I posted earlier asking for prayers for an uncle.

He was in a car accident tuesday.

Passed out behind the wheel.

Hit a firetruck!

(He's a retired cop/firefighter)

He was bringing the dog back from the groomers and the dog suffered massively and had to be put down.

He's just banged up, but being observed. They think he's taking something/depression that was not prescribed.

He lost his mother this year and is having estate issues with his troubled brother and SIL (greedy fools) and just can't handle the stress of that. He has an addictive personality and you could just see this coming.

My poor aunt. Like she needs this right now.

As long as he gets the help he needs, he should be ok.

On the disney ADR front, I got a pm from some wonderful diser who is just now canceling her Dec ADR's, they bumped their trip up to Nov and has 2 tables at 1900 for me!!!!:yay: Just waiting to hear back from her when she changes it over.

That means I lose my Tony's ressie. We have seats for 635, spectro and wishes start at 7 and 8. I thought what if we get some really good seats.

It happened for my sister when I made her ressie's last year.

My DH is out shopping with some High School friends, bless his soul. I hate going out shopping as it is, and I refuse to be out there during major chaos. I have enough of that in my life.

Mal's dress rehearsal is today. Look for pictures later!

Nutcracker Nouveau!

Our turkey day was low key. Just us and my mom.

We spent a good hour playing Apples to Apples for the first time and what a fun family game. We laughed the whole time. Grandma even played.

BBN: Of course I won, dah!.:rolleyes1
Hugs for your Uncle. With him the hospital, maybe they will get him the help he needs. How is your Back?

Nabbie, dont those teachers know this is vacation? I mean really, they can survive adulthood with one less week of classes. NO PEEJ!

But doing the flat Maple thing could be a lot of fun!

So now DD said she wants to make the entire holiday dinner. I have to clean, she will cook. Something is wrong with that picture (i.e. cleaning) Where is my maid when I need her???????

Oh right, I don't have one!

Anyone want low a fat/no fat meal for Xmas?
That would be my DD's style of cooking.... There goes my GBC with heavy cream and real cheese! Maybe I could bring that as a potluck dish to my own house?

IF I can get in the kitchen.

But she bakes a lot......

Nab, Maybe you need to make a twin of Maple. I like her name. I have a pin I got when I was a child and we went to Canada. The pin is like a fall maple leaf.

Marita -- I know you think they would be doing Christmas stuff while away. Actually they are practicing for the concert because it is two after we get back. And Report cards come home this week too.

I love to bake but hate to cook.

Lynette -- other then the calzones and roasted peppers, you lost me on the rest of the stuff. Guess I am a picker eater too.:lmao:

NAB, do you mean you don't like the other stuff I mentioned, or that you've never tried it? :confused3 BTW, you're lucky that your kids' teachers will give you Nicholas' and Hannah's schoolwork in advance. My kids' schools absolutely will NOT give work in advance, and don't even make exceptions for work that the kids make up....those assignments are all marked late.

Mony, prayers for your uncle.

Quick, somebody distract me with witty banter! Otherwise, I'll succumb to the siren's song of the pies and fudge that are calling from the kitchen!!! Ack!

soppressata

Lynt, I have no clue what that is.

Mony, sorry about your uncle

Anyway, now with DD wanting to do the big dinner, all bets are off. She is out right now. I guess I'll stand by and wait to see what she is planning and just plan to jump in in case of emergency. She is 24, so old enough to take it on. I just hope she deigns to share her plans with me.

DS hijacked my car and is out as well. (OK,I gave him the keys, geez). Did you know they get kicked out of the service for a DUI? Not that DS drinks (rarely), but still, kind of like a nice insurance policy.

I have dishes waiting to be done in the kitchen, oh Joy! Such fun for a Friday night!

Signed: The scullery maid

Lynette -- Is prosciutto a thing meat? Never had it or Asiago cheese and Soppressala . Don't like olives , had artichokes before but don't buy them either.

