More info re early Dec. DVC ressies!

Yesterday, I read of someone who called to book a 2 BR for early December and had to waitlist. Well, this morning I called for a studio-I have 12/8 thru 12/12, calling to add 2 days 12/6 and 12/7. She checked all 4 WDW DVC resorts, and only BCV and OKW had availability. Good thing BCV is one of our homes! Both BWV and VWL are already full. However, I have a theory I hope is true. Hopefully, there are some DVCers who's homes are at one of those, so they booked them. Then, at 7 months, they'll call to switch, leaving some availability at the now full BWV and VWL. At least I hope-at 7 months I'm hoping to switch to a standard studio at BWV for those 2 nites. Realistic? Or is the idea "dream on"!

I think what you proposed is realistic. There probably are people who know they want to go in Dec but may want to try and switch at 7 months.

Just get yourself on the waitlist as soon as you can if need be.

I have heard that in most cases, even for early December, the waitlist does come thru.

We may be giving up 12/5 and 12/6 at BWV in a 2 bedroom standard view. My cousins haven't decided yet if they want to visit VB for that weekend. If so, and assuming VB has availability for that Friday and Saturday, we'll be staying at VB instead of BWV. So yes, there are some of us who have standard views that are considering a 7 month switch.

However, I think that the chances of getting a BWV standard view studio via the waitlist are slim. There are probably BWV owners ahead of you on the waitlist. I see that one of the nights is a Saturday night though, so there is a better chance of that coming through than the Sunday.

Your chances of gettting your dates are higher if you asked to be waitlisted for the individual days and not the two days together.

Hi Guys
I have a question...We booked a preferred view 1 Bdrm at BWV from Nov. 25 - Dec. 7 but what we really want is a standard view 2 Bdrm. (We waitlisted for the whole time period) What do you think our chances are and would they be any better if we listed for individual days? I am one of those hoping that at the 7 month window things will start opening up but I just don't know how likely it is that 13 nights will open up together?!

Hula girl©©©©Last year we vacationed over Thanksgiving Day and thru the following week© We reserved a standard view 2 bedroom at the 11 month mark ¥day by day¤ for the last part of the trip but since going over Thanksgiving Day was an afterthought we had to book preferred view for the first 2 nights, go on the waitlist and hope for the best© Since we went on the waitlist 10 months and 25 days out, I thought for sure those nights would come thru©
Ten months later one of the nights opened up but the other one ¥the first night of our stay¤ never did© We ended up having to switch from the preferred view 2 br over to the std© view which was *not* fun© We had to repack our stuff ¥including food from the fridge¤, store it with bell services, check out and then check back in© Theoretically if our 'new' room was ready we could have just moved right in, but Thanksgiving week is busy and so nothing goes quite as smoothly as one would hope© In hindsight I would have cancelled that first night and just subtracted a day from our vacation - it would have been easier©

To add insult to injury - since the switch from preferred view to std© view for that second night was within the 30 day cancellation period the point difference ¥8 whole points¤ went into a holding account and therefore couldn't be banked© We certainly aren't going to go back to WDW to use a measly 8 points and so we're going to end up losing them© Bummer©

The waitlist is worth a shot but I wouldn't bank on std© view for those dates coming thru© Still, you never know© Good luck :¤

Hi! As of yesterday morning (4/17), there were studios available at OKW and BCV, but none at VWL or BWV. So for anyone planning to book at 7 months for VWL or BWV, plan to waitlist.

I've been on a waitlist for a studio at VWL for Dec 5-8th for a couple weeks now. No word yet. Guess I needed to know we were taking this trip just a little bit sooner!
