My Journal to Me - Comments welcome!

Way to go, Anna! You passed Baskin Robbins & Krispy Kreme up! That is some serious willpower!:thumbsup2 Congratulations!:goodvibes

Don't worry too much about the scale....That number will go down soon!:goodvibes

Hope you have a great week ahead!:goodvibes

Laundry's done & everything is unpacked. Christmas is still everywhere. That will have to be on the list for the week. Decent day food wise. DH took kitchen duty today :cloud9: He made a yummy stirfry for dinner w/ lots of veggies. No exercise :sad2: Ok self - get your butt out there and get moving!!! I did manage to choke down 64 oz of water. I don't know why this has gotten so hard for me :confused3 ?

9:30a - 2 chocolate chip (7 chips/pancake) pancakes w/ 2T maple syrup, banana, 12 oz skim milk
12p - 1/2 ham sandwich on whole wheat, apple
6:15p - 10 wasabe peanuts, 1.5c stirfry chicken w/ veggies, 1/2c rice, 12oz skim milk
64oz water

Tracy - I was pretty pleased with myself for passing on BR & Krispy Kreme:banana: , but then blew it with the cookies.

Amy - yes, the scale was a good wake up call. Twice baked potatoes - yummy! You can definitely ski again! I have been coming up with every possible excuse every time I took the kids skiing for the past year, but when I actually got out there it was great! I can't wait to go again (not until spring break, unfortunately.)

Hi Anna,

I still have my Christmas stuff up too! We are the only ones on our street who still put their Christmas lights on every night. :rolleyes1

You did a great job with your food yesterday! Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

Have a great Monday!:goodvibes

I had to laugh when I read about your 8 cookies. Been there, done that!!! :lmao:

Don't worry about the scale, the weight will come back off. As for exercising, I bet once you get out there ONE TIME it will be much easier to do it the next time, and the next, etc.

Wow, you are lucky your DH cooks! Mine will grill, but other than that, NOTHING... :confused3

Glad to hear you had a nice trip...sounds like fun!
Everything will calm down and you will get back out there and start exercising again....and you'll be glad you did.
Goal for tomorrow - take down Christmas & exercise.

You can do it...you've done it before!!
marie

Sorry I didn't post last night. WARNING - whiny post! I'm definitely in a funk. I spent the day doing paperwork stuff, bills, etc. That always makes me cranky. I still have lots more to do for home and also for school (reading program & stupid newsletter). Christmas still isn't put away. I have returns to take care of and three packages to mail along with getting stamps for the thank you cards I made my kids do last week. Still need to do my own thank you cards. DD3 has a cold again so she is home from school today, not going to get my planned beach walk. Realized last night that, yes, we can make the multiple swim practices work with homework, but realistically, DD12 does not have any extra time to do the dinner dishes (her weekly chore this week). DD11 came home from school. This week she is student standout, on newsteam, and has the "hard" math packet. She can't do the dishes chore this week either. On top if it all, the stupid scale was 165.5! What did I expect? Sorry, I'm having a pity party ....

Food for Friday was sort of mixed bag. I was exhausted midafternoon and ate the darn candy bar I found in my stocking. DH called and offered to bring home dinner (instead of planned soup & salad). He brought Panda Express, but no Brocolli Beef. I looked up the Mongolian Beef, it wasn't great, but better than the Orange Chicken. I still made myself a salad for more veggies. After the kids were in bed, I was hungry and really wanted something sweet, but it was after 9pm, so I resisted. Went to bed cranky. I did drink water, but I can feel that my body is still not fully hydrated from the lack of water the past few weeks.

b- 1c Cheerios w/ 1/2 banana, 12oz skim milk
l- 1/2 ham sandwich on whole wheat, 15 pringles, apple
s- 1/2 banana, 1/2c FF cottage cheese, english toffee bar (found it in my stocking :sad2: )
d- 2/3c mongolian beef, 1/2c chow mein, big salad w/ cilantro dressing, 12oz skim milk
80.9 oz water

Tracy, DH got the lights down over the weekend, and the tree out for recycling, but the rest of the stuff is all still out. I am tired of looking at it, but at the same time, I don't want to pull out all the boxes to put it away. I need to do it though.

