My Magical Journey to Running the Half Marathon TR Link! p.107

I can't believe I missed your birthday. :sad2: Hope you had a happy one! :bday:

No worries! It was a happy one. :goodvibes

Dubai has THE MOST AMazing shopping and fun stuff!! I hope you like what he gets you! I did a TR on my blog for our trip to Dubai last year, this week in fact, and I posted all the fun stuff I bought. Clothes, shoes (authentic from Pakistan and India), spices, carved stuff, all kinds of great stuff!! And literally STREETS of gold!!! Maybe he got you something from the gold souk??

He went on a sunset cruise of some sort where they went on these vehicles in the dunes or something like that. I think he bought the items at the end of the tour. He did go to the mall there with the indoor skiing, but didn't buy anything.

Awwwww, sorry I missed your birthday. Hope you had a good one! :goodvibes

I did, thanks! :)

I will have a weekly update tomorrow!! :cheer2:

We went on both of those! The desert "safari" was fun! It was a dune 4 wheel drive "excursion", a middle-easter dinner, belly dancer entertainment, hooka pipes for the guys, all that fun stuff!! They did have some souvenirs for sale in one of the tents, but we didn't buy any there. We went to the gold, spice, fabric, and other souks. REally, really fun!

We also went to the "ski mall". It was WAYYYYYYYYYYYY too expensive for us, but it was fun to see. We splurged on Baskin Robbins ice cream instead :)

Yes! That was exactly it!

That may be why he didn't buy anything there. I know he bought the boys the tradtional headdress - can't remember the proper name.

You trying to get Carissa's DH in trouble?????? :confused3 :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Carissa- I'm sure your DH just rode the dune buggies and had a nice quiet dinner!!!!!! :goodvibes

:rotfl: I already knew about the belly dancer. ;) And my first comment when he told me there would be one was, "Are you kidding me?? A bunch of deprived (not the word I used :rolleyes1 ) sailors and you're going to have a belly dancer perform for them???" :confused3

Not worried about the hookah pipe. Chuck has never smoked in his life and has absolutely zero interest.

Here's the scoop on the belly dancer... She was actually RUSSIAN!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao: We went up to her and tried to talk to her afterwards, and would have NOTHING to do with us. In fact, one of my girls thought she was on the verge of tears kind of. It was all really weird and bizaare, we thought.

The whole thing is really rather touristy in every respect, but a fun night out. My DH doesn't smoke either, but thought he HAD to try to hooka since he was there... he says it tasted like perfumey strawberries.

Headdresses... mean wear a "ghutra an iqal " on their heads. They are red and white with a thick cord (like a crown) on the crown of it. You won't see many, as REAL Saudi's/ Arabians are tucked comfortably in their homes. They let the Phillipinos, Pakistanis, and Indians do ALL the work.

Tim--- I'm sure that's the way it was... :rolleyes1;):lmao:

Well, I'm just having horrible tech problems this morning!!!! Now, when I log into my photobucket account, it doesn't give me the upload function!! I've tried everywhere to find it, but, it's just not my normal screen that it gives me with the green upload photos thing.

I was going to post a picture of ours for you to compare, but alas cannot. My pix are AWFUL!!!!! But at first peek they don't look the same. Regardless, I wanted to post a couple more too. One of my DH on the hooka and the jeeps/ landcruisers they use on the dunes.

happy belated BIRTHDAY friend !!!!

:cake: party: :bday:

Thanks Julie! :)

Happy Easter, Carissa!

Thanks Jackie!

Thanks Lauren!

Chuck also sent along the memory card from his phone that is supposed to have pictures from the past 3 months. Once it arrives, I'll post any good ones from his tour.

This is as good as they got (the pix). You guys be the judge- they don't look the same to me.

Tim, BTW... she'd invite a few men to come up and dance with her. ;) I"m sure Chuck was not one of them. ;) But it was awfully funny to watch these fat Arab guys shake their thang up there with her. :lmao::lmao::lmao: And I'm sure they ALL had wives! at home!

Some of you might have heard on the news about an accident involving one of the planes from the U.S.S. Eisenhower last week. It was returning to the Ike after a mission and had mechanical issues. Three of the four crew on board were rescued after an emergency evacuation from the plane. The pilot was not found after many days of searching. :( Please keep his family in your thoughts. Chuck had met the pilot a few times and I'm sure this is a difficult time for all of our sailors on board.

~ Week 7 ~

This week hasn't been the best for me with exercise. Last Monday I did get some cross-training in and Tuesday attempted W7D1. I was doing well, but the delivery guy showed up while I was running with a lovely fruit arrangement on my birthday. I was able to hop off and back on in about 30 seconds so I still count that day as completing the 25 minute run.

I have been plagued with migraines this week. I only ended up getting one more run in on Friday. It went really well and I did the 25 minute straight run without any issue. :cool1:

I should be running today, but feeling groggy and dizzy from the medication I took last night. Hopefully tomorrow I will be as good as new and ready to finish week 7 and move on to week 8. :thumbsup2

Definitely not the same woman. Yours was a blonde and Chuck's was a brunette. I'm sure Chuck didn't get up to dance. He is MUCH too shy!
