Sandy -- that is the problem with me and Nicholas too!! We butt heads all the time. Hubby says he is just like me stubborn. Our open house is tomorrow night I will remember to keep my mouth shut.

P.J.-- glad you still have power and that your helping out others. Hope things get back to normal for you and Babynurse soon.

Hannah wants to join Brownies because some of her classmates have. All I can think of is , I don't want to sell cookies.

PJ I could use some organizing power!! (seriously you are keeping up a good humor!!)

Nab Do the Brownies, skip the cookies (I know heresy) and maybe she wont want to continue (it worked for us!! DD is holding out to join Boy Scouts at 15 - called Venture Scouting, they camp, and build fires... the Girl Scouts here have sold off all the camps, so sad!)

Lasst night's battle - she had to do a paper on Fate, if she believed it or not, and to tell what influences led her to this (that's the condensed version) Her response - I dont think anything influences me its JUST HOW I FEEL!

last weeks rant "the Native Americans didnt have this much homework, and they are doing just fine..... (later) those scientists are going to creat a black hole and we're all going to be sucked in so why should I waste my last moments on Earth doing homework" (you really cant debate my kids )

Allie I really should remember to use the phone numbers I have - I've been so isolated lately - that when I went to the open house I honestly thought I was being passionate, in an appropriate manner ( I mean seriously, why would I mouth off inappropriately ON PURPOSE, when I substitute there? OK so I am really stupid)

bottom line, I cant change things, so keep my mouth shut!

Oh, c'mon, NAB! Natasha joined Brownies this year. She begged, pleaded and cajoled until her BFF's mom found a spot for her in their troop. Sign her up....we can share the Brownie/mom experience virtually.

Allie, sorry to hear about your friend's daughter. Sending prayers.

Mony, I want free dining!!!! Now who wants to buy me a flight to the World as an early Christmas present?

Sandy, ACK on the DD drama! Remember, this too shall pass......

PJ, BBN, and all others affected.

Dang about the power loss and the related shortages/issues. It suck, been there, done that, and it anything BUT fun!

Allie, so sad abot that girl! Any parents worst nightmare!

I wish my son would call to let me know if he got to Colorado OK, but his phone is on voicemal, GRRRRR! I dont think he gets the worry factor us mothers feel.

I agree on the homework troubles, it too shall pass! There will be new and different issues :rolleyes1

Nab, Nicole was in Girl Scouts, and people LOVE GS cookies. It shouldn
t be that bad. Plus they sit outside of grocery stores too, so you don't have to go house to house. She might not win any prizes, but so what?

I never got lunch today, my sum total of food intake so far today was a snickers bar. I had a meeting at 12:30 and then had to go to a 1:30 class. I had visons of a yummy tuna salad sandwhich on a hamburger bun with American cheese on my mind (heated) (in the fancy "Executive" cafeteria), buiilding where the class was) but I ran out of time
So I am going to go heat up some chicken a la king.

Mony, congrats on the free dine!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I had drama with DD tonight while it took us several hours to study ONE Social Studies Vocabulary sheet for her test tomorrow. I told her that I would read out the definition, and she would give me the word. Seems easy enough to me, but it took us about 30 minutes to "understand" each other. :sad2: Also, it was running into my "making dinner" time, so she was peeved that she was having to wait on me. :sad2:

Anyway, when we did our last study session, I told her that she ought to go to Chicago, and see Sandy's DD, since they seemed to have the same views on studying. :rolleyes1 When she got one of her answers wrong, she told me that the teacher didn't know what she was talking about, and that that answer was wrong. :sad2: Anyway, maybe you should send yours down here to AL, and I could send you mine, and we could see what happens?:rotfl: :rotfl2:

Actually, I should CALL you. I shouldn't request something that I haven't done myself.

BH - How is Mr. Murray's family doing? I was thinking about them today. I know they are going through the same grief that my friends are.

Hi, they are staying busy trying to sell the Antique Mall and sell there farm...Mrs Murray has two daughters and a son to look after her. She was out of town when I checked the other day. She is doing as well as can be expected but its hard for her cause he took care of everything and drove her where ever she needed to go.

