My Magical Journey to Running the Half Marathon TR Link! p.107

I hadn't heard about the pilot, how horrible. His family is in my prayers. I hear you on the workouts, I haven't been since last weds and I am dying!

Things have been better this week, but I'm still not getting my cross training in as much as I'd like. There just isn't enough time in a day!!

sorry about the migraines...

but you still persevered!!:thumbsup2 congrats on your discipline!

Thanks J! How is your no soda, coffee, juice going?

Morning, Carissa! Just coming over to say hi :)

Morning Liesa!

Thoughts and prayers for all those involved in the tragedy and the ones who love them.

I bet the pedometer results would be interesting. There is no telling how many steps I walk around my school in the course of a day.

Part of me is worried that I really don't get that many steps in each day. :rolleyes1 But, my computer is upstairs in my bedroom and I go up and down those stairs so many times a day.

I think it's time for an update on any trip news. :thumbsup2 Before I get to that, our package did arrive a couple of days ago from Chuck. The couple of pictures he took of the bellydancer did not come out well so I won't bother posting them. One of the birthday presents he sent me was a hip coin skarf. Those of you on Facebook probably already saw the picture I posted, but here it is for the rest of you:

I'm thinking maybe he wants me to take up bellydancing...

He also sent the boys each a keffiyeh. I still haven't gotten around to trying to put them on, but when I do, I'll share a picture with you all.

On to the trips! :cool1:

Okay - so here's the thing: I really haven't done any planning for any of the trips. :rolleyes1

A good friend is sending me some info on Southern California. I've pretty much decided the beginning of November would be a good time for that trip because my 10K will be over. I think it's hard for me to start planning when I'm not even sure we'll be able to take this trip. Having Chuck's schedule be so up in the air is difficult. I did find some cheap flights through Air Tran, but after reading about Liesa's fiasco, I'm having my doubts. I know we will do DL for a couple of days, but I really want to see the sights and take a trip down to La Jolla and/or San Diego. I need to check out some TRs from Disneyland. :thumbsup2

We also have no clue as to when we're going to make our trip to Maine. Chuck doesn't want to get home from deployment and immediately have to leave on a trip. So, I'm trying to figure out a good time for that one. I did check out a few Bed and Breakfasts in New England, but there are so many to choose from! Anyone have any suggestions?

And I haven't done any planning for marathon weekend. I know I'm staying at a value resort and I know it's going to be a short trip. I'm thinking I will only buy a two day ticket. I would like to do Epcot on Friday after picking up my stuff at the expo and then MK on Saturday. My focus for this trip is going to be the race and just soaking up the atmosphere in the short time I am there.

So, there you have it. Not much planning going on at all. :rotfl:

Cool hip coin scarf! :thumbsup2

I am with you about the non-planning going on -- I feel like I have done next to nothing for ours.

Are you planning on just heading to Maine? When we went, we spent the majority of time in Bar Harbor. Such a pretty area with lots of little hotels.

We lived in Ellsworth before we were married and after so we've spent a lot of time in Bar Harbor. We actually got married at The Lucerne Inn, which is on the way shortly before you get to Ellsworth. I thought about staying there, but I think we'd like to check out something new. It doesn't have to be in Maine. We were also thinking of Vermont.

Charles' family is from Vermont, but when we go there we stay at one of his aunt's cabins on a lake. Another pretty area! We did the Ben and Jerry's tour and that was very neat.

My first husband was a drummer and his band did a ton of weddings in Vermont so I've traveled around the state lots. But, it's been many years. I also did the Ben & Jerry tour! Chuck and I stayed at a B & B in Vermont the first year we dated.

Sorry I haven't been real good about keeping up here, but I'm just popping in and glad to see you're keeping up with your training! I've been pretty good about jogging this week, but yesterday afternoon I was dying afterwards from all of the pollen I'd sucked in. I wanted to scratch my eyeballs out. So, I may take a break today.

All of the cars here were covered in yellow, but we had some rain last night, this morning and I think it helped.

Sounds like a lot of busy coming up soon.

If you need park tickets during your trip check and see if they are offering discounts on them if your registered for the race. I know they are for the
Wine and Dine, and from what people have been saying on the Wine and Dine thread they were cheaper than the ones Undercover Tourist sells.

Good to know. Thanks! :thumbsup2

I bet the pedometer results would be interesting. There is no telling how many steps I walk around my school in the course of a day.