Amy, I do appreciate DH cooking, especially when the kids and I had been out of town all week, but he doesn't generally do "healthy" cooking. He's really not big on veggies, or reading labels. He bought pringles & lunch meat "on sale" over the weekend. The ham is 50% fat!!!! I told him I couldn't eat it and the kids don't even like it, so please buy the regular stuff even if it is not on sale. I'm going to throw this other stuff out. He tries, but I don't think he actually "gets" it.

Marie, you and Amy are right about the exercise. I just need to get out there, but I keep coming up with excuses :sad2: . I won't get a beach walk today with DD home sick and DH is out of town, but I am going to fit something in....

Hi anna
my DH gets cranky when he sorts through the bills!!
It sounds like you need to get back into your routine again, we weigh about the same, so maybe we can motivate each other :)
Ok me 1st - Come on Anna you can do it, get to that lovely beach that we are all so jealous of that your lucky enough to live near to!!!
Well done on drinking all that water, i may have to pinch your 2 new resoloutions as i dont drink enough or have enogh veg either!!!
Think chocolate - yuck, unhealthy, heart clogging stuff
Think veg - mmm lovely crunchy, healthy food full of vitamins zipping through your body :) Is it working????? :)

Husband's  . My hubby's idea of cooking is to throw a Papa Murphy's fully loaded pizza in the oven! And once my husband came home with turkey loaf, vs. turkey breast because it was cheaper. Of course its cheaper, its compressed turkey parts! You are really doing pretty well and getting back into the groove, which is no overnight, easy task. Just hang in there. Good job getting the water in. For some reason that is harder for me too. Maybe because I still have like 3 feet of snow in my yard and its cold outside. You can do it Anna!

 Anna,

I hope you're week gets better!:flower3: Be sure and do something special just for you!:goodvibes

Have a great Wednesday!

Sorry about the pity party yesterday  I was feeling sorry for myself.

Spent yesterday finishing up the paperwork junk. I also entered my food for the day into Fitday. The numbers were better than I thought, but still way too many fat grams (PB & pancakes). I know I need to get that in line. (can you tell I am procrastinating about putting away the Christmas stuff?) I also finally got a walk in - 60 minutes with DD in the jogger stroller. I can't say it felt great, but I wasn't hatin' it the whole time either. It was just one of those things that needed to get done. I'm a little sore this morning so I must have done some good.

b- 3 sm pancakes w/ 1/4 blueberries (no syrup for me)
l- PB & marmalade sandwich on whole wheat (I am not eating the turkey DH bought after reading the label!:scared1: ), 9 mini pretzels, 7 baby carrots
s- 3/4 apple (shared with DD3)
d- 1c chicken tortilla soup, big salad w/ 1t parmesan & 1T cilantro dressing, small glass wine (DH is out of town so I am on kid duty 24/7- nuff said)
Totals: Cal: 1143, Fat: 39g, Carbs: 151g, Fiber: 20g, Protein: 41g
4 f/v
96 oz water
60 minutes walking :yay:

Tracy -thanks for the  I appreciate it. Part of what makes me grumpy is I don't see where I do get any time for myself right now.

Amy - yep - pressed turkey and pressed ham! Stuff is nasty.

Tracey - Thanks! your post made me smile:) . Your all right, I need to figure out what my new routine is and get going.

Hey Anna
well done for getting a walk in :)
And drinking all that water :)
Your starting to get that routine going :)
Dont worry about feeling sorry for yourself we all do it....its my turn today! :)
Have a great week :)
:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Here is a little tip I finally learned - you will never GET time for yourself, you have to MAKE time for yourself! That is the only way I get to the gym - to write it on our family calendar and treat it like a Dr appt or something else that can't be broken. I bet if you make walking a priority you will be surprised at how easily all the other stuff still gets done...

