Marita - Thanks for the update :grouphug: We'll be keeping you in our thoughts. w00t for the arrival of knitfreak's son!!! Hope all is well.

Pumba - The cherry wine is from Chateau Grand Traverse on Mission Peninsula (near Traverse City) here in Michigan. It's more of a dessert wine. I bought cherry wine from a few different places, including one sparkling cherry wine. I'm saving that one for Christmas!

Cel - Nice to see you around these parts ;)

Little chilly this morning but the sun is out shinning and the leaves are so orange and red. Just love it. Hannah's favourte part is walking in the leaves that fall on the sidewalk.

Do you know how hard it is to buy sandwich bags with a twist tie...I was out this morning looking and can't find them anywhere. They have the fold top , but mostly zip lock now. I need the twist top ones for the bake sale cookies I am making. Thought I would tie the bag with a ribbon. Couldn't find sandwich ones but got medium freezer ones. Hope they are not too big.

Guess I better get baking. Have to take them over to the church tomorrow and help set up for the bazaar.

Mmm, cookies! You're getting started early, Nabbie!!!

Another slowish day around here. Not much new with me. Kettlebell class kicked my butt tonight. That's what happens when I miss a week, I guess :rolleyes1

Hi Moo!

I made 8X my recipe so I had cookies everywhere. I after putting cookies in there lunch tomorrow I will have 4 cookies left at home, soon as everyone got home including hubby tonight they were almost gone. I bagged up 20 bags of cookies for the bake sale.

Took Nicholas to the doctors this afternoon. School sent him home with his headache again. The doctor is sending him for a cat scan. Nicholas was hoping for powerful pills to take his pain go away. He was sick after swimming Tuesday night too.

My sister's thyroid cancer is back again too. She had her thyroid removed last year but I guess they didn't get it all. :sad1:

YUM cookies, Nab! Sounds so good.

So sorry to hear about Nicholas and your sister, that sucks. Hope they get better soon.

Still slowish at work. I was scheduled to take a vacation day tomorrow, so I'm taking it, so I only worked 2 days this week.
Still have another week to work before we go to Germany. Then I go for the entire week just as my coworker is starting his new job, so nobody in Finance for the week, but I'm sure they will cover it somehow. I'm seriously thinking about getting out of Resorts though, I think a change of pace would be good. I'll have to see about that when I get back though.

Nabbie - That's a lot of cookies!!!

So sorry to hear about your sister. Cancer sucks. Hope they're able to treat it

Have they checked Nicholas for high blood pressure? That is a pretty common cause of headaches, but I know there are tons of causes. Our secretary at work has frequent headaches due to a chiari malformation. She's trying to decide whether to have surgery.

Marita - Too bad you can't just retire!!!!! I know it's hard to make the decision to have less $$ to live on, especially if your house isn't paid off yet. There are hordes of people retiring where I work right now because they have an early out incentive and those who don't go have to pay 3% more into a fund toward retirement health insurance. I just can't afford it yet. But if I were 62 and able to draw Social Security, I would be out of there in a heartbeat. My boss is retiring in mid-December and with SS, he said he'll have about the same income so it doesn't make sense for him to keep working.

I thougth I posted yesterday?

Maybe not I was busy setting up for our church thing. I am surprised how many bring things in for the White Elephant sale dirty or broken, even had a box of books that were eaten by mice....gross. :sad2:

Now I am trying to get everyone up for pictures at 10:00. Both kids have thick hair so it needs time to dry. So does mine since this is one of those times I actually curl my hair and put makeup on.

Off to do some yelling up the stairs to get Nicholas out of bed. Hannah and I have already showered. Now it is the guys that are still in bed....

morning...

nab hope and pray that Nick is okey and that your sister has another good remission....

Marita..just take a break that week, even though you are going to be with your relatives and mama......and maybe when you cruise.....then you will feel up to staying put in resorts...you never know what will happen...

Fed ex just came with two Vera Bradley bags.....got a good sale.....and they are different colors that I wouldnt think of getting.......I love them.....hubby said ."why on earth do you need MORE pocketbooks...well one is for summer and one is for fall and spring and one is for all the other times....I love it...

Hope you all have a great day and enjoy our fall in the northern states and Canada......it is just gorgeous.......COLD but gorgeous

Nab - What were you doing in Michigan?

Well I didn't get to have my meet n greet with Twinkie. We went up Friday night, but had to drive home Saturday morning because my Dad had a stroke. So I dropped off the dresses for the newest Twinkie babe at Pop that's as close as we got to Twinkie. ;o)

My Dad is okay, it's hard seeing him using a walker to get around and not able to use his left arm/hand for much of anything. He has always been my go to guy for getting things fixed. :( It's so sad. Turns out this was actually his 4th stroke, the other 3 he didn't know about. The saddest thing is that he brought this on himself. He has known for a couple months that his BP was 200+ over something else outrageous. No insurance, so he ignored it. So now they have gazillions in Dr. bills from the hospital. I guess the hospital bill itself will be taken care of, but they will have to pay all the individual drs. that saw him there. And he is on a ton of meds to keep his bp down still. He was in the ICU for a few days and a regular room for a day or so. He came home Wednesday, couldn't get into the rehab place because it was $1000 a day. Since my parents have excellent credit the rehab place wouldn't help them out. They said they could just put it on a credit card, of course you can't do that unless you can PAY the credit card and since he was unemployed for 3 years he couldn't do that. And of course now he can't work and my Mom can't get a job because she has to take care of my Dad. They have been living off unemployment and an inheritance the last 3 years. So they have a long hard road ahead of them. My sisters and I think they need to just take the last bit of money they have left and pay off their house. At least that can't be taken from them. That way they can get some assistance until my Dad gets better so my Mom can get a job. He is only 56 so he has a ways to go before he can get his ss.

