Most magical moment

Best ever DVC-related memory:
We bought into the DVC on our 12/97 stay. My parents were with us and, while I had no problem telling my mother of our purchase, I was very hesitant to tell my investment-conscious father. When I finally did he just said "Well, it's not how I would have spent my money. He didn't say it in a snotty way...more of an I-just-don't-get-it way. Anyway, cut to 10/98 and our family's stay at the BWV. We had a 2BR on the 5th Floor, right over Big River Grill. The view was amazing to say the least. One day my Dad and I were walking down the Boardwalk, just the two of us, and he said to me "This DVC thing...you made the right decision." It certainly is a memory I cherish. :D

Best ever non-DVC-related memory:
On our most recent trip to WDW we spent one evening at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. I had made us all matching, red, holiday-Mickey sweatshirts. At our Liberty Tree Tavern dinner before the party we were all in quite the festive mood. They seated us at a large round table in the middle of one of the rooms and we were constantly referred to as "the centerpiece" (I guess we really did look like one). At one point we even had one of the chefs come out to see us because he heard there was a party going on somewhere. We greeted him with our own rendition of "Steven the Liberty Tree Chef" sung to the Rudolph tune. There was not one "down" moment at that meal...everyone simply had a fabulous time. It was a blast! And the party afterward was equally terrific.

So, those are my memories, but I tend to get new ones on each trip. I'm sure after our next trip I'll have a new favorite.

Michele, I love the CENTERPIECE story!!! how fun!! I think I will do matching t-shirts or something when our family goes in August. The only problem is the tshirts can't say the such-and-such family. It will be my parents, with one last name, my DH and kids and me with another last name, and DH's mother & stepfather, with another last name! any ideas?

Our single most magical memory is our 3yo neice standing behind the castle on an early entry morning (so no one around) yelling

'Cinderella, are you home?'

in the most matter-of-fact tone you could imagine. We half expected her to come out to play.

Of couse, Cindy wasn't home....we had to track her down in ToonTown. :)

Yeah, I'm all over this thread. My kind of stuff (y'know, Pollyanna, rose-colored glasses, etc.) I just cut and pasted my best DVC experience from another thread:

It started when we arrived at the OKW gate Monday about 5 PM. The young lady - had to be "Cat", based on other threads - said, "I could see your smile as soon as you turned the corner! Welcome home!"

I know I had this goofy grin splashed all over my face. "Would you mind saying that again, please?"

She smiled so big that her face split from ear to ear. "Welcome HOME!"

And people, it was like that for the rest of the week. From the absolutely painless check in, to the impeccable 2BR, to our park assaults, we had an absolute blast. While DW, DD, and I were long, long time Disney veterans, DD's 15-year-old friend had never been. When we all got our collective first look at our 2BR (6340), we just gasped. DD's friend Julie said, "this is OURS for the week?"

Well, yeah, it did rain daily, but never more than a couple of hours, and it tended to cool things down a bit. Crowds were significant, but I don't recall more than a 30-minute-wait for anything. I could wax poetic for such things as our first Space Mountain ride of the day ... when we got off the ride (we'd been on the right-hand track), a CM, who must've been a lead, said, "You enjoyed that so much, would you like to try the other track?" And he took us "backstage," to the other side, and rode with us on the other track. The girls were estatic, and it was just one of those wonderful pixie dust events that make Disney so special.

Lord, I hope I never take what we have for granted. My wife, who was just a bit more nonchalant about DVC than I was, said to me one night as we were on our balcony looking over the golf course before turning in, "You know something, pal? You were right."

I just keep thinking about the teenagers' faces when they got to hug Pooh - and, on a more typical note, their faces when they got to hug Aladdin ("He was HOT," said DD.)

I'd like to announce, with trembling pleasure, that the dream is alive.

