I'm still a little in shock, but wanted to start reaching out because that is how I sometimes cope.

I think we were a little late in diagnosing some of the symptoms, but the doctors are still very positive when discussing her recovery.

I think the hardest thing is seeing how frustrated she is. There is a listless "checked out" look on her face that is a little frightening to me.

Anyway, I would really appreciate everybody's positive thoughts and prayers - it gives me perspective and that is what I need right now.

Thanks very much!

Strokes are so scary. I'm sorry. I hope she makes a quick full recovery. Prayers and positive thoughts to you and your family.

Whatever you need, you've got it..

My mom had a stroke in June so I know how you feel. I'm sending out lots of positive thoughts your way.

Postive thoughts from me.:flower3: Try not to project the future based on what you're seeing now. Your mother could well regain most, if not all, of her previous functioning. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy will probably be part of her rehabilitation. Let her know you're scared too, but that you believe she will get better. She needs you to be her biggest cheerleader. :cheer2: And I know you will.

Oh, I'm so sorry! How is she functioning right now?

I know this is a scary time... my dad suffered a stroke 2 years ago. We've been through a lot of hospitals, rehab and therapists.

I'll be thinking of you and your mom, and hoping for a good recovery.

Im sorry to hear that

My mom recently had a stroke also.. within the month before my grandmom (her mom) then my great uncle (her uncle) passed away and then shortly thereafter my mom had a stroke, which the drs think was from all the stress of everything going on..

she has gotten most of the feeling back in her right side as of today..

Im sending positive thoughts your way..

My thoughts are with you during this time. You mother has a strong person helping her through.

I am a physical therapist. Strokes are so different. Some people can regain almost all function in a matter of days. Some take longer. You can expect return for a minimum of 6 months. It can be frustrating but with rehab, hopefully she can return to independent function.

Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Awww sweetie, I am so sorry and can only imagine how frightening it is. Know that lots of hugs and prayers are on the way from your Dis friends for your Mom's successful recovery. Please keep us updated and take care of yourself too.

 I'm so sorry. My grandmother and my aunt both had strokes. It scares me to death.

but I can say that my mom's friend had one- and she had a great recovery. She was going through intensive therapy and it worked.
I hope your mom has the same results.

Thanks for everybody's well wishes, I am very touched how people reach out on this board.

She is fluctuating, but seems to be making some progress with her physical movements. Her verbal has decreased a little, but doctors say it is still so early.

Thanks for everybody's .

Thanks for the update! I will keep her and you in my prayers and thoughts.
