Twinkie, that looks loverly!!!!!

I got nothing tonight. No homework stories, no kid stories, no work stories, no weather stories, no sewing stories, Nutting, honey! Boring day!

Well, I was busy at work, but nothing that makes for good reading.

I'm sorry for all people having weather issues! No power is no fun, but I imagine flooding has to be the worst.

Just took a power nap. Mondays always do me in for some reason.

I have a quasy online date with BFF tonight to try and figure out flight options to Germany. Wish me Luck!

Of course DS hasnt called today to report if he made it ok on his 9 hour drive to Colorado. On the plus side, I havent gotten a call that he perished, either.

Hey everyone! Back to the grind of the workweek. Blech.

At least we are having great weather. It was in the low 80s here today, bright, sunny and breezy. :goodvibes Sorry to hear about those who are not faring so well weather-wise.

Pumba, I am so very, very sorry about Brielle. I will continue to keep her and her family in my prayers.

1. I need a dayplanner just to keep up with first grade.

2. Here is a true confession: ever since I learned to read, I don't like being read out loud to.... and I really don't like listening to early readers read aloud. When I volunteer at school (two babies ago), I volunteer to teach/tutor math- NOT listen to more painful early readers. I do love to read out loud to my kids.

3. Where is the BBN? I just finished pancakes with Nutella on them. :yay: It is like cake for breakfast. :dance3:

1. Don't laugh! I actually do use a DayRunner, in which I keep everything from kids' appointments and schedules to a running tally of my monthly household expenses and my myriad lists. I know that I could do the same with a PDA, but I am a gal who likes to write things down. I find it truly helps to commit things to memory if I have actually had to write the details someplace. I have been using my DayRunner for 15ish years...what a lifesaver! Additionally, at the end of the calendar year, I have a sort of journal of that year's activities and milestones.

2. OH! Being read to is a MAJOR pet peeve of mine. Early readers, proficient readers....doesn't matter....I HATE it! I would rather eat a Brillo sandwich! Which is unfortunate, since my DH has the hideous habit of reading aloud excerpts from the newspaper or whatever material he has in front of him. Grrrrr! :headache:

3. After a texting frenzy with Peej during the early part of today, I can tell you that as of lunchtime o'clock, the BBN had no power due to storms in and around Crazynurse Ranch.

Yay Twinkie for making a decision! What was the description for that? It's so very bright. ;) And here you wouldn't wear my yellow flowers. :snooty:

EEEEEEK for BBN! That;s a scary thought, seeing that she lives in Nowhereland, and is probably last on the list!

Here is wishing for a generator in her near future :wizard:

Twinkie -- that is beautiful. So glad you are getting a green coat now too. I was going to say something when you posted the black one for the adults. This one is so much brighter to match your personality.

I was wondering were Babynurse was. She wasn't in the arcade kicking my butt. Hope she gets power soon.

He heh. Is "bright" code for butt dog ugly? :rotfl: It is a solid. NOT a pattern. I have an (un?) reasonable fear of looking like a couch. I don't wear patterns. Especially florals.

It is Da Vinci Gold
When we beheld the brilliance and inventiveness of this bold silk, we just had to name it after the most influential artist in western civilization.

I love this website. It is like a good J. Peterman magazine. :happytv:

1. So do I. Except the budget stuff. That is in an excel spreadsheet. As of right now it is the only babybook that Gabe may ever have.
2. I knew I liked you!:thumbsup2 Yay for Peej and Sandy and all the other professional Brillo sandwhich eaters. I appreciate you.
3. No power?! poor BBN. I hope it is resolved soonishly.

Twinkie, that looks loverly!!!!!

.

Thanks Marita!!! That was the response I was looking for ;) :goodvibes

I have an (un?) reasonable fear of looking like a couch. I don't wear patterns. Especially florals.

