I agree w/va32h that the DE will disband b/c there isn't another character as charasmatic as Voldemort. Let's face it, Bellatrix doesn't have half the charm that Voldie has ... and I doubt that people would want to follow her.

Even if Voldie names a person to follow in his footsteps (Bellatrix or otherwise) I would doubt that the "new" leader could continue b/c there wouldn't be the charisma followed by fear tactics that Voldie used. If he said "Oh, if anything happens to me this person is going to take over for me. He/she is the right person to continue our mission and you must trust me as I've never misled you before, blah, blah, blah" ... do you really think that the DE's would "fall" for it and "run" with it!? We know what a good charmer Voldie can be ... but I doubt he could set up someone to be as powerful of a leader as he is. If anything, they might follow for a bit and become disenchanted b/c the leader wouldn't have the charisma followed by the fear/power that Voldie had.

I agree that people like Bellatrix will die in this next book. I also believe that you're right in that the DE's that are left will just crawl away and try to be 'normal' after LV is defeated.

Joining in late, but as it seems a new topic has just started, I hope that's OK.

I think the DE's will disband after V is gone. Beside the fact that the final battle will probably be so big that a lot of his higher-up followers will be killed along with him, I think any that are left will follow the same pattern as before and just lose their nerve without a leader.

Of course, someone could always come along again some day and start the whole thing over....

ETA: Just saw an article about how there are many parents who are "outraged" at Dan's decision to go nude in this play and they will be boycotting any future films he is involved in, including HP. All I can say to that is that some people need to remove the stick from up their butts and get over it.

I honestly cannot comprehend being outraged by that kind of stuff. He's an ACTOR, that's what they do. Did these parents think he was going to play Harry Potter type characters forever? One lady said she was upset because her 9 year old son looked up to Dan. I'm still failing to see the problem here. I highly doubt her 9 year old will be seeing Equus and the character he plays is entirely separate from Dan as a person. Why is it such a bad thing that he wants to prove his range as an actor? Some people just make me go

That's crazy...I agree some people are just out there! I think it's great he's doing something else other than HP. E! and VH1 always have the children actors who end up doing nothing later on in life because that's all they are known for. By Dan doing different styles of movies/plays he can hopefully have a long run for his career.

I'd rather him be in the news for something of this nature, most child 'stars' have been in the news for excessive drug use, drinking, multiple sexual relationships, etc by this age. If this is how he wants to show that he's growing up and isn't just Harry Potter, I'd rather him go this route than the other. Plus, he's just so darn easy to look at, how could I have a probem with it??

The thing is I can't really think of any other young male stars (under 20)...nevermind ones that have this effect on women.

No, I can't really think of any others either. I don't know...maybe it's because he just exudes confidence and a maturity beyond his age. In all the interviews I've ever seen with him he's just always seemed really beyond his years. I don't know what it is. Maybe because being in that business kind of forces that on you. But he could be handling it a lot differently. He could pull a Lindsey Lohan or a Britney Spears as far as partying goes. But the thing that strikes me about him is that he seems to truly LOVE acting and doesn't need any of that other stuff because it's really fulfilling for him. He doesn't need to act out or start drinking and smoking or doing drugs. He's happy growing as an actor, learning, and taking on new roles to help expand his talents. That's a very mature, adult thing to do and maybe that's one of the things that makes him so attractive. The nice bod doesn't hurt either

His parents also appear to be normal, responsible, professional people who don't want to be famous themselves.

Many of these messed-up child stars seem to come from families where the parents want to live off the child's earnings and be notorious in their own right (Macauley Culkin, Lindsey Lohan).

I just read the article about the play. It's run is 16 weeks! I can't imagine having to portray the character like that just about every night for 16 weeks. YIKES!