This is why I never made reservations at Pablo's on the boat. They have goat cheese and other things I have no idea what they are or taste like. :lmao:

Marita-- At least you didn't have to cook tonight or didn't have any of her sauce?

/
Lynt, come here and cook, that will keep you from the pies. I'll throw in some tickets. If I have any...

Nabbie, I did have some spaghetti with meatballs. Pretty good actually. Naturally it was wheat spaghetti (the brown kind), sigh) DD is into healthy cooking.
I'm the "fat is flavor" kind of cook.
I have to go put the leftovers away and empty the dishwasher and do another load of dishes. UGHHHHHHHH!!!

My thought for tonight:

SPORTS POST ALERTBlah blah blah blah bla, our Ladies are playing the Dookies. Blah blah blah blah lbah .END ALERT

:lmao: DTD- you crack me up! I missed you. Glad you survived Turkey week. Did I mention my oldest now wants to go to culinary school?

Anyone ever dine for dinner at Tusker House?

Any opinions?
not since it was a restaurant, as a CS it ROCKED but I do agree that AK needed a sit down option besides the chain restaurant I can eat at in Kansas City:rolleyes:

Boy the price you have to pay to take your kids out school for the week.
Well, my girls don't have too much. Just to keep trip journals and make up a spelling test after we get back.

The 9th grader has lots of stuff but the ball is in his court. Which means he isn't being as proactive as I would like. However all the teachers said if he had to miss a week then this was a good one as it was review week. I am worried about his grades however. I guess this will be our last time to take him out of school for the next 3 yrs. :guilty: OF course with the economy shot, I doubt we are going anywhere in the next 3 yrs anway. @@ Also I hope to keep working for the next few years so I will be on a college schedule.
My kids' schools absolutely will NOT give work in advance, and don't even make exceptions for work that the kids make up....those assignments are all marked late.

Oh that does stink. I really see both sides of the story as a part time edumahcater. However they are in elementary school for googness sake. :rolleyes1

NAB and Marita....soppressata is a dry-cured Italian salami which is often served in small chunks with crusty Italian bread. Prosciutto is a spendy cured Italian ham which is sliced tissue-paper thin. It's included in dishes like chicken saltimbocca and veal bona boca. I know a certain 7 y.o. girl who prefers to have it on her pizza.

Twink, I see both sides of the school thing too. No teacher should have to do extra work so that someone else's kids can go on vacation. But, like you said..it's freakin elementary school!

Lynt, I actually just had some proscuitto on a hot crusty Chicago roll with some butter Kase (butter cheese). Actually, procuiotto is very similar (if not the same) to Westphalian ham, which is where I am from. Best enjoyed with dark bread though, hearty, crusty bread, (not to be found anywhere around here) and good butter.

The other salami thing though I have never heard of, I will keep an eye out for it.

Please forgive any spelling errors, not in the mood to check!

Goog evening! :) Sounds like lots of shopping, relaxing, eating, and cleaning went on today. I couldn't talk my hubby into seeing a movie tonight but we did a little bit of shopping because we figured the crowds had probably died down. Hubby started researching TVs and making not of prices :scared: We also went out for some dinner once we found a restaurant that wasn't packed.

Marita - Hire Molly Maids or someplace like that to come in to clean!!! I usually only have enough energy to declutter.

Mony - Sending prayers for your uncle

DTD - Glad you made it through all that cooking!

Nabbie and Twink - Hope your kids are able to get all their schoolwork done. Mari actually got quite a bit ahead in her classes one year we took her out of school for Disney. I know it's harder to do when they're older.

Lynette - Thanks for clarifying! I don't think I've ever had soppressata or chunks of asiago cheese before. I'll have to see if they have soppressata so I can try it the next time I go to Zingerman's in Ann Arbor. I've never made an antipasto tray before, but we have an Italian restaurant that makes a yummy antipasto salad.

:wave2: Hi, CelMama, BH, Lil G, Pumba, Wendy, MommyP, bbn, Lex, Rob, and our MIA/away friends, Cel, Peej, Steph, Allie, Sandy, and WT!

