Can someone please explain to me how a category one hurricane sweeps through southern Indiana/LooUhVull????

And how it jumped over Nashvegas in the process?!?!?!

Me and my mom were perplexed driving up here - then when we started seeing "No ice! No gas!" everywhere, we got a little freaked.
Ha.
And parts of Cincinatti are still without power.
The clinic I'm in just got power yesterday.
They've been dialyzing all the area patients using a generator.

Hopefully I'll have gas when I try to leave town on Friday.

sandy and alli - instead of wife swap, daughter swap! woo!
Hayden's only 9 and she's starting the attitude stuff already.

pumba - still saying prayers for brielle's family

marita - but think about how well protected our country is since it's so hard to become an officer! - and I know your DS will make it!

melinda - I'm around!

peej - you are so sweet! thanks for being good to the babycow clan.
:cloud9:

When are we having this mammoth cave meet?
I thought we were supossed to do that this summer?
harumph!

monica - still praying!

its been forever since I took my daughter to Mamouth Cave.....we really enjoyed Ky Down Under.....she is 24 now .....living in South Louisville and still has no power

My heart broke reading that the baby passed. I am so sorry Pumba. My prayers are with you and the family.

BBN! Wow! A few hurricanes ago we got some major winds, all the way here in Michigan and I was surprised we didn't get the damage you did.

We did get a ton of rain over the weekend and I was so worried about the basement/new carpet, etc. But, it held up.

Glad to read you are all safe.

Marita, I just have the feeling your son will go far.

My oldest boy at 11 is turning on the major tudish. (Attitude)

sometimes I'm just left speechless.

Tomorrow is Tim's follow up apt from this last surgery. I am thinking we should have results. I have class and can't go with him. I'm just gonna be a mess.

I've been keeping it all locked up inside cause I just don't want to dwell on it. I admit I'm scared/worried/stressed over all of this.

Prayers for you and Tim. Be strong...I hope its just the old injury that showed up on the X ray.

Hi you'ns!

Apu at the apple support line just help me figure out an elaborate technical problem I was having with my missing "artist" feature. I may have nearly made him cry with frustration as to my ineptnesstitude. Poor computer geek.

Pumba- gads that is sooo sad! The death of a baby is a hard one for me to grasp. Prayers to the family and grieving!!! :grouphug:

BbN- You do know that Mormon families have a year's supply of food and water in their basements/food storage areas, right? They may also stock guns and ammo too, so be careful. And... glad you have power back. whew!

Celery/Cmama- see above helpful hint

Monica- I'm sure you're stronger than you realize! Still, I hope it's all good!

Melinda- oooooh the chi straightener is a good'un! Happy birthing day (early)! Tell me if you find a good deal on it.

funeral today for the baby......last night was visitation ....as my nieces wanted everyone to meet her before they say goodbye........very very hard time .....over 100 people there.......

I know that I should be saying something but heck if I can remember......oh yah....Marita..glad that your son is where he should be and HE will do fine.....cause all his cyber aunties wish him well.

Glad that those in the area of all the floods and winds are okey.....will keep thinking of those who have lost so much......

In my days without power I did not realize the baby had passed. I am so sorry! It's simply heartbreaking.

Hugs to you too mony. Hope all goes well.

well apparenty, a cold front mixed with the hurricane winds right around the ohio valley area (louisville, cincy..) this apparently caused the major "ruckus" 'round these parts. 80 mph winds were crazy. I cant even imagine those people in Galveston!!!

p.s. dont tell Peej that, she'll get a big head. we tolerate her only. heh heh

eta: b/c the dis ate my quotes...
we took the kids to Mammoth cave two years ago. it was fun.

poor Apu! He prolly never knew what hit him.;)

Pumba-- Those poor parents. Don't think I could do the visitation though.

Mony-- Praying for your family too. Hope you can put all this behind you after tomorrow. :grouphug:

Babynurse-- glad the power is back on...or am I :lmao: She is kicking my butt in the arcade again. That would be pretty scary being at a hospital in the dark. Hope everything gets back to normal in your part of the woods soon.

I did sign up Hannah for Brownies last night. She starts next Monday and they give me a little piece of paper that says Mint cookies are going home then too. Their uniform has come along way since the brown dress. Their colours are orange and navy.

Just got back from helping out my friend move some boxes over to her new house.

I hate moving. But THANKFULLY all I had to do was transfer boxes from her house to my truck to her new house. I don't have to have anything to do with unpacking. Yay! :cool1:

Isaac was a good boy for my sister. He only caused Little John on bump on the head. :headache: John is just starting to crawl and pull himself up, he's still unsteady. Plus he is such a tiny little thing and Isaac is such a fatty.

Glad you have your power back, BabyN.

Thanks for the update BabynurseCowgirl. I was getting worried. I was just about to call the marines. Or send in the clowns. I fergit which.

I am glad all the hotT college chix are ok, safe, sound, smellin' nice, and have electricity.

Utah- you are not the last woman in the world to get an ipod. I don't have one. Our laptop died some time ago and isn't being replaced either. This winter I probably have to walk to the grocery store, in the snow, uphill both ways. ;)

Monica- I know you are worried.

You Brownie Moms rock. Too funny. The big news here is one little twinkie twin has decided to quit gymnastics. :guilty: I am kinda sad about it... and over-analyzing, AND doing the whole mom guilt thing. Sigh.

