In a few weeks we will be on our Orlando Vacation! We plan to spend the majority of the time at WDW, however want to designate one day to SW. What do we need to make sure we DO NOT MISS? We will have our 5 yo and 1 yo with us. (The last time I was at SW I was 9, so I'm excited to go back!)

If you spend the whole day there you likely won't need to miss anything - the crowds shouldn't be too bad. Get yourself a park map when you get there and plan out the showtimes you want to go to so you don't miss one...some of the animal shows are only done a couple of times a day.

Definitely see Sea Lion High- it's my favorite show

Well, it would be a real shame to miss the Shamu show. Kind of like going to Disney World and not meeting Mickey Mouse!!

I think that your five year old, especially, will love Pets Ahoy. I would be sure to catch that show too.

Sea Lion High is fantastic, as is Blue Horizons (dolphin show).

Plan for some time in Shamu's Happy Harbour. Kid sized rides and play areas, all designed with the youngest guests in mind.

Budget and set aside time for animal feeding. Its a cool experience to feed a sting ray, a sea lion, etc....your five year old will be enthralled!

Shark Encounter is worth a visit. You walk through a tunnel and the sharks are all above you.

Turtle Trek, the Sky Tower (assuming its reopened by then....it had some technical difficulties last month and has been closed since) and Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin are all rides you can do together. Antarctica, in particular, has a penguin viewing area following the ride that is so cool! (literally and figuratively)

How much do they usually charge for feeding?

I can't remember exactly.....I want to say about $5 per person/tray. They used to have a special deal where you could feed three animals (sea lions, sting ray, sharks maybe?) for $10....not sure if that's still an option or not. We were just there on Christmas Day, but didn't choose to do any feedings that visit so I can't confirm current pricing.

I definitely agree with Gina. Pets Ahoy is a lot of fun. I have not seen Sea Lion High, but its predecessor, "Clyde and Seamore," was one of my kids' favorites. I also second the stingray feeding. Kids love it! In fact, they just love touching the rays as they swim by. And the play area at Shamu's Happy Harbor is great. There is a large net, tunnel, and slide play area. Be warned that if you go in there with your five year old, you will get a workout! There is also a wet play area if you want to bring swimsuits.

I would also add the dolphin nursery. This is a separate tank that usually has some baby/juvenile dolphins swimming around with their mothers. Every time I have been there, a SW employee was available to answer questions.

If you feed the Stingrays, hold onto your tray of food! We were there yesterday and a family had their tray sitting on the ledge. An Egret flew in, grabbed the tray and took it away!

I agree with Gina also. We were there in December but the park was open until 10:00. You should be able to get everything done in one day, just figure out the shows you want - they are all fairly close to each other except for the Shamu show. I would see the Turtle Trek aquarium, but would probably skip the 3D movie, then head out and see the manatees.

I did a trip report on the Universal Trip Report thread that has my Sea World days (it starts "I Won a Trip to Sea World!!...). I would start on the left side of the park (stingrays first and head around that way), you should make quite a bit of the park. I believe all the food trays are $5 although there might be a bargain if you bought 2. So much to remember! lol

We loved Sea World and feeding the sea lions is one of DS13's favorite memories of the trip.

If you have time, you should try and ride the Manta roller coaster. I think you should be able to child swap. It is really a fun and crazy coaster!

You will have a great day!

They may have been given a "Feed the Egrets" tray by mistake...

I looked at the SW website and it mentions being able to feed the stingrays. I can't find info on feeding anything else. What else can you feed?

I am a first time visitor to SeaWorld in a few weeks and was wondering is it worth doing a tour 1st time around IYO or more or less just tour the park?

I would just tour the park. There is plenty to see without a backstage tour. Save that for another visit.

Thanks for advice. As it would the tour will not be running from Feb 4th to the 29th. I was told that this morning. No biggie.

Feeding and petting the stingrays is #1 on our priority list. You don't have to feed them to pet them. With the dolphins you have to feed them to pet them. The kids loved the pets ahoy show, heck so did I.
