Marita- I am so sorry about your mom. I hope all the arrangements go smoothly.

Lynette- (hug)

MommyP- I am so bummed that we didn't get to see you. I hope your dad makes a full recovery. I love the clothes! Unfortunately it is cold back home so I need to buy a long sleeved onesie to wear under the dresses.

Everyone else- my computer is acting wonky so the internet is a pain. We had a great time. More on that later- I haven't even downloaded my own pictures. Not even sure we took any... too busy having fun. There must be something in the water because I am already ready to go back. The kids are at such great ages (well except the teenager.. not that he isn't great, just not into Disney).

Ticks......I hate the thought of going out in the woods hunting....the ticks are still there....makes me shudder.
I had to remove one last year from hubbies back and omg I was literally goosebumps all over....
so I may not go hunting unless we get some snow in November.....it opens Saturday but .....there is that tick scaring me..

Welcome Back Twinkie!!! Sorry you didn't get to meet up with Mommy P.

I guess I don't go in the woods much or we don't have them. Don't even know what a tick looks like. :confused3

Nicholas bring home his projects and math test today to show me how well he is doing so far. He said he wants to make the Honour Roll. :faint: I think he has better teachers this year too that he likes. They cleaned house over the summer and have a lot of new teachers in the school this year.

We were in Michigan to visit Moo of course. :thumbsup2
Awww, that's so sweet, Nabbie! I'm so glad you were able to come to Michigan!!!

MommyP/Lynette - So sorry to hear about your distressing news :grouphug:

Marita - I concur with Pumba's suggestion on asking for a keepsake for Nicole. It sure won't hurt to see if you can get a better deal on your cruise accommodations!

Lil G - Hard to tell if some of those MSU players from your trip are still around! Even some of my hardcore Spartan fan coworkers are saying that they fear the team is being overrated. Time will tell!!!

Twink - Welcome back! I just talked with a friend from work who was at Epcot for Food & Wine Festival last week and it sure makes me want to go during that time. Hope you were able to enjoy some of the foods, etc. from the booths during your trip :)

Welcome back, Twinkie, glad you had a great time!

Pumba, asking for a memento is a great way to ask for something, thanks. I hear you on the ticks, yuck, but I wouldnt want to go hunting in the cold anyway, lol

Nab, sounds like Nicholas is turning around, yay!!

Nothing much to report here, ordinary boring day. Got nothing done with trip preparations today. My brother is way too busy to help with the trip, he works in his business 6-7 days a week,10-12 hours a day, and he is 70!
Besides, with internet it's no issue plus I speak German, and even if I need to call, I have tons of minutes to call thee for $5 a month. I need to remember to cancel that soon!

Twinkie's back! Welcome home, my prairie-dwelling pal! I trust your trip was chock-full-o-pixie-dust amazing, yes?

Marita, I second (third?) Pumba's suggestion about the memento for Nicole. Also, may I suggest that you take some time while you're there to find as many old photos as possible and find a place to make copies for yourself. If you make one copy of each photo you can find, you can put them on a CD for your kids...then they can print out the ones they like best.

Hi NAB and Moo! And you too, Pumba!

Thanks for the hugs and kind words, ladies. Didn't mean to sound like a whiner....it just seemed like everything that's happened in the past week or so has been crappy news. Although I have to say that hearing all these problems has made me hug my kids a bit tighter and appreciate my DH even more than I already did.

I got an update today from my friend with breast cancer (her name is Ellie). She heard back from her oncologist this morning, and will have to undergo a 2nd procedure for removal of additional tissue on November 8, then she'll start radiation shortly thereafter. If y'all can find the time to keep Ellie in your prayers, I surely would appreciate it.

Also, I attended the wake for my mom's friend. She is doing very well, all things considered. I think that the mom had been ill off and on for so long that they family is sort of relieved that she's finally at peace. Sigh.

On a lighter note, I took Boris and Natasha for their dental checkup and cleaning today. Both kids are cavity free! Now we have to set the gears in motion for Boris to get his braces. Hear that? That's the sound of my checkbook pleading for mercy. Heh.

Okay, gotta get myself to bed. We're in the last few days before Halloween, which means that work is crazy busy for the next few days.

Lynt, faulous idea about the pics. In fact, I just remembered that my brother said that he saved all the pics and was waiting for me to come back to sort through them. Nicole made a an album for mom just about 3 or 4 months ago, she spent days scanning old pics and put them in an album and sent it to mom, who was very pleased with that. Funny thing is, mom thought it was from her other granddaughter called Nikki who lives in Berlin. Why Nikki from Berlin would send her an album containing pics of mom and my kids in America apparently never crossed her mind, LOL. But at least we got it cleared up finally, so my Nicole got the proper credit fot it. Anyway, long story to say I think DD will be all over that project!

Prayers for your friend, hope all turns out well.

morning everyone...
IT is still yucky dark out this morning....And Ms. Megara went potty even in the rain.....she must of had to go bad.....I am so glad that we dont have to go outside (except when I am in full hunting gear, then it is NO FUN)..

