They still teach handwriting is school? Do they have to make it look pretty with swirly letters?

Twink, are you making one of those book sized syllabi? Syllabuses? See, this is what I'm talking about...the English language is stupid!!!! I hated when professors gave a 20 page syllabus. What I hated even more was when they emailed it to us and made us print it ourselves.
.

I agree that English is wacky but syllabus is a LATIN word so hence the plural is syllabii which is fun to say and type :thumbsup2

I am required to make a 20 page syllabus. The "reminder list" of what to include from my boss was 12 pages single spaced. I am tempted to make one like this

Course Expectations: TBD
Attendence Policy: TBD
Grading Rubric: TBD
Weather Policy: TBD
Make Up Policy: TBD

and so on and so forth.

I will however print it out for my students. I could have had the PROFESSIONALs at the campus copy center do it for me had I turned it in yesterday. However I haven't finished determining all that stuff TBD.

I would not like to grade papers.

Nicholas got his science project back and she docked marks because his animals were not drawn with more detail. I thought he did a great job. They were all free hand. Then he made a little penguin that I thought was cute and she wrote colour more neatly...what the heck.

We don't do swirly letters. Just regular old writing! I also have Social Studies writing assignments up for grabs as well as money worksheets.

How bout instead of holding hands and singing kumbafrigginya we hold hands and say syllabi 50 times?
What is your attendance policy going to be? I always liked the professors who let you miss like 2 times. Or maybe 3. The ones who don't let you miss at all...well, we had special names for them. :rolleyes1

I've never understood grading children on how well they color. What the heck indeed. Yes, when they're little they're developing their fine motor skills so it's important that they color, but to grade them on how well they do it? Idk, that just seems a little "off."

I cooked way too much rice for the chicken livers. So what do I do with it?
I was thinking of making some cream of mushroom soup and putting the rice in it, kindof like of risotto, and take it to lunch. Any ideas?

DD stoppled by a litltle while ago to pick up her laundry from the dryer and get free food. I told her we were having chicken livers stroganoff. But there wasnt much left. So she requested it again for Friday. Im making two pounds next time. And the same amount of rice. :sad2:

I fast fowarded close to the end of the song. She has it attached to her arm.

Teachers sure have a lot of homework....who do they complain to the parents.:lmao:

Have you seen that guy, Shane Mercado, on youtube doing that Beyonce dance? He was on the Bonnie Hunt show over the holidays. They call him He-yonce

Marita -- are you sure she moved out....

Where is Moo tonight? Hope she isn't frozen somewhere with this weather we are having.

Yep, my post was caught in the middle of the page turning!

Nab - I think Beyonce has that thing on her arm during the whole dance.

I have another public meeting tomorrow night, so I probably won't be around til late.

Our weather man tells us it will be -4 F or -21C tomorrow morning. That doesn't factor in the windchill.

I am going to hate walking the kids to school tomorrow. Speaking of which I better get my butt in bed so I can get up.

Goodnight all.

Monica, speaking of college, what's your major? Forgive me, but I've completely forgotten. Color me PJ.

What color would you like to be today?

My major is Special Education.

Why would you be tired? You don't do anything all day but watch kids and go to school and clean up stuff. :confused3

I know, duh!

We don't do swirly letters. Just regular old writing!

Excactly! Teachers told us while my boys were younger to give them lots of opportunities to play with play dough, do lacing cards, lite brite, and legos to help them develope the pincher muscles. I don't think coloring alone is enough.

I don't feel kids in general play like this much anymore. TV, video games, Tv, video games is the fun of choice.

Now I played with these toys when I was young, but then again, I didn't have video games and TV you waited for Saturday to watch.

Morning Moovers. Brrrrrrrrr it's very very very cold here in monymonyville. It's a big fat ZERO out there. DH is driving each one to his school.

Tonight -20.

Stay Warm

Morny Mony....(and everyone else!!)

Thats my funny for the day..feeble huh...

It is cold here too...down to 15 tonight, high of 23 tomorrow and 11 tomorrow night....brr cold here in the Tar Heel state..had to argue with ds about hat wearing this AM.

DD is warmer in Alaska then we are here

Really bad day at work yesterday( note to self, remind self why I went back to work ????) and today isn't looking much brighter (self...memo...because you want to go to Alaska silly)

Mony, I like smilies, and din't know some had subliminal messages...or that some had alter-egos...

So when is a smilie not a smilie? Am I missing something?

Pooh likies the vibrating ones....so hugs to ya today!!:goodvibes :goodvibes

Good Morning!

We watched part of Mirrors last night. I wouldn't recommend it. Ick. I'm not able to stomach some of these gory too detailed movies in my old age. It is a good scary movie though with some good mystery. I guess we'll finish it tonight.

