As you suspected, the CM was wrong. Half of building 85 is Standard Location. Ironically, the same applies to building 90 which they did accept!

Referred to as phone CM roulette. Unfortunately a very common thing to have to do.

Looking at the TA email againit was building 80, not 90 they allowed. I'll edit post.

No, they won't be starting on the Alligator Bayou section until the end of the summer. They were all done relatively recently though, so they're in good shape.

Curious what the construction status is currently? We are going in June and prefer the Magnolia Bend side. I'd love a refurb room if we can get one in standard view. My favorite building is 85 on the river side but that won't be happening anymore

There won't be any construction going on in June. The last of the Magnolia Bend buildings (95, the Royal Rooms) should be finished within a month or so, and the AB section will commence late summer. You are right that the river-facing rooms in building 85 are now considered to be Preferred Location bookings.

Totally agree, and have done it more times than I really should have. Sad that a customer can know more than a reservation CM. LOL The last one was a couple of years ago on our POP reservation, when I put in a request for a room in building 5 facing the lake and the CM was adamant that that whole building was preferred. At the time it was not, but maybe she was clairvoyant because they just recently made all of building 5 preferred. LOL

I'd prefer to stay in the Mansions section, but I keep checking and there don't appear to be any regular standard rooms available under the spring deal. I'm considering going to the check-in desk that first day to see if they have any standard rooms in the mansions section. What do you think are the chances of that request being granted?

I don’t know the odds, but if you don’t ask, the answer is always no.

It can't hurt to put a Request in, and to ask at the Front Desk too if necessary. It would technically be a downgrade, so they could maybe just upgrade another guest if the resort is fairly full. You'd probably stand a better chance if you are arriving earlier in the day.

We had a similar scenario in December where I had booked 2 preferred rooms and I called and requested to be placed in the mansions section even though it was technically a downgrade. I called, used the chat feature and touring plans lol for the request and of course they assigned me 2 connecting rooms in building 14 in AB. Well we went straight to the front desk upon arrival and they were able to move us to 2 connecting wood view rooms in Oak Manor. They even gave me a credit for the difference in price of the room, I wasn’t expecting that because I had already gotten a heavily discounted FL resident rate for the preferred room. The refurbished rooms in the mansion section are really nice.
