Most Embarrassing Cruise Moment....

This past March, DH, DS, and I took a cruise on the Wonder - it was wonderful.

Since DS was only in diapers, he was only allowed in the ear of the Mickey pool, so one afternoon I was sitting in the pool with him. It was only me and him. He started making a fuss, so DH took him out and I sat in the sun for a few extra minutes. Next thing I know, the ear starts emptying. I looked at the crew member who came over to me and said, "Someone must have urinated in the pool. This pool has a sensor and drains whenever it detects urine or feces" Then she looked at me funny considering I was the only one sitting in the pool.....   DS must have leaked out of his swim diaper before DH got him out of the pool. I was SO embarrassed.

On my recent 5/20/06 cruise, we had dinner 1st night in Lumiere's. The server for another table dropped a platter next to me, and the food splashed all over my white pants. UGH. Head server gave me a ticket to get the pants cleaned, so no problem.

Next night, the long-awaited dinner at AP. I sat down and ordered a drink, waiting for the show to begin. The waiters were rushing around like crazy, and one of them banged into my table, causing one strawberry daiquiri, one beer, a diet coke, and several waters to spill directly onto me. I had red strawberry daiquiri slush from head to toe. I'm telling you...it was all over my shirt, all over my pants (had soaked through to my undies), and it had actually gone into my shoes. I was completely embarassed! Plus, I missed the show because I ran back to my cabin to soak my clothes :guilty:

The last night of our cruise, we got paged from the club saying our ds 5 had a tummy ache. So, my husband went to check on him and he said he was ok. We just figured he was tired from the day on Castaway Cay, out in the sun, etc. So, we went ahead and went to dinner. We did the late seating dinner so we could feed the kids early up on deck by the pool and then drop them in the clubs. They didnt really have the attention spans for the sit down dinner. So, we sit down for dinner and no sooner than the appetizers came out, we got paged again. So, DH goes to get DS from the club. Keep in mind, we are in Triton. So, my son comes in and joins us at dinner. The servers ask him if he wants something and he says he wants macaroni and cheese and a strawberry milkshake. So, Im like, he cant feel THAT bad. Next thing I know, he looks at me with THAT look on his face and says, "Mama..." and the vomit begins. I grabbed his head and pushed him down, so my lovely dress was the receiving canopy of explosive vomit. The kids behind us were saying Ewwww gross that kid is puking! He comes up for air and then heads back down to do it again. Our servers come over and assure us its no problem. So, we excuse ourselves. I go to change and my husband went to get the baby from Flounders. But, bless them, our servers brought the rest of our dinner to our room. They were so sweet. And the next morning, they catered to my son. But, having to sit there and be puked on in Triton and then get up dripping and leave this beautiful dining area. Whew...that was rough!

Kim & stiej,

Sorry to hear that your dinnners weren't what you were hoping for. I guess you will have to rebook another cruise. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Glad to hear the rest of your cruises were enjoyable.

Patrice, FUNNY story :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We had been on the Eco hike on St, Johns island with our daughter and 2 grandkids. It was a good hike but the trees were dripping wet from an earlier rain shower. Everyone was very careful not to bump the branches.
Well my DH decided to pull down on one of them and soak our grandaughter. Which he did and of course she squealed andl aughed, but from behind her a mans voice also hollered!! OOps!! DH appologised and the man was very gracious about it,. Later back on the ship we saw this same man signing autogrpahs and posing for pictures. We found out he was Lyn Swan, a former football player and sports commentater!! He was on board giving some seminars. My DH was pretty embarassed!!!

Oh my! That's too funny - but definitely embarrassing! But how nice to know that there is a sensor that will let the water drain out in times of "emergency." Too bad the other pools don't do that!!! Although then they might be empty more times than not.

On At. Maarten last Nov (7 night Eastern), our DS (age 5 1/2) and DD were swimming in the ocean there....lots of turbulant waves and was almost too rough for thier safety but DH and I were right there.

After lots of laughs and giggles with them running and swimming around in the sirf, DS all of the sudden comes up from a wave WITH NO SWIM SHORTS ON! :scared1: The look on his face was that of utter horror! :guilty:

There was a beach full of people staring at him, along with his crazy mom, dad, and sister laughing at him!

It was really very traumatic for him and he still won't let us talk about it to this day!
..........the story gets worse.........it was at the end of the day and we had spent almost all of our cash.......we couldn't even go buy him some shorts if we wanted to! I simply wrapped a towel around him and tried to make him feel better (after laughing my head off! :rotfl2: )....and tried to talk even myself into the fact that we could see the Magic.....and we just needed to ride the boat across and get back on the ship....no problem....we could do it. :confused3

The poor kid......he was mortified! :guilty:

DH spent at least 30 minutes back in the rough surf searching for him lost swim shorts! We had given up and I was actually by then starting to get a little skweemish about the trek back to the ship with a naked almost 6 yo who was by now almost in hysterics! :rolleyes1

Some very nice people next to us happened to see DS's shorts washed up on the beach a ways down shore and called us over to tell us! :woohoo: THEY WERE LIFESAVERS!