So I just heard from DS. I tried calling him twice tonight, no anwser, but reason below:

Hey guys, well i just came into the airfield/training facility place and am settling in. I came into the place with 4 others (safety in numbers and all) and it was pretty easy..we didnt get yelled at or anything. We met with one of the flight commanders who gave us the this is a weed out program and the last class had a 30% drop out rate. He then picked a few people, stood them up, and asked them some operation limits and things that we are going to be tested on tomorrow and most people didnt know the answer...i did...but if he would have called on me i dont know how my nerves would affect my answer. Anyway we start tomorrow morning with a 625am briefing and then do other stuff including 2 tests and a physical fitness test. Oh yeah, i also found out that we start flying on MONDAY...Oh my. I would have called, but there is absolutely no signal in this building. I will talk to yall later...its off to study... and by the way we just found out that some of the things we will be tested on tomorrow that i have been studying for the past month have changed so hopefully i will not put the old answers...

A 30% dropout rate??????? A weed out priogram? At this stage? Did anynone ever guess how hard this AF Officer training is?? I will have a nervous breakdown before this is over, or at least feel better if he doesnt make it IPlease send Pixie Dust that doesn't happen, this is his dream!))

Same with babynurse & co. I just watched the news and they said they restored power to 110,000 today but there are still 180,000 without power.

Hi...my sister called earlier...they have there power back on since about 430 pm :woohoo: they had about 10 coolers full of stuff to load back into the freezer and fridge...they say they didnt loose much.

YAY for your sister BH!

My network connection just went out, so I am on a really SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW DIAL UP right now.

I'm also sorry to hear about the power outages  Hope they get the CrazyNurseRanch powered back up way before the estimated time!

Sandy - What grade is your daughter in? 7th grade was really the only time I had major issues with my daughter. Sounds like puberty hormones to me! I just watched the WGN News. Wow, the flooding in the Chicago area looks terrible.

We still have standing water in our side yard, but the sump pump seems to be doing its job. Unlike at my sister's house. They had a back-up of water into their basement :headache: Fortunately, their neighbors came and helped them with cleanup until they could get the restoration company in and they diverted the piping outside so it didn't get too deep. They will be replacing their 3-year old carpeting.

Peej - Glad you didn't blow away!!! Hope you have a mild winter so you don't get out too late :)

Allie - That is such a sad story  That's why we mamas worry even about our grown kids.

Right, Marita???!!!!!

My DD and hubby are having some decent weather up north this week so far. I managed to lose track of Sukie for a while tonight. She snuck by me into the garage when I put some empty pop bottles out there :lmao: Cash was pretty active tonight. I gave him his pain pill early to slow him down so he wouldn't overdo. He's sleeping on the sofa next to me.

Mony - Waaaahhhh!!!!!!!!!! I want free dining too!

Nabbie - I vote for letting Hannah give the Brownies a try. I was in Camp Fire and am still friends with some of the girls from my group!

Wendy - Let us know how your showing goes! I could never keep my house that clean and uncluttered. Unless maybe if I were retired

I'm kind of enjoying having control of the TV this week.

BH - Glad to hear that Mrs. Murray has her children to help her out. Also, great that your sis has power again. :thumbsup2

Marita - Isn't amazing that anybody EVER makes it through? Actually, I think they just tell them that to make them study harder. Still sending pixiedust: though.

Thanks Moo and Allie!

Moo, yes, Moms never stop worrying!:scared:

Oh, so last night I went through some options for fight to Germany. NOTHING is goog!
Either 3 hour drive both ways, or 8 hour layover in Atlanta. I am NOT sitting in an Airport for8 hours!
SO I have to ponder this some more! I used to be so easy, direct Orlando to Duesseldorf, but NOOOOOOOOO, they had to change that !!!!! Overall prices is still probably going to be around $1,100. EEK! Remember, this is 1 person rond trip airfare, no hotels or anything!