Here is a picture from the summer- the one in purple is quitting. Her is sister is the better gymnast so maybe she just wants to have her own "thing"... I just hate that she was feeling pressure over something that is supposed to be for fun.
LauraSummer08563.jpg

But Twinkie got to wear the shiny leotard and has beautiful curly hair in a ponytail... I wish we were doing skating again this year but I am not the one that has to get out there. She just wanted to skate not learn all the figure skating stuff , it scared her I think.

Mommy P-- I liked the unpacking better then the packing up part. We were lucky when we moved here hubby's company paid for the truck and moving boxes part.

Pumba so very sad... my heart also cries...

BBN :scared1: WTH?!! (Wendy is going to make converts out of us all yet!!) Now how far are you from Indy? (we have to go to Indy Friday! Not sure how to get there as all the roads to IN from IL ARE FLOODED!! What a mess!) Add charcoal to the list, and cook up everything! I hate when we lost all our freezer foods!! such a waste!

Mony what words are there? Truly, nerve wracking, you've dealt with it so well - just keep planning the trips to Disney, let the :wizard: Magic heal you all!!

Nab Good luck with Brownies...

Hey it sounds like we need to have a parent of an 11 year old support group!!

Melinda Where do can I find a bracelet like that?? DD would love one, her birthday is a month away!!

Wendy any nibbles on your house?

BH - I have found memories of camping near Mammoth cave - I liked Merimac Caverns better tho - dh not so much, so our kids have been spared that trip! Sad that.

Celery apparently some of the shortages are due to panic - yeah, right! Why is it that gas is under $100 a barrel but we're still paying over $4 a gallon? I know, no answer there... oil companies should have to bail out the housing crisis... and AIG crisis... (this is why I can never run for public office!! )

Twinkie you are flexible!

MommyP I've been itching to move, but the mere thought of packing, and organizing all alone, drives me back into our cave/home! Nice you can help!

Marita I didnt eat lunch today, I thought I pulled a Marita!! how goes the flight search? You can also try the search engine kayak.com or sidestep.com for fares...

Moo How are you feeling??

Allie I almost called you - we really need to arrange a kid swap! ;)

twinks - each little twinkie needs her own thing. maybe it will be math.

hi to everyone else!!!

p.s. a great big thank you to the loserfreak masquerading as a hotT college chick who not only made us homemade lasanga and cinnamon rolls the other night, but also provided hot showers so the bbn family could reach our goal of smelling nice.
Awwwwww!!!!!!!! Glad you got your power back, bbn. What a pain in the patoot that must have been.

Mony - Anyone would be worried and stressed :grouphug: Prayers for good news tomorrow. Sorry you can't be with Tim at his appointment.

Pumba - What a tough thing to go through :sad1: Hope your niece and her family have lots of support. Sending healing thoughts and prayers.

Nab - Yay for letting Hannah join Brownies! I think it's good to let kids try new things. Even if they don't stick with them. My daughter has always dabbled in a lot of different activities.

Twink - Those look like pretty goog handstands to me!!! I was disappointed when Mari dropped out of band after her sophomore year, so I can relate to how you must be feeling! BUT . . . then she tried lots of other things I never would have thought she'd try. Like shotput :confused3 Business Professionals of America. Quiz Bowl. Knitting. Just to name a few.

Sandy - I seem to have gotten over my cold pretty fast. Knock on wood

Has everyone read the announcement on All Ears that Bay Tower goes on sale to DVC owners this Sunday? There's a cute youtube. I called DVC to find out when it goes on sale to the general public and to get on a waiting list if there is one :woohoo: I think the agent said it goes on sale on October 5. Hope I can afford to buy in. A lot of people have been waiting for this. They're also adding Treehouse Villas at Saratoga Springs.

Bay Tower is the DVC property that's right next to the Contemporary!

I think it'll be of high interest due to the monorail accessibility.

Celery apparently some of the shortages are due to panic - yeah, right! Why is it that gas is under $100 a barrel but we're still paying over $4 a gallon? Allie I almost called you - we really need to arrange a kid swap! ;)

Ok, we "walkin' mamas" had this very discussion last week. Not about the oil, but running for public office. I laughed and told them that I could never run because my mouth gets me in enough trouble as it is. :rotfl2: :lmao: I speak BEFORE I think. :headache:

I would LOVE a kid swap, or maybe I could trade her in for a better model. :rolleyes1 I'm just kidding. :goodvibes I was at church tonight, maybe we can talk this weekend. ;)

Ok, DS' restaurant (that he has been working for since Monday) is open, but not advertised as open. It might be where DH and the kids have to eat tomorrow.

I go back to the Dr. tomorrow. He is supposed to drain my left leg that I had worked on last Friday. Well, when the nurse called to confirm my appt., she told me that he had written down that I might have to have that same procedure done again TOMORROW! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Not that the procedure is that bad, but I still don't know what my portion is gonna be.:confused3 Remember it is $150 a Vile, and I have NO idea how many he used last Friday, and how many he will use tomorrow. How can I ask, in a tactful but firm way, how much I am in for? My legs bother me, so I know I need this done, but I'm not made out of money either. :sad2: I wouldn't go into a store and pick out things without looking at the price. So why is it, when you go to the Dr., they can do things that you have NO IDEA how much it costs, and how much it is gonna cost you?

Ok, rant over, sorry.

Twinks - Those are some cute gymnasts!! Maybe twin two will find something else that she enjoys.

hmmm, I might smell an add-on contract at Bay Lake Towers in my future.
:thumbsup2
