My Journal to Me - Comments welcome!

It has been a tough day today. Vegetables and water were way down and I've had a sweets craving all day. :sad2: I was able to control having Ovaltine, but then DH and I went out after DD's youth group Parent Meeting. I had a Margarita and we split an order of Nacho's and a Paradise Pie dessert:sad2: . I didn't know we were going out after (DH told the kids, but not me) so I couldn't look stuff up beforehand. When I checked it out after getting home, it was appalling :faint: 1570 calories (115 fat grams!) for the Nachos and the same for the dessert (actually 78 fat grams). Even splitting those numbers in half, that is really, really bad! Made the margarita at 168 calories look good:rolleyes1 . It was great to have some time for DH and I to talk, but those are definitely the last nachos I'm having for awhile! :scared:

b- wholewheat toast w/ 1T PB & marmalade, 12 oz skim milk
l- 1c split pea soup, last cupcake meatloaf, 12 oz skim milk
s- 12 oz skim milk w/ Ovaltine
d- Chili's: split Nachos & Paradise Pie with DH, margarita
Totals: Cal: 2655, Fat: 110g, Carbs: 277, Fiber: 20g, Protein: 107g
1 f/v
48 oz water
exercise: 30 minutes - shelved books at the Media Center for an hour that I am counting as 30 minutes. My butt, thighs and arms are all sore from lots of knee bends (also shows how out of shape I am :sad2: )

Tracy - Normal winter temps are mid 60's during the day and low 50's/high 40's at night. (and we complain about THAT being cold :rotfl: ) For the past week it has been low 50's/high 40's during the day and low/mid 30's at night. :cold: It is supposed to get closer to "normal" next week, I think.

Amy - pretty much "broke" everything today :sad2: . But, seeing the nutritional info really was an eye opener for me. Hopefully, that was the kick in the butt I need to get back on track.

Tracey - I burned my tongue trying to drink my hot water w/ lemon.

Wow, I bet that was shocking to see those numbers pop out of FitDay! I immediately knew where you went when I saw the Paradise Pie. I have a printout of Chili's nutritional info at my house... :rolleyes1

Don't worry about it, we've all been there. Today is a new day. And who knows, you may have just shocked your body into wondering what the heck you are doing so it has to burn lots of calories again!

I agree, we have all been there and sometimes you just do the best you can and move on. That said, if you are gonna eat some heavy duty fat, you picked good stuff! Nachos and Paradise Pie sounds mighty good to me! And some alone time with dh talking and eat nachos is not a bad thing. You'll get back on track right away, you can do it!

Seems we're all having cravings at the moment!!
The nachos & pie did sound delish though :)
Tomorrows a new day, & i'm sure 1 day 'off the wagon' wont do too much damage!
Have a great weekend :)

So I kept the calorie count down, but the mix was all wrong today. I didn't actually sit down to eat anything until nearly 2pm. Spent the earlier part of the day running around doing things and had forgotten to bring snacks, etc with me. I wasn't hungry actually, until I started to eat. Then I was really hungry, but I made healthy choices. My problem was at dinner. I mowed through the chips and salsa (stress eating, I think since my kids had been bickering. Anytime they were in the same room for more than two minutes it would start - ack! ) Something is bugging DD11. I haven't found out what it is yet, but she gets like this when she is worried or stressed. She pushes her older sister's buttons and DD12 always reacts (yea, I've talked to DD12 about that too.) They bicker about ANY stupid thing yesterday. ... Ok, just reread that. Sorry about the rant. Just needed to get it out. :headache:

Food:
2pm- wholewheat toast w/ 1T PB & 1T apple butter, 12 oz skim milk, 2/3 grapefruit (DD3 ate most of my 1/2 grapefruit, so I finished it off and ate the second half too.)
4pm- 17 pretzels, LF LC wedge, apple
7pm- chicken salad sandwich on wholewheat, 7 grape tomatoes, way too many chips and salsa
Totals: Cal: 1340, Fat: 55g :sad2: , Carbs: 174g, Fiber 20g, Protein: 49g
3 f/v
64 oz water

AmyM- I had no idea the numbers would be that high. It was good, but 1600 calories worth of good. :scared: Good eye opener for me though.

Amy- It was really good to have some time to talk with DH. He is so busy this month, we've hardly seen each other at all.

Tracey- Hopefully I won't fall off the wagon like that again any time soon. Maybe it is what I needed to finally get motivated again too. I can only hope!