OK - I'm in for a switch, your dd is so quiet and calm!!! :wizard: and I know my dd will be for others!! (just ask her teachers!!)

Marita - glad you found word from your ds!! You need to eat food woman!! I saw an ad on tv today that said ORBITZ.com has lowest airfare - I just checked and they had a 1 stop to Dus. Germany - $740 round trip! :scared1: (the stop was in Chicago!! United) Good Luck - you might try posting on the Transportation board Bavaria travels all the time (and goes to or is from Germany!!)

Is anybody else having trouble with the new Facebook?

Wordscraper does NOT show up in my applications and it's a pain to find my games!!!!!!!!!!

  :headache: :sad2: :scratchin :furious: :magnify: :scared:

GOOD MORNING!

Up early looking to buy a Chi straightener online. Emily turns 15 tomorrow and it's the only thing she wants...besides a Twilight bracelet sans the wolf. Wendee knows of what I speak.

Hound....glad to hear some of L'ville has power.

PJ....Thanks for the BNCG update. 10 days is a long time without power....especially with 4 kids. :scared: You really take for granted the little things that run on electricity.

Monica....Holy ship! Now free dining til Christmas Eve??? Congratulations! I hope the January codes are that good.

Marita....January codes? Any rumors? Let Sandy be your travel agent. She's good at finding cheap flights. The best, even. RE: DS....all appendages crossed.

Allie....I'll pray for your friend who lost her daughter. Every mother's nightmare..like Marita said.

Moo....Hope the water goes down soon!

Sandy
....Eck! The drama! I feel your pain.

Where's Celery?

Twink, MP, Wendee, everybody.....

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Can someone please explain to me how a category one hurricane sweeps through southern Indiana/LooUhVull???? 80 mph straight wind (Not tornado circulating winds) this far inland have never been recorded.

We did get power back today!!! There is a lady that lives down our road a bit that is on oxygen and they said they were trying to hook those people up first, I think we are just the lucky by product of her misfortune. Our "neighbors' down the road the other way are still powerless. and will probably continue to be for the rest of the week. our town still has no grocery or gas stations open and operating and there are still down power lines EVERYWHERE. some pretty close to the house and one is still on my gma's backyard fence. the electric company simply cant get to everybody yet.

some people have water, some do not. we do have water now. i am SO glad of that. i would rather have water than electric b/c i cant imagine how we would find water for the horses under the circumstances.

we need a new roof and all of our food in our fridge, freezer, and two deep freezers have been lost, but we are ok and that is the important thing. there have been several area deaths including a 10 yr old who got hit by a tree branch and a 36 yo mommy of two.:guilty:

it is still mass chaos trying to find groceries, gas, and good luck finding a restaurant open. if they are open they have either run out of food or the line is so long its not worth your time.

we did enjoy a candlelight dinner of peanut butter sammiches and a reading of Dr. seuss the other night.:upsidedow

i was stuck at the hospital sunday. they would not let any of the staff leave in case we needed to evacuate. we were on back up generators, but they kept going out and there were times we were in complete darkness. some patients were freaking out. (i've been using my psych nurse skillz a lot lately. ha)

that's all my story. i hope the rest of the area gets power and gas and water and food soon. and i hope all you guys are well.:goodvibes

p.s. a great big thank you to the loserfreak masquerading as a hotT college chick who not only made us homemade lasanga and cinnamon rolls the other night, but also provided hot showers so the bbn family could reach our goal of smelling nice.

Glad to hear that there is power back at Sunnybrook. I think it is amazing that that storm could still be that strong, and not be over any water to help "feed" it. Glad you are ok, and that the animals are all ok. :grouphug:

funeral today for the baby......last night was visitation ....as my nieces wanted everyone to meet her before they say goodbye........very very hard time .....over 100 people there.......

I know that I should be saying something but heck if I can remember......oh yah....Marita..glad that your son is where he should be and HE will do fine.....cause all his cyber aunties wish him well.

Glad that those in the area of all the floods and winds are okey.....will keep thinking of those who have lost so much......