Marita...you will be leaving soon for Germany and your mamas final resting place...Give her some hugs from the pixie dust flying diser's..
Nicole is a good daughter I can tell from your writings..and so is your son....blessed is the word for that.

Hubby bought us our Christmas present early.....air ...we havent done anything else but we have AIR.....hahaha

Have a good day my friends

Marita-- for some reason your brother being 70 shocked me...

Lynette-- prayers for all that need it. Yay on the no cavitites. I hear you on the braces Nicholas could use them to correct his bite not because they have spaces or not straight.

Pumba -- What do you mean my air? Air conditioning....We have been having really wicked wind the last to days. Knocking off all pretty leaves off the trees. This is the first sunny day we had in awhile.

I am off on a field trip with Hannah's grade 5 class today. This one I am excited about. It is the Royal Ontario Museum. They have an exibit on China and they have some of the clay soliders there. Long ride but don't have to pay for down town parking or to get in bonus.

Pumba, I second the "what air?" I thought it was cold up there?

We on the other hand have record highs for October, in the 90's, but luckily not humid.

Nab, yeah, my brother being 70 shocked me too . Means I am really OLD! He is 12 years older than me though.
Your field trip sounds very cool, hope you had fun.

Lynt, I thought you shipped thing via internet orders. Do people wait till the last second for Halloween too like for Xmas? I never thought of Halloween as a mail order day, LOL.

Nothing noteworthy to report for me. Well, except that a year end review with director that was scheduled for 5pm (BOO!) got rescheduled to Nov. 19 at 2:30, much better time. So I was home by 5:40 tonight.

Yes Marita, we do sell gifts and novelties and sports memorabilia at my work. We also sell Halloween costumes. It's a HUGE part of our business. Bigger than Christmas, even. Traditionally, costume sales are heavy from mid-August right through Halloween, but we do sell them year-round. And yes, lots of people wait until the last minute. All the orders that ship this week include ridiculously high expedited shipping charges. Tsk-tsk!

We also offer lots of merchandise at wholesale to retailers like the Harriet Carter catalogs, as well as Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.

Aren't you glad you asked? *yawn* ;)

I got some very GOOD news today! My friend's 1st grader FINALLY received a much-needed liver transplant earlier this week! This poor lil guy was born with a heart defect and has already had 2 heart surgeries as a result. He's also beat cancer TWICE, and he's only in first grade. The chemo he received for the last fight with cancer ruined his liver, which is why he needed the liver transplant. My friend says that he is doing very well, and is already asking his dad to bring in his favorite foods - an excellent sign! I'm very excited for them. I guess this sort of balances out all the crappy news from the weekend. God is good, my friends!

Greetings, all :goodvibes

Glad to hear the good news about your friend's son, Lynette! Sending prayers for Ellie

sorry all...
When I refer to AIR I mean AIR in the sky type of airplane..tickets....up up and away we go next year.

it is soooo foggy out this morning that I couldnt see across the street.......its because it has been wicked humid yesterday and today it is that way already..

Last night I got my flu shot at the supermarket.....next to the meat dept. I laughed when I saw the table to sign in.....and I made a silly comment about YUP next to the rump roast.......but they had it in a conference room next to that area.......so I got it and now I am good to go...well good for the season...

Hope you all have a great day

Pumba -- that is funny about the flu shot place. It has been warm here to and I like it.

Didn't get to see my clay soldiers.. it was an extra exibit and you had to pay to see it. I would have if it was only Hannah and I but I was watching 5 others and it probably wouldn't have been far to the rest of the class if we saw them and they didn't. Never the less loved the rest of the stuff there, the next biggest thing to see there is the mummy, it creeped the girls out , the boys loved it of course.

Today Nicholas goes for his cat scan so he is pretty nervous, but happy to miss some school.

Can't believe it is Thursday already...this week is flying by.

Nab hope that Nich did good today ...let us know how he made out.

It is so nice out that we have windows opened....it is beautiful out......this morning couldnt see the house in front of ours......now the sun is beautiful and warm out...

See ya later everyone

MommyP: So sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he is doing well.

Lynette: Hugs all around my friend.

i just booked our first night hotel in Germany. What an ordeal! First trying to decide where to stay, el cheapo out of the way place or slightly better downtown (well, what is DT in a 15K people town, LOL). Not knowing if we will have a car yet, brother can probably give us one from his car place, but not sure yet. So I decided to book at least the first night downtown, not much more money, and we can walk places. We'll see after that.

So once I made that decision, there was operator error on someones (hrmmphh) part, and I had to cancel the reservation and start all over. But finally got it down, whew! So it's now after midnight!!

Last day of work tomorrow. I have so much stuff to do at home yet before I leave, not even funny.

Good night!

I cant imagine how it is to do all these reservations in other countries. Its hard enough doing reservations for places here in the US...I hope that your trip will be uneventful now....

Today I slept in...7:40 Ms Megara got upon the bed and looked at me.......Now that would give anyone the creeps....I said OKEY I will get up......she had to go potty......so now breakfast for her is done.....her pills are in her belly, my pills are in my belly as well as my breakfast...now enjoying my coffee.