Except we have to have a stupid family meeting with my parents. Apparently it all started with a New Years Eve party that I was supposed to have been invited to at a friends house. My oldest sister(who I can't stand) was supposed to call and tell me about it. I guess when I wasn't at the party my little sisters wonder what was up. They both got the distinct impression that my older sister was lying to them about calling me. Turns out she did call(the day before NYE) but stupid Sprint Voicemail didn't get the message to me. I remember her calling now, she called from her cell, which I didn't know and so I didn't answer. I stood and waited to see if I had a message and did not. However a few days later I did get the message. Anyhoo, I didn't care. I just don't care anymore. But I guess the whole situation got out of hand without my knowledge and my little sisters said something to my Mom about it all. So she wrote a family letter which is blah blah blah. Chad and I don't want to have anything to do with my older sister and her family. They are snobs, they aren't going to change and if she weren't my sister it would be NO BIG DEAL to not hang out with them. But my Mom thinks that everyone has to be BFF. So annoying.

So anyway, that's what I have to look forward to all day. Ick.

Gotta go and get the boys motivated for school.

BBN: I am really quite fond of you. As everyone else here. I don't know how the mix up came about. Well I have an IDEA, in the midst of my little spat with BDG, he brought up you in his post which made it SEEM like I had an issue with you. He really is a good trickster.

Are you kidding me? You really don't know how to leave good enough alone, do you? I was letting you off the hook. Now you state that BDG was the one who made it SEEM like you had an issue with BBN? And that BDG is a good trickster? I did nothing of the sort. You have YET to explain what you really did mean when you accused BBN of complaining about people ignoring her posts. I did not twist your words or trick you into posting them. You did that alone. It is all on the record.

Listen Mony, I am going to leave you alone. If you don't want to explain yourself, fine. No one here likes to see continual negative posts between other posters. (Well, most of the posters here, I think some get a certain perverse pleasure from it) However, you have to stop the name calling and suggesting that I am responsible for your words about BBN.

Wow. I felt this was a light hearted post. I don't know why all of my posts seem so negative to you.

I took BBN's post simply as this: sarcasm. Maybe she wasn't feeling the love that day. Maybe I missed a post or two. But I never meant any negativity toward her. Nor did I felt I needed to explain myself. Cause when I read everyone else's stuff I take it as fun.

But I guess I was wrong.

Do what you want. I didn't know I was being mean to you. I didn't think that post was negative cause I never meant it to be negative.

People seem to have a lot of fun over here, but maybe I'm not supposed to be part of that. Obviously I rub you wrong. And as my PM stated, you won't have to worry about that anymore.

And I mean it.

Bye.

OH my gosh!!!

i watched nip/tuck AND american idol. both of them. i'm all caught up nab.

it was my lucky night. two smartalecky guys in one setting. (christian and simon in case you had to ask)

twink, you need to watch nip/tuck!!!

the kids had a two hour delay, i thought i was never gonna get the lil stinkers out the door this morning. for some reason they move SLOWER when they have two extra hours to get ready.:confused3

and i need to go to the wal marts, but baby it's cold outside.:santa:

maybe i'll go the gym too. it is soooo crowded in january. all those new years resolutioners and stuff. by mid february, it's back to the regulars. i always try to pick out which people are gonna stick with and which ones are not.

it's a little game i play as i'm pounding the treadmill.

Mony - Just put him on double permanent ignore until he is over his male PMS.

Geesh.

1. I will but not tonight. Maybe tomorrow. Today I have to teach- which I am nervous about- just stage fright.
2. I must say I have noticed this trend in many aspects. Kind of like work expands to fill your available time.
3. It is freeeezing. I went to the walmarts yesterdee afternoon as I felt the temperature dropping. I am glad I get to stay home today and continue working on my 48 page syllabus which is due in just hours.

Hi Bethipooh! I am a former North Carolina gal. :yay:

MommyP- Sorry about the family drama. I am glad you are not feeling so sickish this time. No appointment yet?

Mony & Peej- I agree. I never grade my students on their coloring abilities. ;) My mom was told (and this was a hundred years ago) that girls have better fine motor skills in the early elementary years because they have more practice because Barbie is such a pain in the astarstar to dress. I haven't gone so far as to make my sons play Barbie but here at Casa De La Twinkie all the kids are lego fiends.

Goldenchild (age 3.5) said this morning "I too big for Diego. Diego is for babies. I want iCarly". ACK!!!! Thank goodness iCarly isn't on in the mornings AND I was able to convince him that Imagination Movers was a grown up show.
