Most loved DCL souveniers..............

My favorites include our collectible pins, the beach towels we purchased, and my all time favorite, is my Christopher Radko Christmas Ornament of the Ship signed by Captain Henry. I keep it out year round and it always reminds me of what a great time we had. Of course, we have pictures everywhere as well.

I am so glad that I posted this question yesterday!!! I am having such fun reading them! I just bought an idea book from my local scrapbook store with Disney ideas. Can't wait to scrapbook the cruise pictures! I like the ideas of the pins! It sounds like they don't cost very much too! You guys have given me some great ideas! The most difficult thing is to budget and not go over it! I will have a difficult time with that one! I just love Disney stuff! I also like the idea of buying Christmas ornaments! I forgot that we did that too the last time we were at WDW for our honeymoon in 1998! I should have remembered that due to the fact that I just put them away last month!

Thank you everyone for the great ideas! Keep them comming!::MickeyMo

>>I like the ideas of the pins! It sounds like they don't cost very much too! <<

The pins start at 6.50 up to 12.50- I am also a pin person and while they seem expensive I love the fact they are very "event specific" to me ( I buy ones to represent certain memories- ie I got the Studios one the day I found out I was working Studios etc) and they are very easy to store/frame etc and dont take up much room (which is good being spacially constrained here)

It is a little disconcerning when I spend 300+ on souvies and all they almost all fit in a little tiny bag...

I also love taking pictures and already know ill have a whole book for my WDW/Crusie vacation... -em

I think I like the idea of the pins. They would pack up easily since we are going to WDW after the DCL! When people talk about pin trading what exactly is that? Do you bring your own pins with you to trade (i.e.- state pins or pins of your state or just Disney pins)? Do they have pins at WDW too?

>>When people talk about pin trading what exactly is that?<<
Pin trading is trading of disney pins with either other guests (that want to trade) or with Cast Members wearing lanyards- Its done on a pin for pin basis with a few exceptions which are a)they have to have disney imprinted on the back (no fakes or other pins) b) set pins that are meant to be togeather (ie the pins that spell out 2003 etc with each pin a number) c) most CMs cant trade a pin they already have on their lanyard d)personalized pins cant be traded (ie ones with names imprinted)

>>Do you bring your own pins with you to trade (i.e.- state pins or pins of your state or just Disney pins)?<<

They have to be official disney pins- There are places like ebay or mouseshoppe.com that sell packs of "traders" or if you have a character warehouse near you they often have cheaper disney pins. But any disney pin you buy at disney is tradeable except for the ones listed above under certain times...

>>Do they have pins at WDW too?<<
Yup!(DL, Tokyo, Paris too!) All 4 WDW parks have multiple locations to buy pins as well as all the disney resorts and downtown disney has a huge pin store.

If you want to see some that may be available check out pinpics.com or dizpins.com

Warning! Its addicting!!!

>>Does the Disney Store have pins????<<

My favorite souvenir is not something that I bought. We had gone snorkeling on CC with our own gear. I packed the gear up in a hurry without really cleaning anything off very well. When we got home, I found a ton of sand in our swim fins. I saved the sand in a little baggie. Kind of silly, I know, but it always brings a smile to my face whenever I come across it!

My favorite souvenirs are:

1. Christopher Radco ship ornament signed by Captain Henry

2. Die cast models of the Wonder and Magic

3. Scrapbooks of pictures, roomkey, menus, tradingcards and other memorabilia associated with our cruises.

4. magnets and playing cards I collect from everywhere I go.

since our honeymoon 18 years ago...we started a tradition of buying a wall hanging (or item we can frame when we return) on special vacations.

Our favorite DCL purchase hangs over our bed...as one just like it did on our Magic/Wonder vacations. On our second DCL cruise, we won (ok - overbid) a framed Castaway Cay litho during the ships silent auction.

Needless to say...many Disney memories adorn our walls.

Ok... I know that I am just a kid trapped in an adult body but I regret that I did not purchase the big Mickey gloves, like the ones the staff uses to wave goodbye at Castaway Cay. As a teacher I could find lots of fun ways to use those! I also wish I would have found the Mickey captains hat in adult sizes. At my school we celebrate Mickey's birthday and that hat would have been a hit!

Counting the days till our Oct. 9th Western!:bounce:

A couple days ago I found a glass salt shaker that looks like a canning jar-mug. I bought two, left the cardboard in the lid, put the Castaway Cay sand in one and some sand I got at San Diego in the other. I labeled the jars with a permanent Sharpie Marker as to origin and date and have them on the Kitchen window sill. They make me smile.

We have a framed map showing where Disney cruises on our sitting room wall. We bought it on our first cruise. Just have to take it down one of these days and draw the little icon for Costa Maya. We like to look at it and see how far we have traveled.
Costa Mesa? Where is that and what ship goes there?

It's definitely the Christopher Radko Cruise Ship Ornament, which was signed by the captain.

We always pick up an ornament when we travel - and our Christmas tree is a wonderful set of memories of the places we have visited.

Just wondering, how much do the models of the ships cost? I would like to get one and have the captain sign it. Thanks!!!

JLSE50, On the March 29, 2003 Western cruise we visited Costa Maya in Mexico instead of Grand Cayman. The seas were too rough to tender into Grand Cayman. Costa Maya was wonderful. We liked it better than Cozumel. Costa Maya is just north of the country Belize.

wdwmom2,
I think the die cast ship models were $20.00, I am cruising again this Thursday so I will check.

We have an autographed photo of our (then) infant son, Henry with Captain Henry on our 3 day last March. Our Henry was the youngest passenger aboard and the Captain was very kind to not only take a photo with him, but also sign a nice note to the baby, as well.:p

I agree, too, with all the other posters who said Memories are their most prized possesion. We have so many wonderful ones from our time spent on board through the years!