Kids eh!!!
My DD 12 is going through the dont want to do anything except sit on my computer & play games phase!!!
Well done for making those health choices :)

My kids fight like that ALL THE TIME!!! It starts first thing in the morning, with who gets to look at the cereal box while eating, then just escalates from there... :confused3

Your totals weren't that bad considering all the chips-n-salsa! My fat grams have been high lately too, I really need to get some balance back into my diet. We'll struggle through it together, with FitDay in tow!!

Hope today is calmer for you. :wizard:

Oy!!! I can relate to the kids bickering!!! DD7 can irritate DS11 just by being in the same building!!! I swear!!! I told them both "One day I'm gonna be gone and you're only gonna have each other to depend on...you better start working on it now!!" My DD looked at me and said, "Where ya going mom...can I go??" She has selective hearing!!

Hang in there!
Marie

The good news I only ate healthy stuff and I didn't want/crave any junk. The bad news is that was the only good news. I didn't eat every few hours, I had almost no fiber and few veggies, I drank no water, and I sat on my behind all day.:sad1: I was working on the PTA newsletter :headache: from about 7am to 9:30p only stopping twice for breakfast and dinner (no lunch). I have maybe about an hour more work to finish it up.

8:30a - 3 pancakes w/ 1T maple syrup & 1T blueberry syrup, 12 oz skim milk
5:30p - Big Salad w/ .5 tomato, .25 avocado, .5 egg, .33c cheddar, sprinkle of bacon, green onions, 1T dressing, 2 slices of bread & butter (should have skipped the second slice), 12 oz skim milk
10:30p - 2 - 12oz skim milk
Total: Cal: 1508, Fat: 54g, Carbs: 172g, Fiber: 7g, Protein: 84g

It starts first thing in the morning, with who gets to look at the cereal box while eating, then just escalates from there...
YES!!! It doesn't bug my husband (because he is not around to hear it all day long!), but it drives me nuts.

The only upside to doing the newsletter yesterday was DH took care of the kids. :rolleyes1

Hi Anna
look at the positives,
you did really well with your food :)
& the newsletter is done & out the way now :)
Hope you managed to fit some fun time in part of your day - or night :)

5:30p - Big Salad

OK, this had me cracking up. Did you watch Seinfeld? If you did, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. If not, you probably think I'm nuts...

At least you had your eating under control, that is most of the battle! The exercising will come soon. Have you done that WATP DVD yet?

 Anna,

Sending some :wizard: for your DD11.... Those pre-teen years can be tough....

Great job getting your food back OP! Don't worry... The exercise will come. :goodvibes

Hope you have a great week ahead!:thumbsup2

Anna, hope you get to the bottom of dd11's woes! I agree with Tracy, the preteen years are tough. And the bickering thing, well I can relate to that too! With a boy and a girl its bad enough, if I had two girls I'd probably really go bonkers! My mom loves it, she says payback is sweet! She may have Alz. but she remembers us three kids arguing quite well ;) . I have not been doing so hot on the veggies thing myself. Its hard to eat that type of food when its cold outside. Is your weather any better? Hope so! And that was not a rant. Wait until you read my next journal entry. It reads like a script for the Dr. Phil show. Thats what WISH is for (hopefully). Ranting vs. eating! Hang in there, you are doing so much better with your food and thats a big step. The actual components of what you eat will come in line next.

Sorry for being MIA. DH is out of town this week. By the time I get everything taken care of in the evening, I'm :faint: Then it all starts over again at 5:30a. The good news is I have been behaving! I'm not going to post everything, but I have been 1200-1500 calories/day. The last two days I even had sub-30 fat grams. I've eaten 3-5 fruits/veggies each day and drank at least 80 oz water (still struggling with this one). The big news - I actually exercised yesterday!!! (Note to self - update Jan exercise challenge) After I took DD3 to preschool, I went to the beach. The tide was in, but I walked anyway. I knew if I went home, I would make excuses for not working out. It really felt good to walk along the beach again. I even ran for a few minutes and that felt good too. I don't feel as if I have turned the corner quite yet for healthy living, but at least I feel like I know where the corner is! :rotfl:

One completely offtopic rant: I took the PTA newsletter to Office Depot to be copied this morning. I wanted a stiff drink by the time I left - it was 8:25 in the morning!!! My stomach ties up in knots every month when I have to go to the copy center. The level of incompetence is truly frightening. Every month, I have the same order: 620 copies, 8-10 singlesided orginals to doublesided copies, 2 staples, xxx color paper, PTA discount and yes, I really do need it done tonight. Every single month it is like they have never heard of such a thing, it takes 20 minutes to figure out how to ring it up, and they can't possibly get it done in time. Last summer I was actually so frustrated, I shopped the job to other printers. Office Depot is by far the cheapest quote, and the manager assured me that they would be able to turn the job in my timeframe. Yet, every month I get the same angst! Oh, and every single month the job is a different price too (all still cheaper than the next lowest bid). Ok, rant over - just needed to get that out!

