Mummy and Terminator

Can a child that is under 48 inches ride the Mummy with a parent beside them? I'm going with 3 of my kids under 12, and we are all wanting to ride this. My two older boys are tall enough, but my girl is only 47 inches.

Also, how physiologically intense is The Terminator and The Mummy? I know I'm being a little selfish, but I am dying to go on both of these, and my DH isn't coming along to swap out with me. I know every kid has their own fear tolerance, but I'm not sure what hers is. She loves regular roller coasters, but we've never been on any type of ride simulator. I wonder if things get too intense if my dd could hide her face next to me?? Or would it be better not to take her on these??

I don't think it is a good idea. If a child is too short to ride something then they should not ride it. The height requirement is there for safety reasons not, because they think your child can't tolerate it. Plus, on the Mummy, your are actually in separate seats with separate restraints so you wouldn't really be able to hold on to the child if you needed too. I used to work at Universal and this was a huge pet peeve for me. Even if a child is only 1" too short they should not ride. This is for your own child’s safety. Please, just don't argue with the attendant if they stop you, that use to drive me crazy when I worked there. Remember, The Mummy (while not a big one) is still a rollercoaster. I know most people think that height requirements are not that big of a deal but, that is just not true. I've seen young children get hurt on Spider-man when they were tall enough.

The Terminator has real motorcycles and some "gunfire". I don't really think it is very scary.

terminator is actually a 4-D movie/show interspersed with live actors that exit and enter the screen. there is a lot of 'live' gunfire in the theater that is very loud. the 3-D effects are intense. but she can take off her 3-D glasses and close her eyes if she wants. you see parents leaving with screaming babies and little kids out of this show everytime.

have her grow another inch for the mummy. the TM's will measure her. the cars fit 4 people to a row, and everyone has an individual restraint. so they won't let her ride even with you there next to her. make one of your boys do the child swap with her so you can ride.

I just read somewhere that a child under 48 could ride as long as a parent was next to her. That's what I wanted to check on.

What is the safety enviroment like at US? I'm very cautious about leaving my kids alone. Do y'all think it would be safe to leave my 12 yos with my dd while I ride The Mummy?

my daughter is 12 and if she has a friend and a cell phone, they roam the parks on their own. the child swap is right off of the unload area on the mummy. there's a TM right there. the first time my daughter rode the hulk, she was an inch too short to ride. but she made it on and rode with her hands up the whole time.

You could leave your 12 year old with your DD in the child swap area. That way you know exactly where they are.

That is only true for rides WITHOUT height requirements: Cat in the Hat,
Storm Force, Caro-Seuss-el, One Fish Two Fish, ET, Jaws, Earthquake.

I think Terminator can be quite intense for kids under 12. There is a lot of action, gunfire, motorcycle on stage and other live stunts.

Terminator is pg13 attraction my kids went to Terminator at the ages of 8 and 10 and loved it in may son 9 daughter 11 went on the Mummy loved it we rode it 33 times in our 2 or so visits to the park that trip

My 7 year old was actually tall enough to ride the Mummy only because of her shoes. She loves thrill rides. She was estatic to get on and once it started she lost it! She was horrified! She cried throughout the entire ride. She enjoyed the Terminator show, it was not too intense for her. She loves 3-D though. We're going back for Easter and she said she wants to do the Mummy again I think she knows what to expect this time around. I'll leave it up to her.

I think the Mummy is too intense for small children. It is freightning....bugs, mummies, scary voices, fire and it looks very real, well the fire is real....I would not recommend this ride for small ones at all. It is a scary ride that happens to be a rollercoaster....it's not just a roller coaster. It scared the crap out of me and I am in my 40's! Thank God Finnigan's is across the way...I needed more than a few Margaritas after that one. Well actually I loved it...I will use anything as an excuse to have a Margarita or three.

I always need a shot of something after Dr.Doom! That first shot up when you hit the top always makes me nervous...I am quite sure I will one day go flying! I realize the restraints are equally important on other attractions that turn you upside down, but for some reason, that one gets me! I still do it...but... :

we got stuck at the top of the 'Hellavator' at SF kentucky kingdom for 10 minutes. Doom is one of my favorites because after the launch, you know you're coming down. one way or another...

you know that pause at the top when all of the cars synch up before they drop you? that pause turned out to be 10 minutes. it was dead silent except for people crying and the tower waving in the wind. they were finally able to bring us down slowly. Doom's the only tower ride I'll do now.
