MVMCP, Worth the $?

Is MVMCP worth the money? My 3 year old loves Christmas (he was wearing Christmas PJs and a Santa hat to bed last night) but it is going to be expensive for the six of us to attend.:santa:

Our experience was a little different than most, I would imagine. My daughter and I were travelling with my parents and they had to leave early because a family member passed away. My daughter and I stayed and tried to make the best of it, so we went to the party without them. But I did feel a little depressed and sad, so I think that might have tainted my experience a little bit at least.

Most of our party time was spent staking out good spots for the parade and fireworks which were AMAZING. I think the admission price is worth it just for that. It was too cold to wait in line for characters or do any rides though, so we just walked around a bit and enjoyed the ambiance.

I don't think I'd do it again, but I don't regret going at all.

Our kids feel asleep so if your child is going to be 3 then I would say "no". You can get alot of Christmas during the day and at the resorts that you do not need the party.

If you've never been to one then I think you should. We all enjoy different experiences so for you it may well be worth it. If I got the chance to take time off work to go to WDW I'd deffinately do it!

If you do go and you don't think it's worth the cost - don't worry about it, cross it off your list and don't go again. I'm sure you'll enjoy it though, I've read good things about MVMCP :)

We are a family of 6, and we love the party. The key is to get in at 4pm, they let you in early, go on the rides then, and eat dinner before the party starts at 7, they have dance parties, picture ops ya normally dont get, the characters are in there Christmas best, and are so cute!! The shows fill the night, they are really good! The free cookies, got cocoa, apple cider, and apple slices are great too!! I say experience this once, if ya don't like it, then dont go back, but for my family, we go every year. Its a really neat atmopshere, they sell clothing and pins that you normally can't get at other times, to me, its worth it. We all dressed in our Christmas pj's that night, we were all comfy!!LOL
They sell Cocoa in these cute cups, also have light up cups, ect..
Now, if you are going to any other park, I recommend if you don't go to this go to DHS, your LO will love the lights!!! They are awesome!!!! :O)
HAve fun!!!

We've been three years in a row, and this last year we went twice. WE love it! Maybe it's because I'm a bit of a Christmas freak and just love love love this holiday. I walk through the front gates of MK and hear the Xmas music, see the snow falling, see everyone dressed up in their Xmas gear, and I just want to cry because I'm so happy (corny, I know, but true). It truly is magical for us.

With that being said, we also go during November during the first week of parties, so they are never very crowded. We haven't had to wait for rides, the lines for the characters are usually very short, I don't pick out a spot for fireworks (they're up in the sky- everyone can see them no matter where you are in the park, so why waste the time staking out a good spot?), and we usually catch the second parade, which is less crowded than the first. Another tip- we watch the parade over by Liberty Square, which is less crowded than Main Street.

In terms of children, it depends on your child. We're very lucky and our DS3 is very flexible. He goes to bed at home around 8, but we're relaxed when we go to Disney and he stays awake until he falls asleep in the stroller, usually around 10 or 11. At that point, DH and I are just happy to walk around, stop for the hot cocoa and cookie, and enjoy ourselves.

My advice- try it. I too first balked when I saw the price of the tickets, but I am so happy we tried it because it is now a nice little tradition we have when we go each year.

We're a family of 5 and attended twice this past Christmas, and really enjoyed ourselves. Of course I love Christmas, and hearing the Christmas music in the park and riding the rides, the holiday dressed characters, the parade, the fireworks, cocoa and cookies were all magic for us. Of course the kids really liked the holiday decorations on Mickey and Minnie's country houses, so sad they are gone now.

Now to get the most out of the $$ tickets, I recomend you don't go to the park that day, rather sleep in, go to DTD or hang out at your resort, then just use your MVMCP tix to get in to the park around 4pm. If you want to do a character meal or TS dining, do that before 7 pm as well. But from 4-12 is a good eight hours at the park!

Also, be prepared for some cooler temps! I swear we were the only people in sweaters last Dec, and got stopped multiple times and asked where in the park we bought them. Um we checked the weather forcast, and packed them. Yes if you are from somewhere snowy and cold, 40 or 50 might seem like it will be warm, but at night in the parks, with a breeze, you will be cold!

stacyleigh, I'm not sure we will go this year or not but our trip is Nov 15-22 so I'm entertaining the idea. You said you've been the first couple dates in Nov. and the ride lines weren't bad. That's my main worry, is the crowds. My problem is though that we would not come in as early as 4 but rather 6-7 in the evening and I'm not sure what ride lines are like AFTER the party itself starts. Can you tell me?
I also don't understand getting a spot for fireworks because you can see them everywhere pretty much? Are the fireworks themselves different than the Wishes ones? Obviously the music is but I wasn't sure if that was all.

the fireworks are different, and yes you can see them from locations in the park, but some of the show is on/near the castle front and not visible everywhere. Plus for me I really like seeing the fireworks over the castle. (we went to 2 parties, the first watching the fireworks in front of the castle, and the second we just saw them from where we were in the park. Both were good, but the castle front were better in my opinion).

We are not fans of the Christmas party. We used to love it, but have watched each year the price go up, more tickets sold and some of our favorites taken away as well as some of the perks. If you can afford it and have never done it , it is worth at least one visit. But for us it is too expensive and gets TOO crowded.Yes, Disney sells only a certain number of tickets, but when you have EVERYONE jockeying to see the same few special things ( Parade,Fireworks, Holiday offerings) it gets to be too many people.

Couldn't have said it better myself. We will never miss MNSSHP but I'm becoming less impressed with MVMCP. Won't be attending this year.

We went for our first christmas party last November and loved it. We wouldn't do it just for the rides, but how many other times do you get a chance to take a pic with all 7 dwarfs? DW loves the characters, and there are rare ones that come out at the parties. We won't rush to do another one, but in a few years, I'm sure we'll do a MNSSHP to get some of those pics as well.

*we are DVC members, so there was a nice little discount for our tickets as well though*

last year we went for the first time. it was the 2nd party of the season and it was crazy busy for a thursday night. the character greetings were amazing though--they were everywhere. for that experience alone, it was well worth it. the fireworks were great, and we also loved the parade. would we do this every year, no... would we do it every couple of years... sure. do you need to do it at least once... yes.

My dd, when 3 1/2, closed MVMCP. But she's a night kid, so if your child needs to be in bed by a certain time (or gets up at a certain time no matter how late he goes to bed), it could be painful. If he's a night kid, he'd probably love it.

Absolutely worth every cent. We went back in 2009 and loved every bit of it. The characters were so cute in their Holiday outfits and the Castle looks gorgeous with all the twinkling lights on it. Also, the parade, fireworks, and the different things that go on throughout the party is awesome. We went to the MNSSHP in September and we all said that we would go back to MVMCP before going back to the Halloween party, don't get me wrong we had a good time at the Halloween Party, it's just that we loved the Christmas Party much better.

NO...felt like a complete waste of money to us. ..we have done the halloween party twice and loved it!!

It's nice, but they charge way too much for it. The parade and fireworks are great, and so's the show on the castle stage. But they took away Belle's Christmas story, which kids loved. And they replaced Night Before Christmas with an awful Stitch-themed show.
