(more) Magic Band questions

Is there a sticky on these yet? Trying to plan and getting confused, so your expert help is appreciated!

* Can I plan magic bands (specifically fast passes) on husbands MDE account (he is NOT coming this trip0) or do I need to set up my own account? Since he has no planned reservations, I think I may not be able to do on his account.

* I am nervous to link APs on the bands....what happens if band gets lost or pass info gets lost into cyberspace? Not sure I want to devote park time to solving these problems of they occur during the trip.


* If I don't link APs, will fast passes be on bands or AP rfid cards, or both?

* Any tips to maximize use of these bands?

You will link APs to your account. The bands read from your account. You're not putting the APs onto the band, so you don't need to worry about that.

You have to have admission linked to the account in order to plan FP+s.

Not sure about the issue of whose account to use. No one but me in my family has an account, only a profile I created for them on my account, so it hasn't been an issue I've needed to pay attention to.

1- Set up your own MDE account.

2- Just to keep things as clear as possible-

There is no reservation info, or ticket info, or credit card info,
or FP+ info "put onto" a MagicBand.

The MagicBands just contain a unique serial number that is used
to access the information that is stored in your MyDisneyExperience computer file.

So, even if you were to lose a MagicBand, the info stays locked in your file.
Disney can just set up a new band (different serial number)
to access the info in your MDE file.

The MagicBand works like the combination to a locked safe, or a key to a locked door.

Why does this distinction matter?
Because there is so much fear about losing bands and,
in turn, losing all of a guest's information thought to be on the band.

The MB, itself, is not the file of info or the container of the info.
The MB just unlocks the file of info to be read, when needed.

3- If you don't link your tickets (AP's in this case,) you won't be able to make advance FP+ reservations.
After you link the tickets, you can access the park gates and FP+ with either the MB or the tickets, interchangeably.