You finally got the walk in, way to go! Now I think it will be easier to get back into a routine. Don't worry about the pity party! I'm sure I could find several entries in my journal doing the same thing... :rolleyes1

Lots of running around today so no time to eat. :car: (I wish my car actually looked like this :rotfl2: ) Went to school at 11:30 to do some stuff for the reading program, then returned stuff to 4 different stores. Picked DD11 & DD12 up from school, dropped DD11 at home and took DD12 directly to the pool for swim practice. Returned one more thing and went to the grocery store. Came home to drop off groceries and pick DD11 up for swim practice. Back at the pool, I bought a new team swimsuit for DD12 (actually, she's paying for it since she left hers in the locker room at the October swim meet - only wore it ONCE!) and a new team cap for DD11. By then DD12 was done with swim practice. DH arrived about 15 minutes later (he was running late) and we swapped cars. He took DD12 and DD3 home. Yes, DD3 has spent this entire time riding around in her car seat.:guilty: After DD11 finished swim practice, she had her first water polo practice. Took about 15 minutes for me to fill out the forms and then I had a blissful 45 minutes to myself in the car :cloud9: . It was cold and dark, but at least I was by myself. I thought about trying to get a walk in then, but there are not sidewalks or streetlights in the area and there are a lot of canyons, etc. I feel safe walking in the daylight here, but not at night. DD11 finished waterpolo practice at 7:45 and we made it home about 8:15p. DH had got DD3 ready for bed, but I needed to "kiss goodnight". By the time I actually sat down it was after 9pm.

I had good intentions for exercise today and actually started to do my step video. 18 minutes into it, I had to take a phone call. I confirmed once again that I really, really don't like aerobic videos. I am just too uncoordinated. I'm giving this one away. I'll keep my buns/abs/legs one, but this one has to go. I am counting the 18 minutes toward my exercise challenge, but not toward my new years resolution of exercising at least 3x/week.

9:30a- scrambled egg, 1/2 grapefruit
11:30a - granola bar
2:15p - baby carrots
3:00p - 1c chicken tortilla soup (nuked it and ate it in the car at the pool), clementine orange
4:00p - 1.2oz almonds
6:30p - 17 pretzels, LF LC wedge, apple
Totals: Cal: 867, Fat: 31g, Carbs: 122g, Fiber: 18g, Protein: 33g
(didn't eat enough calories and still had too much fat (almonds))
4 f/v
98 oz water
18 minutes exercise video

Amy - you are right about MAKING time for myself. I can do it on an occasional basis, but I haven't been good about it on a regular basis.

Tracey - Thanks for all the :) 's. :)

wow Anna
I'm tired just reading what you've done AND you managed to get 18 mins of exercise in!!!
Please be careful, we dont want you to get ill!
Hope your day is calmer tomorrow!

Maybe you can find some other workout videos that don't require coordination. I have been going to a Cardio Mix class and believe me, after doing jumping jacks, football shuffles, knee raises, etc, that is quite a workout and you don't need to be a dance major to do it!

OMG Anna, I don't know how you do it, but you do! You really are super mom. Luckily neither of my kids is gifted athletically and don't do sports! But they have lots of church stuff which is will start back up next week. Still, you must log about a 1000 miles a week on your minivan! I agree with Amy M., you just have to make time for yourself. And sometimes you have to put yourself first, which is hard for us moms to do, but in the long run, you are doing your daughters a favor by taking care of yourself! I am not too coordinated either, I can do step at a club but not at home. Unless I want to entertain my kids who once almost peed their pants watching me attempt to step at home! Now I do Walk Away the Pounds when I want to exercise via DVD. It can be easy or hard and you use 2 lb weights too. Much easier and much less amusing for my family! Don't worry about the pity thing (although I didn't think that was much pity for yourself at all), thats what WISH is for! Just keep hanging in there. January is tough but you are hanging in there and really doing very well. Great job getting in that 60 minute walk!

