Imus is on the Today show right now getting into it with Sharpton.
AGAIN??!!?!! Or is this from yesterday?

Exactly! Also, how many other public figures have made offensive comments including some of our most notable congressmen and senators. Imus said it. He apologized. Get over it. I'm not a fan of Imus, but this punishment is over the top.

It is over the top but in the end, I am not sure he can come back from this. The only presidential candidate who seems to believe in redemption is John McCain. Now John McCain is NOT my favorite republican but I do have to admire his sense of loyalty which isn't that common these days. On the other hand I think you can count on no more Chris Dodd appearances, no more Lieberman, Biden, etc, and the usual parade of NBC pundants, etc. I am alwo wondering if anyone with a book to sell will give Imus a chance to promote their book first on his program. That was a rule he had. If you go elsewhere first, you don't get aired on his show. He may be damaged beyond recovery even if "all is forgiven". To often all is not forgiven.
Sounds new. Too funny.![]()
Howard's replaying the Imus interview with Sharpton on Howard 101 right now...with commentary. Good stuff!
The funny thing is watching Al and Jessie call for boycotts of Imus' show. I have not heard them call for a boycott of BET and some of the music channels, which air rap videos featuring large groups of half naked women dry-humping some rapper while he talks about his 'ho's. Snoop Dogg is considered mainstream, but Imus is a pariah? Gimme a break .. This whole issue will be kept alive by individuals craving camera time.We are such a rudy poo candy a society that is afraid of anyone saying anything controversial. Yeah his remarks were wrong, but there is a place for wrong and offensive comments in our society. We shouldn't limit their acceptability to only those who we deem that it is ok to offend. We need to grow some thicker skin and let the insults hurl. Let's have some damn fun in this country instead of looking something to whine about. Political correctness does nothing good for America, we take ourselves way too seriously.

Where's a clapping emote when you need one?
In no way do I agree with what Imus said... but I think he has the right to say it. Until people stop calling themselves names such as these why is it wrong for others to say the same? Not the same context I understand but it still applies.
I think Imus will come out of this alright. Imus's audience understands where he's coming from and has heard this kind of joke before. As I mentioned earlier, it's all part of his act. He'll take the 2 week suspension and probably return to the air with some of the largest rating he's had since he started his career covering the signing of the Declaration of Independence.![]()
If someone called your wife and her club members a bunch of "fat a$$ hoes" I'm sure you would just say "get over it"... huh?

If you don't like what's being said, simply place your hand on the little knob on the right side of your radio and turn.
"Free speech" doesn't protect you from any and all consequences of what you say, it just means you don't get thrown in jail for it.
Imus did something that reflected badly on his employer, and his employer is taking action - the same thing that would happen in any other workplace.

Actually I would![]()
Who says he hasn't got the right to say it? He's not getting arrested is he?