DH is going to be gone most of the next 3 weeks, so if I go MIA again, you'll know why. Thank you all for letting me ramble on and encouraging me when I mess up. I really appreciate it. :grouphug:

Hi Anna,

Great job getting your workout in yesterday! You're doing a great job with your food too.... Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

I'm sorry to hear about the problems with the newsletter and Office Depot.... Maybe it's time to speak to the manager again.... Better yet, maybe the manager can handle the whole thing so that there isn't any confusion at the store. In any event, here's some :wizard: for next month's newsletter.:goodvibes

Also sending you some extra :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: while your DH is out of town.... Hope everything goes smoothly for you both and that the time goes by quickly until he is home again.:goodvibes

Take good care of you, Anna!

Anna, you are definitely turning that corner! The fruits and veggies, water, low fat intake and exercising all seem pretty corner turnworthy to me! Keep it up, I know its tough when your dh is out of town. Mine use to travel all week, every week for about two years and it was hard plain and simple. And I can so relate to your Home Depot woes, I used to have to print quite a bit of stuff out for a committee I chaired for a couple of years at my church. It never failed to be a PITA! I hope this week continues to be successful for you, I know you can do it! And oh I know I have said it before but I so envy those beach walks!

Yet another reason to not volunteer at school... I just can't deal with that type of stuff! Next time you should take the receipt to them and tell them that is what you want.

Great job getting the walk in! I think you are finally on your way after your short detour!:cheer2:

My poor DH will be going through the same thing you are during Feb. I've got a couple trips coming. At least you can make dinner, do laundry and clean the kitchen! None of that gets done when I'm gone, it's like having the kids live in a college dorm room for a week... Hang in there!

Another reasonable day. DD's wanted "breakfast for dinner" since DH was out of town, so my fat intake was a little higher, but I planned around it and still get the numbers reasonable. I also made my first attempt at a carpool for swim yesterday. Another mom who has three kids on the swim & waterpolo teams asked if I was interested. On Monday I put drove 67 miles doing nothing but picking up and dropping of kids from school & swim & waterpolo. So it is worth a try to see if this works. DD's are not thrilled since the 2 of the other kids are boys (eww! :rotfl: ).

Food:
b-GoLean cereal (I like the Crunch better, but the grocery store was out), 12 oz skim milk
s- banana
l- 1/2 ham wholewheat sandwich, 6 baby carrots
s- apple, 4oz FF cottage cheese
d- 2 slices French Toast w/ 2T maple syrup, 1 slice bacon, 12oz skim milk
3 f/v
eta: Totals: Cal: 1363, Fat: 35g, Carbs: 200, Fiber: 20g, Protein: 79g
104oz water
no exercise

AmyM - I'm looking forward to next year - no school volunteering at all! DD's preschool does not want the parents in the class (kids need to separate) and the middle school also does not want the parents on campus (kids need to separate!). Maybe then I can get some of the things I want to do done. :) Good idea on the reciept.

Amy - We're used to DH travelling too. The kids and I get into our own routine when he is gone all week. It is harder the weeks when he is home for a day or two and then gone for a day or two. Then we don't ever seem to get into a rhythm. This week he is gone all week. I do love my beach walks. That was the incentive it took to get me out walking again. :)

Tracy - Yesterday's conversation was with the store manager. The problem is the copy center manager. I will definitely be dealing with the store manager from now on.

I'm with you, I love the Crunch but not the regular GoLean. In fact, I still have a huge Costco box of Crunch that needs to get eaten... :rolleyes1

Your eating looks great!

My March trip to CA will be to Irvine. It's going to be short, fly in Tuesday, have meetings on Tue and Wed then fly back Wed evening. There are some people flying over from London for these meetings, I feel sorry for them!

Count me in as another Crunch lover! You are really doing well, totally back into the groove! Your 43 by 43 is on its way to happening! Keep up the good work and say hi to the beach for me!
