My DH and I were talking about our honeymoon that we took at WDW back in 1998. We were thinking about all the stuff we had bought and what we loved the most and had the most memories. We love things that really strike up a memory and keep for years and years (unlike t-shirts and other things that can be out grown!). We have beautiful Disney plates in our diing area, snow globes and DIsney prints. We were just wondering what kind of special things you guys like to buy on a DCL. We have a 4 year old son who is looking forward to our cruise and we need some ideas for him too. We are also comming up with a souveniers budget and need some ideas for that too. Thank you! :wave2:

our DCL antena topper. we get to look at it everyday. it reminds us of the fun we had and the fun yet to come in november

Some of our favorites include...

1 - I take TONS of pictures and look at my albums quite often. I relive each and every photo I look at!

2 - We bought a menu collage at the Wonder's auction Jan 2003 and it is proudly displayed in our dining room.

3 - Captain Henry signed a model of the ship for us on our honeymoon. That proudly sits on our fireplace.

4 - I love each and every ornament we've purchased during our DCL and WDW trips. They are our favorites to display on our tree.

I have to agree with pictures and memories!!!

I agree on the special memories to last a lifetime, but my other favs would have to be all the family portraits we had done, our Magic photo album and frame, the videos we took, a Wish Pearl Minnie necklace our kids bought me, my morning coffee mug and our Xmas ornaments.

For the grands: their most favorite treasure is their autograped pillowcases, followed by their Mickey & Minnie plushes, Tshirts and our DGD's love their princess gowns & accessories.

Our favorites are the 2 Disney cruise posters(Wonder and Magic) we have framed and hanging. What makes them great is that they are signed by the Captain of each ship , two years apart but on the exact same date Oct. 11.
Our next cruise is this year Oct. 9 so we hope we can carry on the tradition and have another poster signed on the 11th.

I would have to go with the pictures. I cringed at the big $$ the pictures were, but looking back, it was really the BEST money spent. I loved seeing the candids pics taken by the photographers.

And, I did take a TON of my own, but I do like the others taken by the photographer.

I only collect pins that are special to me, I don't have a big collection. The DCL pins are on a ribbon that I wear on the ship like a necklace and the other Disney pins are on another ribbon that I wear at the parks.

My favorite DCL souvenirs are my Cruise mug that got me soda-pop all week and is used daily for coffee at home and a pin DH bought me that I did not even see for sale on the ship. I also have no idea when he bought it as we were always together. He got it home without me seeing it and gave it to me for Christmas. I wear that almost every day of the week on one side of my shirt collar and on the other side of the collar I wear a Mickey logo with stars and stripes in honor of the victims of 9-11.

My Most loved souvenire is my ds wh has now been on 2 cruises himself. I think the pictures do the bes to conjure up the memories and good feeling from the trip. We also bought a painted plate in Cozumel that has our names and the cruise date andthe pictre of the ship(Well very close to it anway) that hangs over our fireplace with our cherished famiy photos.
My dds are 9 and 8 and I think going to Disney often keeps them young. They still love the characters and cherish everything from their trip but mostly I think they cherished the pictures they took with their own(disosable cameras).
On or second cruise we had the Tsirt from the 1st cruise signed by the characters. That is there favorite object from the cruise.

The xmas ornaments. We get one every time we go to a park, and now we have 2 from the cruise. Every xmas those are the first on the tree....

My son's most cherished Disney Cruise souveniers:

The pillowcase -- signed by characters and Captain Tom and Henry

His club t-shirt when he was in the show -- signed by all the counselors

His pin lanyard -- so many memories of collecting pins -- it hangs on his bedroom door knob

tons of pctiures -- he looks at the Disney photo album all the time

Hope that helps

I bought a DCL frame onboard and put one of the photogs pictures in it. Every time i walk by it I smile.

We have a framed map showing where Disney cruises on our sitting room wall. We bought it on our first cruise. Just have to take it down one of these days and draw the little icon for Costa Maya. We like to look at it and see how far we have traveled.

DD likes the pins. When we got back from this trip, I took all of her pins and put them on a bulletin board I decorated. It now hangs in her room - at her eye level. She knows not to take them out, but loves playing with them and telling stories.

She also love her pictures with the characters and her cruise ship/characters beanie babies.

Be sure and go to one of the pin trader meets in the lobby of the ship. There will be limited edition pins that will not be in the shop or Castaway Cay. We got a limited edition of the door of the WED suite that opens to reveal Mickey, cost $12.50, we'll never get this close to opening the real door in the suite! Also a limited edition "upscale" DCL logo, $8.50. We also buy an ornament in every port, then record the date on the back, $5-20. Depending on which ports you visit, there are things to purchase that are "rare". St Thomas and St Maarten have wonderful "Caribbean" Topaz, a lovely pink-amber, white with rainbow colors and dark multi-color, from about $50, set in silver, to much more if set in gold and decorated with diamonds. Larimar, a pale turquoise stone, mined only in the Dominican Republic, usually set in silver, from $20, is rarely available outside of the Caribbean. We also bought each of our sons unset stones, available on the ship, to keep until they meet that special someone to have made into a ring, from $10. Mexico has wonderful silver work and crafts. Gold and silver work are usually priced by the weight. If you stop in WDW before or after, have a silhouette cut on Main Street, a real bargain, and your family's profiles will be preserved forever. Wish they would have an artist doing this on the ship.

I was watching my disney cruise video over the weekend and saw a mother wrapping a little boy in a Disney Cruise Line Towel. Has anyone ever seen a disney towel for sale onboard? How much do they cost? That would be a great souvenier!

The towels for sale on the ship were around $20. They are very nice!!
Return cruisers get a Castaway Club towel as a gift.

The best souviners for me were the pictures and the beach towels. I love to look at the pictures and have made them into an album with all of the stories written out so that no one ever forgets them!

The other favourite was the beach towels. We have four different cruise designs. We have a pool in the back yard and these towels are used all the time! We all want the cruise towels. Unlike t-shirts that the kids grow out of the towels will fit them for years. Happy memories all the time!
