More than 1 reservation ?

We are going in August. We are not completely sure of which resorts we want - narrowed between 1 full time and the other a split between valu and moderate. Can I, and should I, make 2 reservations when the discounts come out, and then decide and cancel the 1 we dont want? We were thinking about 1 being a AP rate and the other a package, but not sure which we want. Has anyone done this? Does disney get confused if you use the same name on multiple reservations? Any advice is welcome - just waiting for discount codes and confused !!!!!!!

We had multiple reservations for our last trip, then cancelled the ones we didn't want. They did end up screwing up our ressies, BUT it was a good thing...to compensate for their errors we got a great deal on our moderate (we had planned to stay value). I don't know that we would do that again though...we'll see.

I don't know if it's the recommended thing to do either, I'm interested in the replies you get.

Disney looks at a lot of things when they are deciding to issue discounts. By holding two reservations you are helping to make it appear that the resorts have more rooms sold then they actually do.

I would think that sends the message that they don't need to offer as many discounts.