And, a non-DVC moment, years ago:

We were at the Magic Kingdom, back in the days when running across one of the characters was more random and spontaneous. We ran up on Mickey, and of course he was swamped by autograph hunters and photo-takers. Sitting on the sidelines was a family with an elderly lady in a wheelchair. At some point in the greeting, Mickey spotted her, and crossed to her, knelt down, and gaver her a long, lingering hug. As he stood up, this lady, tears streaming down her cheeks, had this radient, almost transdescent expression of joy on her face. I cried right along with her, and felt then - as now - that I was witness to a very special private moment. I'm moved at the very recollection of that day.

Dreamfinder, you moved me to tears. I feel like I was there with you at your magical moments, because I can truly imagine what it felt like.
Two years ago, we took our babsitter, a teenager who had never been to disney, as well as our 2 kids. Aladdin flirted with our friend outrageously in MGM and we have the greatest pix. She loves piglet and we did a pooh character breakfast--seeing our kids with their favorite characters--DD11 Pooh; DS5 Tigger; and babysitter Piglet--was amazing. Imagine making 3 kids teary-eyed and jumping up and down excited at once, and I won't even tell you about the pictures of bright-eyed me with Tigger! Looking around my "posh", otherwise conservative, office right now, I see pix of our family at wdw and at legoland, pixs of me and DH with minnie on our cruise, pix of me and DS with mickey in a tux on our cruise, a porcelain tigger, a talking boo, etc. All these things make me smile on days when I might otherwise be stressed out. It will be so much fun to share the magic with my and DH's parents this summer! I can 't wait to see my mom get a hug from Mickey!:)

One of our most memorable was during our stay at BWV in Sept. On the way out to the parks I casually asked a CM if we could get a birthday call for our DS's 5th birthday. She said the resort didn't do that but to ask any CM in the parks. DW asked a CM and shee made it look like a call came in for our DS. It was great watching his face as Goofy sang happy birthday to him.

On return to our room we were all amazed with the birthday balloons and a card signed from several characters. I just had to hunt the CM down and thank her. She was quite suprised and pleased we went to the trouble of thanking her. It was perfect all the way around.

Our most magical moment will happen in about a week. We bought into DVC so that our grandchildren could experience the magic. Their first trip is next week!:Pinkbounc

Back to the original topic of MOST magical moment:

Two years ago when my friends and I took our kids parasailing behind the Contemporary. We enjoyed a gorgeous morning on the boat and they had a blast!

Our most recent trip this past October was a magical moment in itself because it was our children's first trip to WDW (3 yr. old daughter and 15 month old son).

But more specifically:

Seeing our daughter and some other kids doing a little dance on Main St. during the parade.

The look on our daughter's face when she saw the castle was priceless. We had to practically lift her chin up off of Main Street! Also, when climbing the stairs to Cinderella's Royal Table for the oh-so-hard-to-get breakfast, our daughter said "This is amazing!"

Seeing our son get so excited when he saw Bear in the MGM parade.

We're looking forward to many more trips over the next 40 years to create even more magical moments.

The first time we walked into our room at OKW the first time we stayed there after buying the DVC. We had friends of ours with us, and Liz turned to me and said "This was a very good idea."

In the MK a few years ago, there was a parade where the characters would get off the floats and go into the audience and dance and interact. Well, we were standing on Main Street, in front of the Emporium. Across the street, sort of in front of the bakery I think, was a little girl in a wheelchair. When the princess float went by, Cinderellla got off that float, went right up to that child and dnaced with her for the whole time that the float was stopped there. The look on that child's face was one I'll never forget.I am getting all teary-eyed now, just remembering it.

I remember for our 5th anniversary, my DH getting us the IllumiNations cruise...wonderful!!!!!

I remember one time when we had an annual pass that was expiring the day before we were supoosed to leave. We have friends who live in Florida, and they were coming over to WDW to see us while we were there. DH went to the Guest Services window in Epcot to see if there was a way that we could pay to extend the AP for one more day, as we didn't want the other couple to make the trip to WDW to have us tell them we couldn't do a park because we had no ticket (even thought the next day was check-out day, we were leaving in the evening, so we still had an almost full day at WDW). Anyhow, that CM looked up something on the computer, and gave us 2 one park/one day passes!!!! FREE!!!!