Heh....I suffer from the same affliction. Florals, paisley, and --gasp!--polka dots are all verboten in my book. No need to walk around looking like a wallpaper sample, right? :scared:

Speaking of stuff to wear, I bought myself a dress this morning. Black, cap-sleeve, knee-length. I'm intending to wear it with my high-wedge-heel, knee-high black boots. DH and I are invited to a wedding later this month. The couple are already officially married, but are holding their "dessert reception" at an art gallery. The invitation offered nothing but ambiguity with regard to expected attire. Hopefully, the dress-with-boots combo will have the appropriate air of funk and chic. I'll probably arrive to find people in sequins. Oy. :sad2:

Goog Morning!

It's my early rise day. I HATE getting up this early. My children get up before the sun everyday. If I'm still sleeping they all play quietly in their rooms(except for Kaleb who almost always is in our bed and if I'm there sleeping he stays sleeping.). If I'm up it's like an invitation to get out of their rooms before 7:30 which has been a no no for many years in our family.

Why can't I have normal children who sleep? Everyone I know has sleeping children. Why are mine up before the sun?

So the older boys have check-ups today. I think they'll have to get the chicken pox booster at this visit. I'm bringing everyone and demanding a persricption for their ringworm.

I'm off to pump. I need to get some milk stored up for tomorrow. Isaac is staying with my sister(the one with little John) for the day because I'm going to help a friend move.

Also, I found out that DD had already filled in the Dr. about Trixie's condition while he was at school eating lunch with his DD earlier in the week.
I love the lunch consult. :lmao:

my DH has the hideous habit of reading aloud excerpts from the newspaper or whatever material he has in front of him. Grrrrr! :headache:

How about having a constant one sided dialogue to listen to? My mother can't just sit quietly and read to herself. She has to talk to you, even if you are ignoring her.
The last thing she just said was "I guess we'll just walk around and find a restaurant."

Oh. I guess I should fill you all in.
I am in Peej Town!
Cincinatti!
Only the storm was bad here and my clinic is without power. So I'm attempting to work from the hotel room.
(Yes, checking in with my dis friends is "working" :rolleyes1 )
We're going to go eat, but she won't let me finish reading before I google restaurants.

Anyway, me and Riley (the dog, not windy's son) and CelMama are living the high life in a swanky hotel.

pumba - Brielle's family is in my prayers. Nice mini trip report! Love the fornicating bugs! :rotfl:

Twinkie and Mommyp - Y'all are so cute with all your sling talk!

Windy - How was your 34th birthday? Sounds like you had a great time! If you're done with Johnny, can I have him? Pwease?

Hey to everyone else!

after much debate I found the perfect color hidden under the GOLD category:cool1:

I got enough for the reversible black-n-green!
Here it is

Fabulous!!! I have a couch that color! ;) :cool2: :sad2:

Actually, I really like certain greens and wouldn't mind doing a wall that color.

I LOVE looking like a walking wallpaper sample! (NOT!)
I'm lately sort of liking just plain t's in white, black, brown, or pink.

A yuppy dessert reception at an art gallery, eh? This screams denim skirt with tan pantyhose and opentoe'd sandals with somekind of sweater vest and a french braid.
OR a little black dress with sheer, nude pantyhose and peek-a-boo toed black 3" pumps and some classic and simple diamond stud earrings and pendant and upswept hair. It could go either way where I live.

The boot idea is the best though! :thumbsup2 I think you should take pictures of the sequined gals though!

They still have ringworm? Poor things!
My kids have been waking earlier and making their beds and getting ready for school wayyyy earlier than usual for some reason. :confused3

Yard "Sell" at my house this Saturday. All must go! Simplifying :yay:

AND supposedly, a family is coming through our house tonight. So it's ***** and span clean! Which is soooo nice. ANY clutter makes me anxious.

I am officially the last grown up to own an iPod! I loaded up all my music and even used my $25 gift card I bought myself to add some more at iTunes. LOOOVE it! It's a million times better than having to use the MP3 feature of my stupid LG pink chocolate phone...that I bought soley (souly?) because it's cute! :sad2:

Glad to see everyone was so very concerned about the safety and well-being of the trollops.   Sunday was crazy. Extremely high winds, power out everywhere. I literally thought I was going to blow away when I walked outside. I've never seen anything like it. Internet is finally back, power just came back here in civilization. Those who live away from civilization (*cough* mamacantfindya *cough*) still have no power. They're saying 10 to 12 days until power is back to everyone in this area.