Wow Anna!

You sound super busy... How do you do it? You managed to get all of that stuff done and you added 18 minutes of exercise! You are amazing, woman!

I know what you mean about the exercise video thing.... Have you ever tried any of the FIRM videos? These are my favorites as far as weight training and aerobics go... It does take a couple of workouts to catch on, but with the weight training component, there's not a whole lot of intricate aerobics involved. If you would like some recommendations for FIRM workouts, please let me know.

I hope you have some rest and relaxation planned for the weekend. :cloud9: Take care!

Took DD3 to the Dr's this morning. She has yet another ear infection:sick: . Otherwise, it was a reasonably calm day. No swim practice  .

Eating wise, I did pretty well until the evening. I had Bunco and there were not really any healthy choices to choose from. I had a few jumbo prawns, a meatball, and small portions of salad and dip & crackers. I also had as many pineapple chunks as I thought I could get away with and not look like a pig.:rotfl2: . For dessert, I picked the smallest ice cream sandwich (no one was turning down dessert. Since I am new to the group, I didn't feel like I could be the only one to turn down dessert. :confused3 ) I did really well at the tables though with the nibbles. The whole night, I had less then 10 mac nuts, two hard candy things, and a tiny sliver of brittle. Completely passed on the mixed nuts, almonds and M&M's. Normally, I would have had handfuls of everything. I would have done better with the mac nuts but I spent all but three hands at that same table (yes, I got low score :rotfl2: ). I passed on the wine and drank water all evening too.

8:15a- 1c cheerios, 12 oz skim milk, clementine orange
12:30p- turkey sandwich on sourdough, tomato
4:00p- 9 mini pretzels, LFLC wedge, apple
7-10p- listed above
5 f/v
I didn't do totals today since I don't know about the dips, etc.
72 oz water before Bunco

Tracy- No such luck on a calm weekend. Swim meet Saturday & Sunday, DH's company party Saturday night, and @#&^$%&^ PTA newsletter on Monday. Thanks for the tip on FIRM. Yes, what would you suggest for the coordinationally challenged? :jester:

Amy- DH is appalled at all the "stuff" in my minivan (snacks, water bottles, shoes, change of clothes for DD3, books, toys for DD3, jackets, misc papers) but I pretty much live in the darn thing somedays. No way would I attempt an exercise video with anyone other than DD3 around.:rotfl2: . So Walk Away the Pounds is ok for the coordinationally challenged?

Amy- Your Cardio Mix class sounds like fun. The last time I was in a gym there were aerobics, step, pilates, and yoga. I was a complete fool in the aerobics and step. The yoga names made me giggle (yoga people frown on giggling:rotfl: ). I did like the pilates class, but it wasn't a great cardio workout and I had to stop going when I got pregnant with DD3. I switched to water aerobics - blue hairs & pregnant women:rotfl2: . I hope to rejoin the gym maybe next fall when DD3 is in school 3 days a week. It doesn't make sense to join now since I won't leave her at the daycare (she gets sick enough already!) It is good to know there are some "non-dance" type classes now.

Tracey- thankfully Thursday was a calmer day. Friday won't be too bad either, but it is a busy weekend.

All right folks, I need some help. DH's company party is Saturday night and it has a 70's theme. What the heck do we wear for a 70's theme? Oh, and I will be at a @#$ swim meet most of the day on Saturday so I have no time to get anything unless I send DH and DD3 out :confused3 . Any suggestions would be helpful.

TIA!

That Bunco night sounds like a real diet nightmare! Great job limiting your snacking, it's hard to do! Probably easier since you weren't drinking wine, that's where all my trouble starts!

I bet your gym has lots of fun classes. And if they don't have a Cardio Mix-type class, ask them! I know my gym is always open to suggestions.

As for the '70's stuff, I think bell bottoms were in. And long, straight hair with no bangs. Wasn't the Brady Bunch in the 70's?
