Hi everyone! I'm planning a trip to the World in Dec 10 for just my husband and I. We've been a number of times with our kids, but this time we're leaving them at home! We're going to be there 4 days and I just wondered what some recommendations are on things that we should not miss since we won't be "strapped" to our kids;). Thanks!

Don't know what you enjoy, but, a few things we like to do are rent a pontoon boat for a leisurely afternoon cruise around Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon;
head to the Polynesian Beach a half or so before Wishes starts at the MK and grab a cocktail from the pool bar (or if weather is chilly and pool bar not open from the Tambu Lounge inside..you need to tell them you're taking it outside and they put it in a plastic cup) and then grab a lounge chair and watch Wishes from the beach.....one thing though......you need to position yourself close to the small speakers you'll see along the walkway....for some reason even though the music and words from Wishes are piped in it's very low and if you're not near a speaker you won't hear anything; head to Epcot before Illuminations, grab a bench and do the same as for Wishes.......take your pick from which country you would like to sample a drink; simply take a good book and lounge by your resort pool for a few hours in the afternoon; rent a surrey bike at either Boardwalk or at Wilderness Lodge.....ride around Crescent Lake or over to Ft. Wilderness; head out for a leisurely breakfast buffet at Boma; head over to POR River Roost to catch Bob Jackson's show.....if you'd rather have a more adult oriented crowd...wait until about 9:30 p.m. to head there....he's lots of fun and really gets his audience involved.

Oooohhhh - we're staying at POFQ, so we will definitely have to check this out. I've heard it's good. I'll have to check show times. Thanks!

I'd definitely do a couple of nice meals - I think the signature restaurants are really worth it and the atmosphere really nice. I've enjoyed Artist Point at WL. Also if you are staying at POFQ - the boat to DTD is lovely just for the ambiance - if not for the shopping and restaurants at DTD. Another thought Cirque de Soleil La Nouba if you'd like a show. Have fun planning!:surfweb::goodvibes

Keys to the kingdom at magic kingdom, also the epcot segway tour is a lot of fun... we've been 8 times just us and now have a four month old. Enjoy for us!!

they do carriage rides at POR and wilderness lodge....they do themes for some holidays. We are going next week and I am surprising DH with a carriage ride and champagne ordered from Disney florist.

Make sure you stop at the Scat Cat and listen to Elliot Dyson. :thumbsup2

Both tours are excellent. I liked the Segway tour better, though. Also, I'd recommend dinner at California Grill or another signature dining restaurant with views of one of the parks' fireworks shows.

Now is the time to do Keys To The Kingdom tour if you haven't been on it because children under 16 are not allowed. It was very interesting to see all the behind the scenes stuff. Before I took that tour I didn't know that Magic Kingdom is really on the second floor. There is an entire city underneath it. :thumbsup2

If you like good music, don't miss Jellyrolls on the Boardwalk. My wife and I make sure we spend a night there during every visit.

There's so much for adults to do at WDW without the kids! (My husband and I don't have children but love going to WDW.) We really enjoy a leisurely afternoon or evening at World Showcase at Epcot, stopping for a glass of wine in France, maybe a beer in Germany and just soaking up the atmosphere with no agenda otherthan to enjoy our time together.

Any boat ride at Disney is great, but if you can swing it, the boat from MK to the Wilderness Lodge (or the WL to the MK) at night can be really special. Another romantic option is hitting the beach at the Polynesian in the evening. I'd also recommend a morning at the Grand Floridian Spa if it is in your budget -- bliss!

One of the things we love about WDW is that there's something wonderful to see at every turn. Take time to enjoy things like lingering over a glass of champagne in the lobby of the Grand Floridian, really exploring the Oasis at Animal Kingdom, hitting the hot tub after a long day in the parks, stolling around Crescent Lake holding hands -- well, you get the idea.

As others have said, don't miss having a dinner or two at WDW's signature restaurants. They are all special in different ways and you really can't go wrong. We really like Flying Fish on the Boardwalk (the food is fantastic as is the service; plus you can then head out to Jellyrolls), the California Grill at the Contemporary (even if the food wasn't delicious we'd go for the MK fireworks view) and the Brown Derby at Hollywood Studios (also great lunch, especially when you need a midday break).

You'll have a wonderful time!!

Hey we are from KY(Louisville) and we too are going to be there in Dec(9th-10th) too celebrating our anniv. w/o kids for the first time. I was wondering the same things.

I second both of these DH and I were there last Sept for our anniversary and we did Yachtman's Steakhouse (very yummy!! even for me and Im not big on steak but theirs is good) and then went to La Nouba and we both LOVED it!! It was so good... no Im sorry it was INCREDIBLE!!! :goodvibes

I agrre about Cirque de Soleil La Nouba ....also we love doing the Segway Tours. Around the World is the best. You also may consider doing some of the tours they offer. We have done Keys to the Kingdom, Backsage Safari and enjoyed those very much. Go to Ft Wilderness and take a carriage ride. Great during Christmas. All the sites are decorated. We ate at Trails End then went for the ride, afterward watched the Water Pagent from the dock.

Because you are going during the Christmas season I suggest you take advantage of the special things that aren't quite so appealing to the youngsters. Try and see the Santas at EPCOT, their stories are wonderful. Don't miss the Candlelight Processional. Make sure to plan on a full evening at Osborne Lights and enjoy the snow. Plan at least one special dinner. We like Jiko. Before or after dinner you can walk around the resort and enjoy the animals and use your PhotoPass for a great Christmas picture in front of the tree in the lobby. Our Christmas season trip to DW was our best couple trip to DW. You feel special and romantic.

If you can swing it, have dinner at Victoria & Alberts. Super nice and very grown up. :thumbsup2

Pick a tour.........just about anyone is fantastic. We've done Steam Train, keys to Kingdom, Backstage Animal Kingdom, Wild by Design, backstage Epcot, and Segways. We signed up for swimming in the fishtank but I chickened out. We've done several of these tours twice.

Another great thing is dining with an imagineer. Lunch is Brown Derby, dinner is at Flying fish. We've done this twice also. The meal is awesome! (one lady at our lunch was having her 36th dinner with an imagineer. She was collecting them.... in fact she requested the one we got specifically as he was one of 5 she hadn't eaten with yet).

Once we sent our DD off to college we started going to WDW annually. We have been more times without her, than with her along.

these are some awesome ideas! I never knew disney had the speciality cruises and never thought about the "beach" behind poly for fireworks etc. My gf and I are coming in march and I plan to propose during that week. We are into disney like crazy and she loves WDW. So this is some stuff I will have to check into
