My Disney Experience "Directions"

Do you need to be in the park or resort area to be able to use MDE and get directions?
I wanted to try it prior to arriving and it states "no directions available". Just wondering??? Thanks.

By directions, to what are you referring? Directions to attractions within the parks or the resorts? If so, I would imagine you'd need to be on the property for that.

Yes. For example: Big River Grill & Brewing restaurant to Soarin in Epcot.

Directions are working fine for me on my iPhone. I've noticed the feature isn't available on the iPad app.

Also, I'm nowhere near the parks.

Eta: You can also use google maps for directions, if you can't get the app to work.

I just tried it and I'm sitting on my couch at home. It works.. I'm using the app on my iPhone too

Eta: it worked fine went I looked up directions in mk and hs. When I looked up your specific places it gave me "no routes, etc.." I'm thinking because Epcot is closed for the day.

It worked from android just now, but like PP mentioned, things that are closed didn't work but things that are opened did.

note: I live close to property (real close) so take this with a grain of salt as it might work for the orlando area to get you to the park.

I stand corrected (from another thread)...I just used the directions feature on my phone. Who knew?! Worked perfectly. Oh, I'm sitting about 1300 miles from WDW.

I should have asked, are you doing this on a phone or a tablet/ipod? Phones have GPS, most tablets do not. So a phone should work because it will give the geographical coordinates based on GPS, while a tablet or ipod will only give coordinates based on the IP address of the device.

I was not in the park when it wasn't working on my iPad . However, since I got to Disney World; it is working on my iPhone . Thanks for everyone's help.
