Hey Lynette, I have a particular two year old I would like to try out the duct tape on. :rolleyes1 After Ms. Allie told him to remain in time out, and helped get his behind back in the chair (cause I'm a goog helper that way ;) ), that his teacher had set him in, he proceeded to SPIT at me. Now, I quickly proceeded to move him from his time out chair so that he could go visit our "principal", my boss. The kids think she is our principal. Well, I guess in all practical purposes she is, since you go see her when your in BIG trouble! Well, spitting on a helper gets you in BIG trouble. Remember that for future reference.

Ok, you folks up north have got to be freezing 'cause we are going down to 9 degrees tonight. I know that sound like a heat wave to Pumba, NAB, and Lynette, but us warm blooded Southerners - THAT'S FREAKIN' COLD!!!!!

Oh, and the neighbor ladies and I decided that we have reached our weather threshold when it comes to walking after the bus comes. 9 Degree weather CANCELS neighborhood walking. ::yes:: Shadow is going to be disappointed in the morning, but she'll thank me after we come in from the bus stop. She doesn't have much fur to insulate her from the cold weather. :sad2:

Oh and DS told me that they are going to do an OUTSIDE experiment tomorrow. I had to purchase a two liter soda after DD's piano lesson tonight for said experiment. He is in Chemistry this semester. They are going to drop mentos (the candy) into said soda bottles and see which one shoots up the most. That should make for a lovely frozen mess outside the high school tomorrow. :scared: Once you drop the Mentos into the soda, it shoots straight up out of the bottle, like a volcano. They are going to compare sodas to see if one makes it shoot higher than the other.

I really feel for all you frozen people, it sounds brutal. It was 60 here today and I almost froze my patooty off. Nabbie, yours sounds especially bad.

Did ya'll see the story about the downed plane in the Hudson? Truly amazing!!!

Nab, Now Canada does not only get blamed for sending cold air south, now the CANADIAN Snow Geese are blamed for downing the plane.

Twinkie, I know you'll do great. 8 pages of syllabus?????? EEK!

Most of my exciting (NOT!) day consisted of trying to put together my first Executive Billing, where execs get billed for the cost of a convention event instead of paying retail. Chasing things down that were missing, trying to format things from other systems to look decent in Excel, etc. and it was a simple 2 pick-up thing. Fun stuff!
The boss used to do this, but decided to dump it on me. Oh JOY!

The next one is a Barmitzvah, great, a lot more complicated. :scared:

I bet they are the same kind that broke my windshield too! :scared1: Man those geese have trouble with judging their flight paths. :sad2:

On a serious note, they are very lucky! You know what, when you fly out of here to LaGuardia, you can go through Charlotte. I wonder if there were any locals on that flight? :confused3 I'll have to watch the news.

LOL, Allie.
I remember the Great Goose Caper. Scary stuff!

I can't imagine how those poor people felt landing in a freezing Hutson River. But they say everyone survived, WHEW! The pilots deserve a medal or something.

Yeah I just read that there was an infant on board, but that he or she was fine. I am sure that water was COLD!!

I was just wondering, what happens to everyone's luggage? Do they get it back all wet?

Can you imagine? You just went on vacation to NYC, and took all kinds of pics and videos, and your cameras get ruined by the water. Now, I'm sure they don't mind ultimately because they are safe, but wouldn't that be a bummer? :sad1:

Those geese are trouble some everywhere. They make a huge mess on the ground and noisy too. But you can not get rid of them they are protected.

I would freak out if I landed on in the water. I can not swim. I would be afraid to get out of the plane on to the wing for fear of falling in the water too. That is why I am so good with the kids swimming lessons. I want them to learn since I never did. I know your never to old to learn but I am worse then the kids for getting my head under the water.....

Marita-- I know that must be cold for you. I feel for you too. Cold is cold. This has been a weird winter so far.

I never thought about that, but yes, that would be a bummer for sure.

I just read this on Yahoo:

An official speaking on condition of anonymity because the investigation was still ongoing identified the pilot as Chelsey B. Sullenberger III. A woman answered and hung up when the AP asked to speak with Sullenberger's family in Danville, Calif.
Sullenberger, 58, described himself in an online professional profile as a 29-year employee of US Airways. He started his own consulting business, Safety Reliability Methods Inc., two years ago.

I bet this will give him a lot of credibility for his Safety business!

And this:

The Federal Aviation Administration says there were about 65,000 bird strikes to civil aircraft in the United States from 1990 to 2005, or about one for every 10,000 flights.
"They literally just choke out the engine and it quits," said Joe Mazzone, a retired Delta Air Lines pilot. He said air traffic control towers routinely alert pilots if there are birds in the area. The Hudson crash took place almost exactly 27 years after an Air Florida plane bound for Tampa crashed into the Potomac River just after takeoff from Washington National Airport, killing 78 people. Five people on that flight survived.

I rember that event. There was ice in the river.

Geesh, Peej and MommyP weren't even born yet, and most of the other posters here were still kids. I'm OLD!

Allie, he SPIT on you? Oh. My. Stars! I hope that the child's mother was confronted when she came to pick him up! Doesn't it make you wonder what sort of behavior goes on at home??? My IRL BFF is a preschool teacher, and she sometimes tells me stories that make me blush (and that's NOT easy to do!) I vote for double duct tape on that boy! Harumph!

It IS horrendously cold here. At present, it is a whole 2 degrees! :scared1: Gads, I can't wait for Spring!

Marita, I'd like to feel bad for you, suffering through temps in the 60s, but...I got nothing. I'd lop off an appendage for 60 degree temps right about now! Love ya, though!

Is that the one that ran off the end of the runway and all the people were floating in the Potomac?