Didn't have school yesterday or today. The superintendent of my school district is saying possibly no school the rest of the week. None of the schools have power and too many roads are still impassable due to fallen trees. Most traffic lights are also still out, which makes driving interesting.

Grocery stores are a mess, all picked over and 20 minute lines just to check out. A lot of places are also running out of water because the purification plants have no power. They're starting to shut water off in some areas, including mamacantfindya. I was one of the lucky ones, since I only lost power for 1 day. Most will be without power a lot longer than that. So, I'm doing what I can and providing hot food and showers to anyone who happens to straggle into my apartment. Even if they are related to the babynurse. ACK!

That's all I've got for now. I'm going to try to find gas, which is not an easy thing to do around here. Check back with y'all later, keep your fingers crossed that we get to go back to school tomorrow and that mamacantfindya gets power!!!!

Oh PJ, what a rough way to start the school year. Hope you find some gas and food soon. Check back in later, so we know you're ok. ;)

Hope BBN gets power soon too.

You know how "they" say bad things come in cycles. Well, you know that my neighbor passed away last Wed. Well, I found out that one of our 2nd grade Teacher's at DD's school lost her daughter yesterday. It was her only child. Her daughter was riding her bike and was hit by an SUV, and later died at the hospital. Please say a prayer for this teacher. Her name is Gloria Chapman. Her daughter was 20 years old and a junior here at a local university. It's just been a BAD week. :sad2:

Hey to everyone else!
You WISH it was my Riley, sister!
and I totally hear you on the one-sided conversation and reading outloud. I say, if I'm not actively engaging you with some kind of interest or eye contact, don't talk to me. (Or eat loudly near me...ever!)
Share Mr. Depp? Huh.
Maybe for a minute or two.

LOVE the color, such snazzy slings!! I had an old fashioned one, still loved it!!

So sad

Chicago area is under water - clearly a sign of the end of the world!! :sad2:

NAB - wonder if we could trade 6th graders if it would make a difference, I swear the problem is dd and me clashing, banging heads!! DD definately wants a cell phone - we shall survive! Of course I got in trouble by complaining at open house about the 4 hours of homework!! Result? DD is now seeing a social worker! (which isnt a bad thing, but I'm a "marked" mom now, and I HATE THAT - I'm now keeping my darn mouth shut!)

Sandy -- that is the problem with me and Nicholas too!! We butt heads all the time. Hubby says he is just like me stubborn. Our open house is tomorrow night I will remember to keep my mouth shut.

P.J.-- glad you still have power and that your helping out others. Hope things get back to normal for you and Babynurse soon.

Hannah wants to join Brownies because some of her classmates have. All I can think of is , I don't want to sell cookies.

I'm officially bored and there is officially no school again tomorrow. There's only so much cooking, cleaning, and lesson plans a person can do!! I've got lesson plans in order for the next 3 weeks. It just kind of stinks because we'll have to make all these days up in May. That won't be fun.

Wow. So sad. Prayers sent.

PJ...glad your power is back on...my sister out in Middletown isnt so lucky,,,,her power has been out since Sunday just after noon
Same with babynurse & co. I just watched the news and they said they restored power to 110,000 today but there are still 180,000 without power.

We DID, do, and are concerned. And love you both! Pixie Dust to ya!
Thanks for your did do and are concern. ;)

Our open house was supposed to be tonight. So much for that! Hopefully we'll be back to normal sooner rather than later.

So what's on the agenda for tonight?

Thanks for checkin' in PJ! Glad your safe and sound. Tell BBN, we hope she gets power soon. Sorry your Open House is cancelled too.

BH - How is Mr. Murray's family doing? I was thinking about them today. I know they are going through the same grief that my friends are.

Sandy
- Next time, CALL ME and RANT. That way you won't have any "labels" (which I think are ridiculous, but inevitable sometimes) but you will feel better, and you know I can sympathize because I have a drama queen as well. ;)

Thanks for the prayers everybody. My best friend is taking her leave. Her other substitute job ended last Friday, so she was in the right place at the right time. :thumbsup2