Now that was one happy kid putting that swim suit back on! :teeth: He was all smiles! :) :) :)

Seriously......if we even try to refer to that situation to a grandparent, friend, or even amongst ourselves......he starts crying and leaves the room! :rolleyes1 He'll never forget his most embarassing DCL moment!

DIS NURSE - that story is too funny!

That reminds me of the time we spent a week in St. Maarten. Our youngest DD was 5 at the time and she was happily playing in the surf with the "little" waves were nicely coming in the out!

Well, one of those little waves had a little more pull to it and out went DD - doing backwards somersaults into the sea! The next wave brought her back in, but boy was she mad! She had lost the sunglasses that she was wearing and she had sand everywhere!

The amazing part is - later on in the day, we actually found her sunglasses on the bottom of the sea!

I thought embarrasing things only ever happened to me !

 I really feel for you guys !

Oh, I have one!

Let me preface this by saying that my oldest DD was on antibiotics for an ear infection and had been eating a LOT of fruit during this vacation. So, we're in the Mickey pool and she comes over to me on the edge. Apparently, she thought that she had "passed gas", but guess what, it was more than that. Yes, we cleared the Mickey pool!! I felt SO bad for my DD, because she had been potty trained for almost 2 years and she was in complete hysterics. (She gets SO upset over the smallest things, so this was a doozy.)

Luckily, all was well once we got her back to the room and cleaned up. But of course, they were still cleaning the Mickey pool. To this day, when we've been back on the Wonder, she says, I promise I won't p@@p in the pool, Mommy!!!

So, one lesson, fruit, antibiotics and the Mickey pool, don't mix!!!

Me - 14 weeks prego with DS; DD - 3 1/2 years old with a predisposition against DCL photographers. We had just left the ship at CC and a photog wanted to snap a picture. DD decided she didn't want to particpate and took off running - directly towards the front of the ship, the water, and the edge of the pier that plunged directly into the water. I took off after her, yelling her name, screaming to stop. I hit some non-skid indoor/outdoor carpet right as I was about to catch up to her, desperately trying to stop her before she headed straight into the water, right where the ship was docked. My feet went straight up, backend hit the ground first, and I skidded right into DD, who rocketed forward into a metal railing, smacking her cheek and eye into it. She collapsed into me, crying, I was seeing stars while on my back, and DH was mortified, as about 400 people looked on. At least the baby was fine, DD didn't get smushed by the ship, and we had plenty of witnesses to protect us - later that night when DD checked into Oceaneer's Club and was asked about the huge bruise on her face and her response was "mommy did it"!! :guilty:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Ohhhh, I am sorry that I am laughing at everyone's expense, but these stories are great!!!! I am definitely subscribing to this thread!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Thanks for the laughs everyone!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I think the CM may have been having some fun with you. According to a friend in the pool business there is no such sensor on the market. More likely they perioodically 'flush' the system due to the nature of small children using the pool.

This may be the modern update to the urban legend of the chemical that forms the red ring that forms around you if you pee in the pool.

Another macaroni & cheese puking story...

During our last Eastern 7 night Magic cruise, we were tormented by extremely rough seas the first few days. People were getting sick all over the place. My 2 year old son had been acting and feeling fine until he wolfed down a plate of mac 'n cheese at dinner. My husband was carrying my son around the Atrium after dinner when my son began puking all over the floor and my husband. The worst thing was, that was when we realized that my son hadn't chewed up any of the macaroni! My husband was standing in a crowd in the Atrium covered in whole macaroni.

Funny you mentioned the "red ring" legend.....I remember this when I was a kid.....Sure kept me from doing anything in the pool!!!" ;)

We had a similar experience as well. We had just finished with our Pirate Night pics and headed to our late seating at AP. Luckily this was our second night and we didn't miss the show. On the way, DS (8) says his tummy hurts. I think he is just hungry after asking several questions. We sit down, order, and no sooner as our waiter brings our drinks, DS, who is sitting across from me, projectile vomits and it keeps coming! It goes everywhere and unfortunately, we had table mates! We didn't know what to do :rotfl: but I spotted the bucket with the rolls, dumped them onto a clean plate and thrust it under DS but by this time, it was too late! :p Luckily our table mates were both nurses and it wasn't so upsetting to them but we felt so bad!! Of course we high-tailed it out of there after some apologies, bucket in tow - just in case! :p :p :p

(DS was seasick and after some medicine was better in just a matter of hours. )

...Okay, after re-telling this story I think *I'm going to be sick! I can handle a lot of things but I don't do vomit! :sad2:
