*~* Muggles, Welcome to the Burrow! *~*

Holy cow! I just had to message my cousin on MySpace because we go to see the movies together! This is going to be great!

Wow! That trailer is fantastic!! I am going to watch that again. Thanks va32h!!

I wish it was July already, I need my HP fix.

Wow - we're into less that 3 full months now! Hooray...

I was reading online the other day and someone speculated that RAB might not be Sirius' brother, Regulus - but rather that it might be Borgin or Burke (I can't remember specifically) from that store in Knockturn Alley that Draco visits in HBP... Anyone think this could be a possibility?

That is an interesting idea, but I don't think it is a possibility. The Black family name, in the foreign translations, changes into a word with the same meaning as Black, but does not have the same spelling, and the RAB initials change accordingly. For example, the Dutch edition uses the initials RAZ and the Black family name is Zwarts.

That said, I don't think we've seen the last of Borgin and/or Burke. With Tom Riddle's history at the shop and his quest for the Hogwarts founder's artifacts, Borgin and Burkes might pop up again in book seven.

JKR has established that most pure-blood wizarding families are related but interestingly, the Black family tree shows Belvina Black marrying Herbert Burke. This information came from a drawing JKR did of the Black Family Tree for a charity auction. This may be a throwaway fact because it was not mentioned in the books. Also, Caractacus Burke is the Burke mentioned as buying the locket from Merope Gaunt so he is probably not RAB.

But the very next line of the prophecy is "Born as the seventh month dies, born to parents who have thrice defied him". We don't know Snape or Aberforth's birthdays, or even if they were alive to defy Voldemort at all, much less three times.

Exactly. That is why I said it would be narrative misdirection.

Has anyone else watched the trailer a whole bunch of times because they're so excited about it?

Maybe it's just me

I can't wait for July to get here...we get the movie AND book 7. What a double whammy. My sister has agreed to be my date for the midnight showing of OOTP and the midnight release of Deathly Hallows. Can't wait for summer to get here!

Exactly. That is why I said it would be narrative misdirection.

The prophecy is worded to suggest that the One will be born, as in hasn't been born yet, which both Snape and Aberforth already are.

And what about the part of the prophecy that states that the Dark Lord will mark him his equal - Voldemort and Aberforth have never even interacted as far as we know.

I think that with a mere 800 pages in which to wrap up the entire series, it would be difficult for JKR to introduce something completely new, which completely contradicts what readers know as canon, without it coming across as contrived and pulled out of a hat.

And even so - as Dumbledore tells us, the prophecy only matters because Voldemort made it matter. Voldemort targeted Harry, which in turn created the desire in Harry to attempt to conquer Voldemort. Regardless of who "really" is the Chosen One, Harry and Voldemort both believe that it is Harry. If Snape ends up delivering the final AK on Voldemort after Harry has found and destroyed all the horcruxes, who gets credit for vanquishing LV? Harry and Snape both performed crucial tasks, one without the other would result in LV still being around.

I do think that Snape has "a power the Dark Lord knows not", which is remorse. And I do think that Snape will assist Harry in some way, even if Harry doesn't know about it or realize it. But I do think that when all is said and done, Harry is the one referenced in the Prophecy, and The Chosen One.

What you said! :wizard: :woohoo:

This weekend I started re-reading Sorcerer's Stone. I figure by July, I will have re-read the first six and be ready for seven. I am amazed by the ability of some of you here to remember so many details. I know I will be mostly lost unless I go back and read the earlier books.

Also, this may be sacrilege here, but anyone else not especially looking forward to the new movie? I will go because the kiddos like them, but I never really think they are that great.

I'm not particularly looking forward to this movie because OOtP was the longest book and I'm sure much of it will be cut in the movie. I realize they can't include everything, but please don't alter the storyline to do so!

That said, I'll probably see it opening weekend!

The books are way more better, but I look forward to the movies. At least in the movies, they pronounce some of the names/words correctly and I realize that's not the way I was pronouncing them!! :rotfl:

I'm not afraid to admit I absolutely butchered some of the words!

ok first, i have no idea how i have missed this thread! and i have not read everything...way too much to try and catch up on, but i'm here now....hope that's ok...i'm slow! haha;)

ok, yeah the movies sort of stink compared to the books. i saw the first two movies then decided to read the books and was soooo impressed by the books. each book i've been able to read in about a day, i just can't seem to put them down.

but i'm excited for the next movie. i do have a vivid imagination, however i like seeing someone else's take on it. i'm going to have to re-read the book though before the movie comes out! they skip way too much in the movies, oh well!

I think I love the movies so much because I adore the actors who play all the different actors, especially the trio. I guess also I am able to separate the books from the movies. I see them as two entirely different things and that makes it a lot easier to enjoy the films because I'm not saying "they left [such and such] out, I can't believe they left that out!" Which is what I used to do, LOL.

I have watched the new trailer 10 times already. I am really looking forward to the "Harry Potter" summer.

I have a question: I the trailer, Dumbledore tells Harry he can't win. I am trying to remember that part of OOTP, but I am drawing a blank. I will try to read the book again before the movie comes out.

Can someone help me out?

Don't go totally by the movies. Gambondore couldn't pronounce Beauxbatons correctly. :sad2: Now I would go by this website though:
http://scholastic.com/harrypotter/books/pronunciation/play.htm ::yes::

If you want to hear how the words should be pronounced just listen to Jim dale in the books on tape/cd! Best narration I have ever heard.
