more questions on dp

Hi all,

We are looking at May 2014, either Sheraton vistian resort or por. Is it true we wouldnt be able to have the dp if we stay at the svr?
Also my dd will be 10 and she is a very fussy eater, if we did go for the dp do we all have to have it, or could my dh and I have it and pay for her as we go. (i think I mean OOP, but not sure what this stands for!)

It seems a lot of money to pay upfront, but I guess we would still pay the same if we didnt have it.

Is alcohol included at ts. I do like a glass of wine with my dinner

I think you're confused. You NEVER have to purchase the dining plan while staying at a Disney resort. In your case, you'd be better without out. Just pay OOP and you'll end up saving a lot of $$.

Agree with a PP that OOP (out of pocket) will probably be the better option if you have a picky 10 year old.

But, to answer your questions so you can decide...

Yes, everyone on the reservation has to have the same package. Your daughter will have to have a dining plan, and she'll be charged as an adult which is why OOP would be better for you.

No, you can not get the DDP if you stay off property. You have to stay at a Disney owned and operated resort with a package to add the DP.

No, alcohol is not included on the DP. You can still order it, you'll just have to pay OOP for that portion of the meal.

Take a look at the menus at allears.net once you have a grasp of where you'd like to eat during your trip. Compare the cost of the DDP each night versus paying OOP with what you'd actually order to give yourself a good price comparison.

the Disney Dining Plan is available only to guests at Disney-operated resorts. So no, you cannot get it if you stay at the Sheraton.

If you're at a Disney resort and you want the dining plan, you must buy it for everyone registered in your room who is 3 years old or older. So you would be required to purchase a dining plan for your daughter. As she is 10 years old, you would be purchasing an adult plan. You can pay out of pocket for her meals and use the credits to purchase extra meals for the other adults if you wish.

Alcohol is included at the dinner shows (Hoop de Doo, Spirit of Aloha and Mickey's Backyard Barbecue), the price of which includes unlimited Bud Light, house wine or possibly other beverages (Sangria at Hoop de Doo). Otherwise, alcohol is never included in the dining plan.
