How cold have you party-goers been? We will be there for the party on the 14th. I'm afraid we're going to be cold. We've never been to WDW or Florida so I find it comical that I am worried about being warm! Any advice?

It's no joke! It can be cold, and I live in a fairly cold place. In 2010, the daytime highs sometimes didn't break 50 and the overnight lows were at about freezing. At night, with no sun, it's for real! Just be prepared for anything. It could also be warm.

Okay, I might be going off the deep-end BUT, we're coming in from Chicago. I'll have my parka...too much? I could put them a locker for the day. Is that ridiculous? I'm not into being cold.

Feel free to point and laugh if you see me in my North Face Parka at WDW! :D

Not at all, neighbor. I have been at WDW a lot of Decembers (not this one though, just had knee replaced) and many have been cool/gold/frigid. 2010 was the worst. Many of the bushes, topiaries, plants, etc were covered to prevent frost kill.

At night, even temperatures in the 40's are very uncomfortable. Here back in our Chicago, those temperatures feel like spring time, but not there.

Enjoy.

Chicago is colder than Syracuse, but still- imagine standing around in 40 degrees. It's not Chicago cold, but it's brisk. I don't think you'd be overdressed. Just check the forecast first :)

The year we went at Christmas time it was below freezing one night; seems like I remember the CM's saying something about it being record cold one night during our stay but I never checked it out. We are from the midwest and used to cold; but it didn't dawn on us to pack that way for that trip. So I would overpack just to keep you from scrambling to buy stuff. I remember buying thick blankets for the kids in their strollers, gloves, stocking hats, etc. It definitely added to the expense of the trip!

Exactly this. In October our MK night was a little chillier than I thought it would be. We couldn't leave because we had Wishes Dessert Party ressies, so I ended up spending $80 on jackets for me and my DS. This time I'm taking said jackets, and a few extra layers just in case. :cold:

Depends on how cold you feel in mid/low 50s are since that is evening forecast for 12/14.

Humidity or rain will make a difference in how the temperatures feel. It won't hurt to pack some winter clothes just in case.

We are here now and it is definitely cold when the sun goes down. We are from Nova Scotia, Canada, so can take the cold, but if you spend the day is shorts and a t-shirt like we are, you will want long pants and a coat for the evening. Better to layer up. Definitely take advantage of the lockers. They are not large, but can accommodate coats for sure. I think it is calling for a bit warmer temps by the time you are here, but I imagine it will still be chilly in the evening. Enjoy the party!!

The weather can change fast down there. Right now it says the high will be about 68 that day with a night time low of about 46. That puts it probably in the 50s in the later hours of your parties. For us that would be sweaters or sweatshirts and fleece jackets probably.

You never know when a cold or warm front might suddenly blow through though. We have been to MVMCP in shorts and short sleeved shirts and been fine and even irritated because it was too warm to wear our Christmas stuff we brought for the party. We have also been to MVMCP in full coats and gloves and still been cold. We tend to go to MVMCP more than once in the week we are there, so I'm pretty sure there was one year that we did both- one party in shorts weather, and one party in really cold weather in the same week. Either way we have always had a great time! Hopefully you will be having to much fun to worry too much about how cold you are! Just be sure you are packed for anything!

I was there in 2012. It got into the 70's during the day and family members would swim. Once the sun went down, it was in the 40's. I remember one morning started off at 45 degrees. I'm from Wisconsin. When I plan to return in February, I'm taking my winter outerwear with me. I'll need it when I get off the return flight, anyway.

There are a lot of different forecasts but the one I am now looking at says high 67 low 41. The colder temps are going to be when the sun goes down. The issue with daily forecasts appears to be that it's a 24 hour midnight-midnight period. If the low does hit the forecasted 41 it could be, for example, at 2 AM on the 14th which would be before you even get to the park. It's just that in that 24 hour period you should be prepared for the temps to get that low, like having long pants, a jacket or sweatshirt, maybe gloves/hat/scarf handy if you think you may need them at some point and you don't want to buy them from a store in the park. I am not thinking I would take along a parka if I was out that night but definitely a sweatshirt and maybe an outer jacket if it does get that low. The presence of wind or humidity might change how cold it actually feels, too, as far as being prepared. Fortunately rain is not in the forecast at all.

When it gets closer then the forecast I'm looking at will have morning/daytime/evening forecasts too, it doesn't have them for Sunday right now.

Thanks for the input! I am so not a planner so this is the most I have ever planned a trip. I guess I'll just take a bit of everything and take it day by day. :thumbsup2

The extended forecast for your day is a little chillier than the one for us. We're going on the 16th and the projections are a high of 75 and a low of 57. I think you've been given good advice and have a good plan. // What I'm planning to do is wear jeans, a sweater, and a fleece jacket and leave my parka in my car. That low of 44 instead of 57 prediction would have me putting that parka in a locker.

For December trips in Orlando (This will be our eight one at this time of year), I always bring both a lighter fleece jacket and a parka, jeans and long sleeved shirts, shorts and short sleeved shirt, and a swimsuit. The highest high on our trips this time of year has been 82 (out of the ordinary, but wonderful). The lowest low we had was 33 -- burr it was freezing at night, but I had my parka and mittens and was much more comfortable than most other people. So we do pack a pretty decent sized suitcase for each person in the family, due to both winter and summer clothes and bulky winter parkas. Weather is unpredictable this time of year for sure and can changed from forecasts, so I think doing what you are talking about is a great idea.:thumbsup2

we just arrived and are planning on 7am RD tomorrow. forecast calling for 42 degrees then. we are bringing lots of layers to take things off as day goes along then put it back on when sun sets.

We were at the MVMCP on the 9th. Daytime high was 63 and overnight was 42. Arrived at 4ish. I wouldn't say you would need a parka, a medium coat. We put on base layer insulated underware, like tights, and were comfortable. Let the bigger coat in locker and wore a lighter coat. Wind was blowing a little so if you got in the wind it was colder. DW said she could have used something on her head but other than that, not bad at all. We watched the first castle lighting at 6:15, rode a few after 7, tomorrowland chistmas at 7:45, rode some more, was around the hub at 9 for Celebrate the magic 9:15, Holiday wishes at 9:30, Celebrate the season at 10:05 (a lot were leaving after the fireworks), and watched the Christmastime parade at 10:30, definely take the second parade if you can.

We were at the Party on Tuesday night. We're from the North, but we were COLD!! layered as much on as we could to make it tolerable.:santa:
