I'm still a little in shock, but wanted to start reaching out because that is how I sometimes cope.
I think we were a little late in diagnosing some of the symptoms, but the doctors are still very positive when discussing her recovery.
I think the hardest thing is seeing how frustrated she is. There is a listless "checked out" look on her face that is a little frightening to me.
Anyway, I would really appreciate everybody's positive thoughts and prayers - it gives me perspective and that is what I need right now.

Try not to project the future based on what you're seeing now. Your mother could well regain most, if not all, of her previous functioning. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy will probably be part of her rehabilitation. Let her know you're scared too, but that you believe she will get better. She needs you to be her biggest cheerleader.
And I know you will.