That was due to birds too? I thought it was due to ice. :confused3 Maybe I'm thinking about another one, or maybe it was just the anniversary? :headache: DUH!

Can't say that I blame you, Lynt. Thanks! Love ya too! I'd send you a few degrees, but we are losing some more tomorrow.

They cancelled Kitchen Nightmares to show Bush! WTH??? I can read that in the paper tomorrow or read it online. Why do they choose to show this on all channels? :confused3

OK, I better go eat something and empty the dishewasher and reload (the few dishes) so as to retain my new status as an empty nester with a neat and clean home.

WHY OH WHY did I volunteer to cook dinner tomorrow????????

Actually the "spittage" didn't get on me, I guess he really spat AT me. What's sad is that they go to my church. Makes it kind of awkward, but my director told his teacher to write in the note that he spat on me, so that mom knew why he didn't get a treat today. He had already lost his treat by the time he spit on/at me that it didn't really matter anyway.

Oh, and I was next in line to take him to his car for our car line this afternoon. I said that I couldn't take him because I was afraid I would say something not so nice. ;) Needless to say one of my coworkers got to take him to his car. :rolleyes1

let me just say that I am glad he doesn't come tomorrow. ;)

sometimes we take a US AIR flight and land in LaGuardia or in the other NY one....I hate to fly and if this had happened to us I probably would of been a new friend of Grey Hound Busses....I am always terrified. One time coming back and we were going into Philly.....we went over the water part and hubby could see the runway coming up.....he was on the outside window seat and all of a sudden our plane went up straight in the air....seems to have been another plane on the runway....this was about ten years ago when they were doing construction on the runways......scared me to death...everyone screamed on that uplifting turn. When we landed in Maine our son said heard you had a near scare.......geesh.......

We went out to supper this evening and then to the grocery store to pick up FOOD......it is so cold out there....it was minus 2 at six. we are in for snow on Sunday so that will be our warm up day.....which is worse.....have no clue..
school recesses are cancelled here when the temp gets below 15 degrees. When I was a volunteer at one of the local schools....if the kids couldnt go out then we would do simon says in the classroom......I always made sure that the simon says was jumping jacks and double jumpers and things to get the kids unwinding.......

I saw that about the plane crash right at dismissal. They asked us all to turn our tv's on. We don't usually get any channels, they're just there so we can watch "educational" videos (aka Disney sing alongs). ;) They were just verifying that all the tv's are now up and running because we'll all be watching the inauguration. Anyhow, when I turned it on, the crash was on. We watched for a few minutes. I'm glad everyone made it out alright. How scary would that be????

RE: recess. Yes, we take turns running around in the gym, but the gym teacher only has one 45 minute free period so it gets CROWDED. We often skip that option because my nerves can't take that noise level.

RE: obnoxious kids. I sent one to the principal today as well. He told me he hated me and that my class was a load of crap. Maybe I should have spit at him. He's 7. I did him the great service of walking him down to the principal myself. His mom and I had a little chat after school and his weekend is not going to be too pretty.

RE: It's freezing cold. I just think about how much I hate the heat, and that makes it all okay. Like when I think about how hot I was this summer in Orlando, then I don't mind this weather one bit.

Well DD LOST! She's now in the bed wailing! She crossed daddy one too many times. It's not pretty. :sad2: It reminds me of when she was two. She's very tired and I'm sure it is from all the late nights she had during the break. Plus I realized mid week that she had been drinking caffeinated sodas! I usually don't have them around, but had some left over from NYE. And she was wondering why she was having trouble sleeping. :sad2:

she's now wailing that she has to blow her nose. Oh, and now it's that she has to pee. If she knows what is good for her, she better just hush, but I know she won't. :sad2:

Thanks Peej!

All is quiet, and I think she still has her laptop, but I haven't had the nerve to go upstairs and look. :scared:

and we didn't get a chance to study for her spelling test for tomorrow. Guess I'll have to get her up early for that. Luckily, it should be pretty easy since she is already asleep. :cloud9:

He did let her get up to pee, but then she said she needed to ask me something about her homework. See that's why you can't let her up. (that's when the threat of losing her new laptop came into play ;) ) Well, she wasn't allowed down here, and she'll have to fix up her homework in the morning. At least it is FRIDAY, and we have a long weekend. :cloud9:

Hope everyone has a peaceful evening. :goodvibes

WOW, it got quiet here.

Allie, good that DD settled down. lmhungry.... but I dont know what to eat. I thought about a can of asparagus with butter but not a single can here. I proposed a lunch date for tomorrow with work folks at Panera (Broccoli cheese soup with fresh french bread. YUM)
Will have to see if that happens. Great lunch for under $5.

I was chatting with my BFF who complained about the house being cold at 60 degrees.

SO, SURVEY:

what temp do you keep your place at?

I'll start: 75 (but then I live in Florida), we keep it there year-round though.

Next!

Just got done watching E.R. and thought I would check here before I went to bed.

Marita-- we keep our usually at 68 in the winter but it is been at 70 these last really cold days.

Now I must go snuggle in my blankets where I won't want to get out in the morning. One good thing is hubby has been there for the last hour so it will be some what warm and I will just hug him and steal his heat..... he does this to me all the time.:lmao:

GOOD MORNING!

It's -2 here at the moment. School is canceled due to cold. I guess they don't want any popsicle kids at the bus stops.

I got Emily on the bus for Disney last night. They are supposed to arrive this morning around 8 or 9. It's only gonna be in the 50's there today but it beats -2 by a long shot.

I watched Mamma Mia! with my BFF last night. It's a really good/funny/touching movie. I liked it a lot.

Love, hugs, and hellos to everyone. :flower3:

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