It looks kinda overcast and halloweenish out right now.......all my treats are ready for the goblins on Sunday night. they are all getting chips ...except those dingalings up the street........they will get dum dum lollipops.....

hope you all have a good day today...

It started out so nice yesterday and slowly got colder, now it is darn cold...brrr.

Black and orange day at school, Hannah is excited. She has Guide camp this weekend too and leaves tonight after school. Nicholas has a Halloween Dance so it is a good day for them.

Pumba -- Love how you are giving the dingalings something else. How will you know it is them?

Marita-- Hope the day goes smoothly for you, when do you fly out. If I don't catch you tonight safe travels my friend, I will be thinking about you and your family and saying some prayers for you.

backie....don't families rent out rooms with lil'signs? [ sorta like
a breakfast & bed outfit?] . maybe if you know someone locally,
they could recomend one? they were my favorites place to stay
in germany, but that was in the 1970's. gosh, i 'm old,,
anyone have an extra cane?

well, i feel like beating my chest! going to brag a little! i have
always heard.....from my old nurse mentors, patients can survive
bad doctors but not bad nurses. yesterday , i proved them right.
if i hadn't held to " to my guns!", a sweet lil' old man would not be
alive today. [lately, they are abusing our staff liked crazy...we are
taking care of everything you can imagined. think about this...,
doing blood gasses, stat blood work, medical treatments on a psych
ward..... :snooty:, fyi these things are not even done on a medical
unit but icu, hint~hint! ]

this little guy was dropped off by his wife , who could no longer
take care of him. no wonder! he was 2 steps away from dying,
but all the doctors that saw him, ignored un-believable signs/
symptoms. worst, the drs. tried to "show" me up, but i refused to budge.
& that literally, saved his life. first he had a positive d-diamond test,
indicating pul. emboli., just to begin with. then i used my old icu
knowledge, [ pretty rusty-haven't been there in years], to crammed
it down their throats!]

though other admission nurses, nursing supervisor tried to get the dr.
to changed his mind,.., oh, he ok to go !". this is where i took over.
.....how does a dr. tried to show up a nurse? iam sure baby-n. already
knows. but for the lay person...no breath sounds in his lower lobes,
:scared1:, ....the dr. listened, then he went & requested every
other dr./rn to do the same[ medical nurses] . why? to find someone
to dispute my report. [ i had an old cheapo stretscope & they had their
fancy ones. ] .see? this is a common ploy.

i didn't budge...i know reality! so you think he stop? noooooooo! look
dan, dos he looks like he is in moderate distress? he's just confuse
& anxiety ridden? no doc, [ got to be respectful though he 's full of
crap], ....you see, his po2 is only 89, and he has never been a smoker!
so if this was anxiety, then po2 would be high! yes, he sitting there
quietly and not complaining. this is where i relied on my psych knowledge
to show why! :thumbsup2. 10 days earlier, "doc", he had purple
feet. noticed? they documented he denied any pain? how can that be?
[ think how cold, poor circ. feet would hurt] ...when i spoke with him,
he was upset,of being admitted, anywhere, [ his wife was worry because
he was sitting all night in the car-to drive home & go to bed.] this was
critical data, and i used it, he was begging me to call his wife to come
& get him....he wasn't confuse, but very, very sick. [ medical]. why
do you think, he would not tell them the truth.....anything he thought
that would get him admitted, he would never admitt to. so when
the doctors asked why?, i pointed his purple feet out....i crammed this idea
down their throats! plus, did any of you ask him to take off his shirt?
let's see.....you think his breathing in the 30's, & using "all his "
intercostal muscles means something?

and still they did all the icu stuff on our unit....then the results came back!
blood gasses, po2 60's [ should be near 98-100]. low, low, hgb. needless to
say, he was near critical & still was able to fake all of us out. * if he
could, he would have went home, to bed . and never awaken.

oh, don't think, nurses who stand up & make sure the right things are
down ..are rewarded. nope, instead they are abused. but i rather be
in that group than the others. fyi, a couple years ago, i was in an
investigation....and this is what they told me....." we
heard you pick on doctors?". did i ever mentioned i do excellent
documentation? i made them "eat" every single word! and i am passing
on to the younger nurses how to do the same. why? because in
reality, our "work" are people well being. this lil guy, was the sweetest
man...you could tell, he had a wonderful family, life. he deserved
better then what he was getting. unless nurses "do"- stand up for
patients then the outcomes will not be those we desire.

lately, i been thinking about my life choice. being a nurse has been
one big pain after another. i was offered med school right after
earning my rn degree. but decided [ was early 20] , it didn't matched
what i wanted out of life. funny thing is, i don't think i would have
accomplished as much. and those nurses i first work with, gave me
so much. [ this is where my talents came from-gifts from those
nurses long go]. and while i be making money, not that much more..
nor the experiences, including taking care of spainish-american war
veterans..& the oldest person on earth[ mid 1980's--he was around
136 years/old...ahhh , good-old country living.]

thanks for letting me vent, now back to work.:)
