Most Overrated Food in Disney

Hollywood Brown Derby's grapefruit cake.

I agree! And what was funny was that so did our server. When I tasted it, I was so surprised and unimpressed that I said out loud, "This is it? Everyone loves it, but it's just OK." The server agreed and said "Yes, I don't think it's really THAT great. I mean, it's good but…."

Funnel cakes
Flame Tree BBQ
My first Dole Whip - a definite let down. They're ok, but nothing I can't live without.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who doesn't get the hype about Dole Whips! It's soft-serve ice cream. Big whoop!!! And on many threads, you'd think I was saying I'm un-American and don't believe in Santa or the Easter Bunny if I dare say they're anything less than frozen perfection!!!

Don't get the beignets either. Thought they were going to be incredible. Fried dough with WAAAAYYY to much powder on them. Actually, a pile of powder with a little bit of dough hiding underneath.

Anything at Chef Mickey or Garden Grill. How many ways can you say bland? Not horrible, just totally forgettable.

For me it has to be the Mickey Waffles. I get it, they are a Mickey head; but with that said, they are from a batter that is no different than any other waffle found in any other restaurant located in any other city. :confused3

OMG - thank you for saying this, and thank you to the posters who mentioned Mickey bars. They're built up as legend and then you taste them and it's ... just a waffle ... or just a chocolate covered ice cream bar. Unless I'm planning a kids birthday party (and I'm not belittling that because I LOVE to plan a kid's birthday party!), the shape of a food really doesn't make a difference to me.

I agree about Dole Whip. It's good, but not the stuff dreams are made of.

The grey stuff cupcake was cloyingly sweet and artificial tasting, but then again, everything we had at BOG fell short of expectations.

Zebra Domes are, again, good, but not worth their legendary status. Now, THAT bread pudding at breakfast at Boma .... Holy Moly - that's worth the calories!

kitchen sink sundae - beaches and cream

not bad just over rated based on quality of ice-cream

I was thinking the same thing. DL churro's are worth the calories but WDWs are just okay to kinda terrible in my opinion. :)

Ahh, I was thinking people were crazy for listing churro's, but then I realized I've only eaten them in DL.

Mickey Waffles...I mean they're just a waffle with a face on it. It feels weird to me to eat something that's staring back at me. :faint:

Oh no, you didn't!!!! :furious::furious::furious::furious::furious::furious::furious:

All the food is overrated, its more about theming then food anymore.

While I do enjoy most of the hyped, omg your cant miss it foods. Its all just little over board.

We have an amazing soft serve ice cream place near our house -- they can flavor it almost any way. So while I think dole whips are good, they just aren't anything extraordinary to us.

Also, we made a special stop at starring rolls to try the popular cupcakes and we actually ended up throwing most of them away. We weren't fans.

For me, a lot of the foods mean memories. Like the first time I had Dole Whip as a child. It was hot, and I was thirsty. We saw the Tiki Room, which is a favorite of mine, and then had a Dole Whip. I had never been to Hawaii or Polynesia, and I think the whole experience conjures fantastic images in the mind. I still feel that way when I do the Tiki Room or eat Dole Whip, even though I have actually been to Hawaii now and eaten Dole Whip at the Dole Plantation. I am transported to a beautiful and exotic place that only a child, or Walt Disney, could dream of.

Mickey rice krispy treats remind me of DS seeing MSEP for the first time. I had seen it as a child and took a whole roll of film, maybe two, of pictures. When we returned as parents, seeing the sparkle and amazement in DS's eyes watching the parade, while eating a Mickey rice krispy treat, was one of the best memories of that trip. They still take me back to when I was a child and when he was younger. I also just really like rice krispy treats, especially big ones with chocolate.

No one mentioned the margaritas at La Cava. Those babies are not hyped. They are awesome. I should know. I live in Texas and love margaritas. Those are definite must have.

Those are really my only big things at WDW. I liked the chocolate peppermint cupcake and the white chocolate tamarin cupcake we got in March. The cupcakes are big though and really need to be shared. Plus, I love frosting and moist, dense cake. We had school bread for the first time in March. I thought it was pretty tasty, especially with the cold filling. I would probably get one again, but the pastries at Les Halles are pretty frickin' amazing. I'm talking Parisian bakery quality.

Any cupcake at WDW, any pretzel at WDW, anything from Casey's and lunch at BOG. We have now tried BOG for lunch 4 times and that's it for me. I am done. I'd rather eat almost anywhere else.
So agree. We ate there lAst week. What a disappointment. Give me Columbia Harbor House or the Plaza any day.