Moo, I filled out a questionaire twice (TWO TIMES) for Merry Maids, to get a quote. And that was a long questionaire. Took me like 30 minutes to fill out.
One dog, 1 cat, 2 grown kids. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths. Give me an estimate.
How hard can that be?

Both times I got back, "we cant give you an estimate, we have to send 2 people to inspect your house"

OK fine, the heck with Merry Maids! I need to find a nice neighborhood lady. Yeah, fat chance with me parking my butt on the couch all day, I don't meet any neighborhood ladies

Try a different place, Marita! Or maybe entice your DD to clean with $$?

:)

Yeah, that would go over like a lead balloon!

DD: Can you empty the dishwasher?
Me: I'm WORKING!
DD: you are sitting on the couch with the computer!
Me: YES I"M WORKING!!!
To her it means im not doing anything. Unfortunately, we dont have the best relationship. She is totally daddy's girl.

So offering her money to do housework would just mean to her that I'm sitting on my butt not doing anything. Not that a cleaning lady would make her happy either, I lose either way. Oh well! It would make me happy.

Years ago (many years ago, like 20?), my niece in law came once a week, it was fabulous! I even forgot what I paid her way back then, but well worth it. I have been dreaming about getting another cleaning lady for years, but obviously that hasn't gone anywhere.

So, if anyone wants to know what to get me for Christmas, read this post and forward it as appropriate.

Maybe I'll look at Craigs list?

Sorry, this has been a repetitive gripe on my part several times the last few years. I'll get over it.

Sorry that money's not a motivator for your daughter, Marita.

That didn't even work this fall when my daughter was broke! Usually when Mari's visiting, she's got her own agenda.

Yes, I think keeping up the parents' household is just not high on the priority list, Moo. As long as the have have a safe place to stay and food to eat, the rest is irrelevant, even for money. There are bigger fish to fry!

So I tried to email her. No such luck. what is my technical email? Pop3? and then what? Of course no phone number! I am forever cursed to clean my own house or live in relative state of mess! How hard can it be to go from yahoo mail to hotmail? But it went through techniclal hoops via Windows mail !!? And didnt go anywhere.....

I had a lovely inquiry for a quote all typed up, it's hung up in cyberspace. It asked me for my server. POP3? I have no clue, and other technical stuff I had no clue about. Anyway, it didnt go anywhere...

WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good bye, Clara, I never knew you!

===============================================================

Well, DUH!!! There is a tiny bit of gray matter left in my brain after all.

Go to yahoo mail, and copy in the address and avoid the whole windows email debacle.

Inquiry for a quote is sent!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hubby and DD and DS could claim this as a Christmas AND Birthday gift! If it works out.

Of course now I have to broach the subject to DH! But I think he will be OK with it. And if not, nothing is lost, but Clara! WHAAAAAA!!!

now, too bad I don't live there yet. been cleaning my friday house since Jeremy was in kindergarten (He's almost 27). I think they're used to me by now!:lmao: they went and turned into SNOWBIRDS! they rent a condo in Naples for 2 months every winter! sucks for me! I lose the money and THEY get to be where I WANT to be!!! (actually, after all these years, she is one of my best buddies!, I'm like family..) don't you think they should bring me with every year?:rotfl:

Hey y'all. 'Sup?

We had a nice holiday too. There is definitely lots to be thankful for.

I skimmed the Black Friday ads, but found nothing of interest so I slept in until 8:30 yesterday. woot!

My plan was to take the kids to see "Bolt" yesterday, but my brother and sil called to see if dd would babysit yesterday evening. We met my mom for lunch and then Red wanted to go to her house, so that left the two older ds's and me. The 13 yo asked if we could see the new James Bond movie instead. Somehow the dh is suddenly interested in meeting us for the movie.:rotfl: Actually, he was going to go anyway, but I know he was much happier with James Bond than Bolt.

So much for "my plan" It was a good movie, if y'all like that genre.

Dont work too hard on homework and finding maids and all that jazz this weekend.

Hope your uncle is doing ok Monica.