MeMom, I convinced my DGF, who works at BassProShops, to wear a pedometer at work!!! Well she did and in one 8 hour shift she clocked 8000 steps!! :thumbsup2

Carissa, years ago, when all the talk started with wearing pedometers; I bought one and decided I would try it around my home. This was back in Boston, when we had our home engineering business. We lived in a 3 story home, so when I wasn't answering the phone, or greeting potential customers at the door, I was upstairs making beds and cleaning and then all the way to the basement doing laundry. Soooo, needless to say, I figured I was going to see some serious steps adding up on my pedometer. Well, after about 6 hours I checked it; barely 3000 steps!

I glanced over at your w/o's and running for roughly 2.5 miles, you would be doing roughly 4500 steps. :thumbsup2 Now w/running(jogging) I am not sure if the stride is different making you actually doing more steps than the 4500. If you continue to wear your pedometer all day long adding the 4500 steps, I am so sure you would easily hit the 7000 steps + in one day, Car!! :thumbsup2

:goofy: I am guessing that good friend of yours is rather GOOFY at times!!! :lmao:

:goodvibes GREAT pic of you modeling your hip coin scarf!!! :goodvibes

:cool1: WooHooTy, to planning your Southern California trip!!! :cool1:

All of the cars here were covered in yellow

Last night, NBC Nightly News showed all of the East coast suffering with horrific allergies this season from all the pollen. More than ever this year. :headache: THAT I do not miss ... Living in Boston, I can remember our cars covered in the pollen. No worries about pollen in SoCal! :thumbsup2

Good NITE, girlie! You are lookin' good!!!

Planning: I like your idea of just soaking in the atmosphere, and focusing on the race- I know you're going to do so well!!!

Check this chick out...

Come to CT!! We like to spend weekends in Mystic, it is such a cute area on the shore with lots of beautiful hotels and B&Bs. Lots to do in the area too!

I bet! Back when I used to be the supervisor of a cleaning crew contracted to clean a two story Sears store, I walked SO MUCH! I didn't need to workout because my job was a workout!

I'm sure the different strides make a difference. I'm slow, but I take small steps. I just wonder how accurate my pedometer is. Just seems like a little shake and it would think I took a step. :rotfl:

I heard a meterologist say that the yellow pollen isn't an allergen. :confused3 I don't know. Pollen doesn't really bother me.

I love it! Such a cute picture. :goodvibes I love the color of hers!

We've been to Mystic once before visiting a friend many years ago. Connecticut is a bit far though. We'll be driving through CT on our way up to Maine and I don't want to drive that far down just to have to go back up (my parents are watching the boys in Maine while we take a short trip).

That was exactly my thinking!! :thumbsup2

Oh cool! That's the other thing about planning for the half-marathon trip. I want to do stuff with you so I'm not really sure how to plan. This works out well! Are you wanting to do any TS meals or all CS?

I haven't put any thought into it yet, honestly. I am very flexible though. Since we are on the same page as far as where we'll be that's the biggest thing so as far as where we eat, I am open! :) Oh this reminds me! one thing I need to tell you is that I will have the TIW card for that trip so we'll get 20% off!...read about it here:
http://allears.net/din/dde.htm

So to clarify, I am open to table service for sure (I think before I was thinking I would only do counter.)

Awesome! We'll have to bounce ideas off one another. I like to try new places on each trip. You have a better idea of how the weekend will go so I'm open to hearing any suggestions.

I love to try new places too, especially ones that aren't kid friendly since we don't do those. But I would also be happy to go back to any I've already been to. I really am open. I want to do what you want to do! :) What places have you thought about?

Since we've got the plan of Epcot on Friday and MK on Saturday, are you thinking you'll want to eat in those parks those days? So dinner in Epcot Friday and then lunch and dinner in MK Saturday?

I definitely would like to do dinner at Epcot and probably somewhere in the World Showcase. The only TS I think I've done over there is Le Cellier. I'm also open to anything! :rotfl: If you had to choose one, which would it be? If I don't want to eat there, I'll tell you. ;)

I'm not as sure about MK. MK does not have my favorite eating places so I would be open to eating outside of the park for one or both of those meals.

There really isn't one restaurant that I feel strongly about eating at. There are so many great choices that I'd be happy with many different places.
