, my family still lives there, they STILL only come out at night.) They all wear really odd clothing. The boys are 'homeschooled' and refuse to talk to any of the neighbor kids. They run inside if someone approaches them. They even put their swimming pool in their garage. (One of those big blue ones with filters?!)

Turns out they ARE pretty odd. The oldest boy took a kid up the canyon and tied him up and left him to come back for him later. The mom went and did 'damage' control and went door to door explaining that her son was framed and the cops had her house bugged and that we were all being bugged too. She needed to use a phone and asked to use mom's once cuz hers was 'bugged'. Mom let her but then the next time she came over she picked up mom's phone and said THEY'VE GOT YOU TOO!

eep.

Please, please don't assume that most homeschoolers are like this! YIKES!! ;) Most of us are normal, active societal types who do not live like a cross between vampires and complete nuts. Although, if my kids went to public school, I'd probably be quite happy that that particular family were homeschooled. Can you imagine sitting next to the poor kids in a classroom day after day after their having been raised by that loon? Did she also wear an aluminum foil hat???

ETA: Notice I said MOST, not all.:laughing::laughing:

LOL

Nono, that's why it was in ' ' 's haha. I don't think she did much 'schoolin'

In fact the middle one was SO BEHIND he went to high school and was in the mentally challenged class with my brother (who is actually mentally challenged). The teacher also lives next to my mom and said that the boy was so behind that all of the handicapped kids were far and above where he was.

:goodvibes Thanks! I just don't get some people. :sad2: We chose to HS because there were advantages we felt we could give our kids when the school system was unable to offer advanced or AP courses. But, there are some people who have no business homeschooling their kids. Some use it as an end-around education and don't see that they are seriously hurting their kids. Sounds like your neighbors' kids NEED to be in a public school setting where they can get assistance and things can be monitored. Although, I'd feel for any system having to deal with the parents.

Okay, end of vent :thumbsup2

I was first going to say that maybe one of the kids had that disorder that you can't be in the sun..... But as I kept reading
It takes all kinds...

I got a neigbor story!

We lived next to a crazy old guy named lance. My mom used to live accrossed the street as a kid, and he was known for turning the hose on children, even in the winter. Well, my sis and I were gonna make a moive (a hobby of mine) and we got the idea to make a sequal to the show third watch. The plot was bosco and faith both had kids and years later there children became partners and reunite there parents, who fall in love. Well, we had a stakeout scene. First we started off in a black sedan (borrowed from my guy freind) then we chased our perp through the yard, wearing black with maglights. Well, our perp was never seen in the picture so it ended up being us chasing a squriel. Well, about a hour latter a cop knocks on the door and is asking me about people running around with lights.... LANCE called the cops on us. Funny now, not so funny then

See, I'm not one TO homeschool..for one, I'm not patient enough, nor do I feel like I could offer what our local schools can ya know? But if others can do it, and do it WELL (and make SURE the kids are well rounded..I know far too many who can't interact) then more power to 'em!!

But yeah these kids needed some major intervention.

And LOL We thought about that skin disorder too! But they HAVE been out in the sun, they just don't. Like, for a bit they rode their bikes around in circles in front of their house (they're like 15 and 13..the older one was 19). But if anyone was walking by they'd run up to their garage and wait til they left. They stopped even leaving unless it was past dark after the older boy got in trouble. DH was DBF then and was working at walmarts overnight and they'd come in at 3am?

OP? ( which makes me think of the song "OPP"!)
Yeah You Know Me!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:
How old are you? Where you from?
Whenever I see OP, that's exactly what I think of, too! :rotfl2:

I don't mean to play Debbie Downer, but I'm increasingly feeling that this thread is not going to meet the "Rear Window" expectations we all dream of. The lack of updates from the OP doesn't bode well - I'm sure if the situation had evolved in any substantive way she'd be here in a nanosecond to report it.

Okay, Debbie - keep that to yourself  I actually love this thread.....There are so many negative threads on this board, it's actually fun when we can all get together and surmise what is going on in some unknown surburban neighborhood - Any Town, USA. My husband is also hooked and we await the OPP...I mean the OP's response, no matter what it is popcorn::

OH OH OH. OP! You should take over a white bag and say "Hey I noticed you guys use a lot of these and I don't need them"
hehe

Maybe we should have a bbq in OP's front yard. A BIG one..so big that it spills into the street..and..across the street...and..right up to their window.
HMM
Good Idea!

And who wrote that one about the secret camera hidden inside a fake bird  That's a good one!

We really need an update...hope everything is OK?

I just found this thread, read all 27 pages and I'm dying here.....I think we should all pack up in a non-conversion van and go on a road trip (donuts will be needed) to OPs house, check on her, have said BBQ block party (mojitos will be needed) and get to the bottom of this! PRONTO
