My Cat's Sick

Sorry to read about your cat, but I wanted to let you know that last December we were planning a 10 day trip to the world and a couple days before we left our female cat got very sick and we did have to put her sleep while we were in the happiest place on earth! If you have a vet that will board your cat, I would do that. That is the only thing that gave me piece of mind about the situation while we were gone. Our cat was diagnosed with diabetes just before we left and even though the vet tried to get her regulated--she just was too far gone already and there was nothing the vet could do for her.

So, please call your vet tomorrow and insist that you bring the cat in immediately. Sorry again to hear about your baby (cat)!

We just put our male cat down a couple weeks ago--cancer.

Almost two years ago, when I was 4 mos. pg with my 3rd dd, my precious kitty, Darien, was 10 and healthy as can be (or so it seemed). I had to drive about an hour away for a doctor's appt. and since the dr. was close to my grandma's house, we stopped there for a visit. Before I left, Darien was not herself. She seemed a little extra-sleepy when I pet her goodbye, but I didn't really think anything of it. When I came home that night, my DH had to tell me he found her dead. Darien was my girl (long before I had my 3 dd's), and I miss her terribly. I'm in tears right now.

I hope you and/or your parents take your cat to the vet tomorrow. Lots of love being sent to your kitty! I hope she gets well soon!

Boarding the cat is a GREAT suggestion! Also, I wanted to say I'm so sorry about your two kitties. I know how painful it is to lose your little friends.

HUGS!

Sorry to hear about your kitty. When I read your first post it reminded me of my kitty - he stopped eating and didn't move much and I could feel his bones. He was 14 and that is what attributed to his condition. He died before I could get him to a vet. But your kitty is still young I would definately call the vet in the AM and tell them your situation and I am pretty sure they will get you in tomorrow.

Pixie Dust to your kitty and you!! Hopefully its not anything serious.

What about a 24 hour clinic? They usually work on a walk in basis. It'll put your mind at ease if you can get your cat better before you go on your trip. Good luck!

I have two cats as well and used to have a rabbit - lost my rabbit a little over a year ago. They are my WORLD and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Hopefully, all will be well especially if you do get to the vet before your trip.

Have a wonderful trip to Disney and please let us know what happens. You are in our "cat prayers". :goodvibes :paw:

My thoughts exactly and if your regular vet is not available then there is SOMEONE in your town I am sure that would take her if you explain the circumstances, no way no how would I just not try to find someone to see my animals if they were sick and then head off on vacation to wonder how they are fairing while I am gone, that is just plain cruel. I went through this in Feb. I had a 20 year old cat that was failing and wouldn't you know he got really bad the night before I was to leave on a ski trip............so there I was at 4:30 am at an emergency vets office to have him put to sleep, but at least I knew I did right by him and he was not left for someone else to have to die, You 2 need to do the right thing, and I am sure there is some vet that will see him, he has been your friend for 7 years and deserves to be treated as such.

If you have any love for your pet at all, take her/him to the vet, NOW!

Please give us an update! We're worried about your kitty!

I am worried too. This does not sound good. I am going to echo the other posters and beg you to take your kitty to the vet.

Disneymomma. I have a cat named Darien. Our son named him. Until he came up with that name I had never heard it before and think it's a peach that you had a cat named Darien too!

Take your cat to the vet TODAY. Cats don't display signs of sickness until they're really bad off. Once they *act* sick, they're very sick.

I had a kitty who displayed symptoms similar to your cat's, and it turned out he had diabetes.

nliedel: Wow, I can't believe you have a cat named Darien! That is so cool. I bought her in Darien, IL, and my ex & I had just seen the movie The Crush with Alicia Silverstone, and her name in the movie was....DARIEN! So that's how we came up with the name. :)

I miss my Darien so much. She was soooo sweet. Sighhhh....

Please give us an update on your kitty!!! I hope she's okay!

The OP posted on another thread today. Funny no report about the cat. Hope the cat is OK.

I kind of got the feeling she has already made up her mind the kitty has to get better on its own and didn't appreciate all the advice & encouragement to get kitty to the vet. If I am wrong, I apoogize now... but she seems to have made up her mind that no vet would see her even though that's not true. I just don't think she wanted to deal with it. Again, if I am wrong, I'm sorry. I hope I am--I can't understand being so passive--vacation or not. If nothing else, mom & dad could take kitty to the vet. Vacations are exciting, but I could never get over the guilt if I just left things to go one way or another.

I'll second your thoughts..........I have been at work all day and looked for this thread as soon as I got home for some sort of update, I too thought that maybe the parents could take the cat in and at least find out what is wrong.

Take your sick kitty to a vet! It's sounds really bad and your kitty needs medical attention right now! Please don't wait. If your kitty is showing signs of being very ill than it IS VERY ILL.
Take the advice of all the above posters and take your kitty to a vet!
It's sooooo urgent that you do it now.
Please let us know how your kitty is doing.....We are all very concerned! Really....
Debbie

Please tell us that you have taken your kitty to the Vet's by now???
