My bird laid an egg!! Now what??

My parents have to do the same thing with their hens on occasion, but they use golf balls. Works like a charm, except for one time when we couldn't find a spare white ball lying around and tried to sneak in a hot pink one instead. The hen walked up to the nest, took a look inside, and backed off immediately, like, "How the hell did THAT happen?!" :rotfl:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:

What kind of oats do you get? I have a parakeet and he has his regular food, I would like to get him something else for a treat. I love him, he lets himself out every morning and stays out all day until about 8 at night. He is very friendly. He sits on our shoulders off and on all day singing.

Anything else he might like?

They are called "oats and groats" and they also like "millet sprays".:thumbsup2

Yes, my birds would sell their souls for groats and millet! You can find both at your local pet store, especially the chains like Petsmart. Mine also like salad - but take it out of the cage after a while so it doesn't rot. And my birds also like to bathe in a little birdy bathtub - not all of them do tho. At petsmart I can buy a small container of "real" grass and my birds go crazy over that! We have woods in our back yard so I go out and chop them branches of wild blueberry bushes (ones that haven't been sprayed) and tie them to the top of their cage where they go nuts chewing all the bark off - they also love climbing the branches.

Actually, my birds are fun to watch and I enjoy going in their room and watching them interact. Some days it is like a soap opera in there.. :)

My bird tries to take a bath in his water dish, but when I put something bigger out with water in it he won't go near it. I am going to work on that because he interacts with us alot, I think its because he is out all day. I am def. going to get some oats for him. We are so careful when we go outside to make sure he doesn't fly out. I hope I never forget he is on my shoulder and go out the door. My kids would kill me. I would feel horrible, as we are all so attached to him. I never realized how friendly they can be. I had other parakeets that I could never hold. I think with those I didn't spend enough time with them like I do this one. I want to try the blueberry branches. Sounds interesting. Thanks!

My sister had a female keet. I had a male, but they never mated. Lived in different cages. She started laying eggs and we freaked. The vet said there was nothing inside of them. SHe loved Peanut butter :rolleyes1

She was a little gymnast. Did flips etc. Taught my birdy to do them. Sadly she got cancer, and passed away on Christmas Eve :sad1:
