*~* Muggles, Welcome to the Burrow! *~*

Anyone have a daughter who is a Hermoine fan? I thought this watch was adorable, and the price is right at $8.99, marked down from $30:

This one is even better, $5.99, but more for boys. I think I will get a couple of these for birthday presents:

Nope, no daughter. But I am a Hermione fan and I would love to have that watch :rotfl: It's really cute!

I do not want Snape to die. He is by far the best character in the books, and I wish we could know more of his backstory, though I doubt we'll get *too* much of it.

Believe you me...reading Prisoner of Azkaban, I never thought I would care one little bit about Snape, but he's turned into such an interesting character
...and I want him to be good so bad. I think it might ruin the series for me if he's actually evil. How one dimensional?!?

Yeah, I think Snape is the best character as well...he's got a lot of mystery surrounding him and he's so interesting! To me Harry isn't as interesting because he's not really mysterious to me at all; we always know what he's thinking and why he does what he does.

I also think it would be a bit one dimensional if Snape turns out to be evil. Through Harry's eyes we've seen him act suspiciously throughout the series (even if he is doing the right thing, like saving Harry's life) and no one but Dumbledore really trusts him. They only put up with him because they know that Dumbledore trusts him. So we've seen Snape portrayed by Harry as a nasty character throughout the whole series, and then he turns out to be evil anyway? I agree; it seems too one-dimensional.

So what could potentionally ruin the series for everyone else?

For me it would be: Snape being bad, killing off the twins, Harry killing Voldy in a really, really lame way (if in fact he kills him at all?), things I want to know left hanging...
I would hate it if one of the twins died; I love them! They're so entertaining. I don't want Hagrid to die. It would also be depressing to find out that Dumbledore had been so deceived and ultimately killed by an evil Snape, in whom he had placed his unwavering trust. If the final showdown with Voldemort turns out to be lame or too short that could probably ruin the series for me as well.

Judi ... it says the band size is women's standard.

Yes, I just saw that. I've ordered one and will let you know the exact length once I get it if anyone is interested.

Just read an interesting news article online that I wanted to share entitled -
Harry Potter and the Hint of Death:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/02/03/npotter03.xml

This just in from Darkmark.com -- there is a third theory regarding the hint. Eerily enough, the third theory also has a tie to the HP books (go figure). This third theory is just as interesting and shows possibility (as did the other two, for crying out loud). I bet they'd come up w/theories until their blue in the face over this "hint".

If you're interested in knowing, go to www.darkmark.com and look for the "JKR possible hint" story towards the top.

Thanks for the link! I assume we'll be hearing new theories left and right until the book actually comes out. Speaking of which, I went to Barnes and Noble over the weekend and pre-ordered my copy. The countdown officially begins for me!

I'm not seeing the "JKR possible hint" story or link on that page. Am I missing it?:confused3 I did see the bust story, but nothing further than what was posted before.

I think it's possible that Luna or someone else from Ravenclaw will play an important part in the last book.

I think Luna has been too important so far not to be a big part of the last book. Looney though she might be, JKR keeps pointing out how uncomfortably honest and dead-on her insights are. She experiences a lot of the same things as Harry (thestrals, the voices behind the veil...) and I think this combined with her willingness to believe wacky ideas might help him in the long run. Also, Ravenclaw is the "smart" house. Hermionie was almost in Ravenclaw...she's brilliant... so maybe some Ravenclaw brains will help in the end.

There is also the theory that the Mirror of Erisad might be Ravenclaw's.

The postings on the whereabouts of the other horcruxes had me thinking... Does anyone else think one could be hidden in the Forbidden Forest?

This is a good idea. Hogwarts is very important to V and with his desire to secure objects from the four founders, he could have very well hidden some on Hogwarts grounds. He was comfortable enough to hunt unicorns in the forest in SS, so he could have used it to hide horcruxes.

We've seen him hide horcruxes in other important spots like the home that tied him to Slytherin and also the cave where, as an orphan, he tortured other kids. Hogwarts is another important place for him.

No kidding about the twins!

Something else that would kill the series for me is if in the end, everything is wrapped up nicely with a bow and every one lives happily ever after. To me, that just wouldn't fit with the story so far. HP isn't a fairy tale and I don't think it should have a fairy tale ending.

JKR has never been subtle with her hints before so if this third theory is correct, that is the one Weasley I wouldn't mind dying! Although, there will be new theories until the book is released (and probably well after, too) so take that with a grain of salt...

i always thought that Luna was going to be a type of "love interest" for Harry. i thought they would go along good together, but i don't think that's going to happen! argh!

man if the twins died i would seriously be depressed!!

and hey, fairy tales rarely end well actually. there's lots of times when people die in fairy tales.

i'm sorry, but i find it hilarious that they're making a "Harry Potter Help Line" for people who are depressed that the books are ending.

I thought the same thing. But, I probably won't be laughing come August. I'll be desperately searching for that phone number.:goodvibes

No kidding, right???? ;)

From JKR's official website, posted in the "diary" section:

FEBRUARY 6th

Charles Dickens put it better than I ever could:

'It would concern the reader little, perhaps, to know how sorrowfully the pen is laid down at the close of a two-years' imaginative task; or how an Author feels as if he were dismissing some portion of himself into the shadowy world, when a crowd of the creatures of his brain are going from him for ever.'

To which I can only sigh, try seventeen years, Charles...

I always knew that Harry's story would end with the seventh book, but saying goodbye has been just as hard as I always knew it would be. Even while I'm mourning, though, I feel an incredible sense of achievement. I can hardly believe that I've finally written the ending I've been planning for so many years. I've never felt such a mixture of extreme emotions in my life, never dreamed I could feel simultaneously heartbroken and euphoric.

Some of you have expressed a (much more muted!) mixture of happiness and sadness at the prospect of the last book being published, and that has meant more than I can tell you. If it comes as any consolation, I think that there will be plenty to continue arguing and speculating about, even after 'Deathly Hallows' comes out. So if you're not yet ready to quit the message boards, do not despair...

I'm almost scared to admit this, but one thing has stopped me collapsing in a puddle of misery on the floor. While each of the previous Potter books has strong claims on my affections, 'Deathly Hallows' is my favourite, and that is the most wonderful way to finish the series.

Still be things to speculate about?? I hope she doesn't leave that much to be questioned after book 7 comes out!

Also from the rumors section:

The announcement of the publication date on JKR's website was unusually brief. This means that JKR is unhappy about the date.

This could not be further from the truth! The 21st July publication date has given me enough time to write the book I wanted to write, and for the manuscript to be properly edited. These are the most important things to me. An earlier date - eg, 7/7/07 - would have meant that either the writing or editing was rushed, and neither my publishers nor I wanted that. Any brevity in my announcement was down to the fact that I was busy editing!

I have reserved a copy of Book 7 at B&N and also Borders. They didn't have the sale prices yet, but I'm hoping I can call them a little closer to the release date and then go with the cheaper one.

As far as the writing on the bust, I'm not really reading that much into it. I think we're desperate for any kind of hint about the book and will jump at just about anything at this point. :lmao:

I think you're right about that :rotfl: But it's fun to do anyway because it gives us something to speculate on until the book comes out!
