Barcelona DCL to DLP?

Hi all - we’re considering visiting DLP following our DCL cruise next summer from Barcelona. Has anyone done this before?

Originally I figured we’d fly from Barcelona to Paris and then take the train but apparently there is a high speed train that can get you there in 7+ hrs, which seems like it could be a better option…esp since we had been planning to head straight there vs spending a couple of days in Paris.

Open to any suggestions/recs.

Thanks!

Hello,

I took the train from Barcelona to Paris after we disembarked from the DCL. I enjoyed it. The train ride went by quickly. You should buy your ticket way in advance because it’ll be cheaper.

Early last year we took the Disney Dream eastbound transatlantic to Barcelona.

We didn't take the train but we did fly from Barcelona to DLP and it was a very easy process especially with a lot of luggage, a toddler, and a pregnant wife. I can't speak for taking the train there but I'll speak to our experience flying there.

When disembarking from the Disney Dream, our hotel arranged a private shuttle for us to take to the hotel and we stayed about a week in Barcelona. Hotel also arranged for a private shuttle to the airport. Once at CDG, we took the Magical Shuttle straight to our hotel in DLP, Disney's Hotel New York - Art of Marvel. Took the same shuttle when heading back to CDG airport.

Shuttles with hotel and magical shuttle were all coordinated prior to going on the cruise. Everything was easy, straightforward, and no issues or hiccups along the way that I would do it this way again.

I found this thread very helpful when I planned our trip last year

we flew to Paris, went to DLP & stayed at Marvel hotel which was great,
then flew to Italy, toured there for a week and took RCCL TA back (originally suppossed to be on the Dream & had to change dates for work)
amazing trip, we've never been away for that long

Depending on how luggage heavy you travel, flying may actually be easier than taking the train. While most high speed long distance trains will have some luggage racks at the end of each car for those larger bags that can't fit above your seat, you do need to lug them on the train, off the train and from experience, this is really annoying... especially if you travel with more bags than the #of people able to lift/carry bags.

Also, unless you book really early, the train can be quite expensive on that route... even with extras like seats and luggage, flying can end up being cheaper.

Another consideration is that the train is direct to Paris, but not DLP. You could transfer for a direct train to DLP along the way, but otherwise, you need to backtrack to DLP on a local train. From CDG, you do have the TGV train of the DLP shuttle bus available (also available from Orly).

While I am a big fan of the train, this is one route where I'd rather fly