Hope everything is going well for everyone else.

I've started couponing. It's so rewarding and fun. I've spent 97.81 in 2 weeks. We have had more food in the house than ever and I have saved: $166.70. The best part is I'm shopping at PUBLIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think any of you have Publix in your states, but whatever your nicest and most expensive grocery store is that's our Publix. lol. But with coupons and their BOGO deals I spend a 1/3 the amount I usually spend at Walmart and get more food. Last week I got 6 boxes of Cheerios for $7.47 and I got some liquid creamer for $.16. At CVS I got 6 boxes of Frosted Mini Wheats for $15 and then got $10 back that I was able to use to get toothpaste without having to spend any more of my money.

Anyway, it's fun to get lots and spend less. lol

MommyP-- Sorry to hear about your Dad. That is pretty young. I heard that sometimes you don't even know you had them unitl a bigger ones knocks you down and they check.

We were in Michigan to visit Moo of course. :thumbsup2 And while there go shopping in the U.S. It takes about 5 hours to get there but we love to shop at one of the largest Christmas Store , Bronners. We got a bunch of ordnaments personalized for teachers, family and Hannah's best friends for Christmas.

Pumba -- your bags sound lovely. What colours did you get?

We went to the church bazaar after our pictures. One lady there gave Hannah some flowers because she looked so nice dressed up. Hannah made a bide on a teddy bear and got it for $2.50 at the silent auction. Nicholas just went back since it done at 2:00 He was biding on a Olympic Canadian Jeresy. I wants to see what the last bide is.

Nab...can you believe getting a bag for ten bucks on one and fifteen on the other..One is sort of brown and beige but small type of holder.(hannah cafe latte...and the other one is Libby Puccini....weird but nice for a change.
I hope that my daughter doesnt like them.....hahaha.....only kidding ..I will share which ever one she wants..

today we went to walmart so hubby could get a new battery for the four wheeler.....I mean we dont want to go out in the boonies and not have a way to get back....sometimes we go ten or so miles out in the woods......and I MEAN THE BOONIES......sometimes at dusk I scare myself....hahaha...cause I am alone until hubby comes and picks me up on the four wheeler...

I got a sweater that they had on sale..I love 12 buck sweaters..no buttons or zippers...just a sweater...
Also got 2 big bags of salt and vinegar chips for two grandkids instead of candy and a bag of cheese puffs that are like popcorn but not...for ava...she likes those.....the rest of the kids that come to the house will get the smaller bags of doritoes....

I need a snack but trying hard to behave and lose some weight......I need to lose a few ........
Have a good night everyone.

MP, so sorry about your dad! Hope he gets better soon. I was almost in that situation, hadn't been to a dr. in years and the nurse took my BP and said she was about to send an ambulance for me. Been on pills since then and doing well, but im almost out and i need to get a refill this week befoere I go to Germany if I can get in.

Too bad about missing a Twinkie meet:(. At least they had great weather.

Woohoo on the coupon deals! Where do you go to find those?

Nab, wow, pcture time again already? Seems like you just had them done a couple of months ago.
I think it would be fun if you posted the last 5 years in 1 post, just to see how the kids have grown.

I managed to yet again get nothing done this weekend except for some work stuff. ***??????? Tried to get a pedicure tonight at 6, but the owners were closing early. Not that anyone will see my toes in Germany anyway, it's lows of like 35. I need to get fingernails done this weekend for sure though. I bought some hair color, so I have to that tomorrow.
Have a good weekend, everyone.

Howdy everyone..
Today was a quiet so so day. I stayed in my housecoat until past one pm...I know lazy.
For supper I made stuffed boneless skinless chicken thighs...I love a thigh better then chicken breast...the thighs have more flavor....well we had that and red baked taters and green peas..such a pretty color on the plates...hahaha...

two weekends in a row young people have died in car accidents....going to fast and not wearing their seat belts.....my nephew died 15 years ago when his car flipped over and he was stuck under his car in five or so inches of water.......this is what he died of.....no trauma to his body but drown in that run off water by the side of a road....back then seatbelts were not part of our new laws..mandatory for all ages all the time in front or back seats..

It got dark really early tonight..like five or five thirty....I hate that about this time of the year..

Hope you all have a great night.
see you tomorrow

...almost forgot, i was a lil' bad....during mnsshp when we went
& saw the fairies. :rolleyes1, while we were there, a lady came in
& was dressed liked peter pan. [ pretty good @ that!]. so i
invited her to join us in our pictures. wouldn't you know it?
some guy came in , dressed liked captain hook. guess what?

..so we got some really neat pictures with the whole gang,

:thumbsup2

have you all read the post about tinker bell being insane?
there's your first clue, "insane." now i know disney isn't
prefect but i think they do screenings of potential employees,
especially those in the high profile jobs, etc. the characters.

what is bothersome, when guests used this type of projections, &
complain , will have new restrictions, that will limit this wonderful
art-form. [ from my experiences /observations, these are professionals-\
trained to meet certain acting roles. if one knows the stories then there
are no surprises except for good ones.]

i'm sorry tinker didn't meet with the mother's expectations but noticed
how she drama-tized as if causing her daughter mental anguish?

well, there's the second clue...she is only 2 years old. does she knows
all the definitions of being a pirate or reacting to her mother 's displays?

...most likely, her mother was the reason for her tears. stranger
anxiety is a "stage" that all children go through....oh, that's right...
her daughter is too pretty for that.

thirdly was her mother attention seeking behavior by posting, her\
daughter in her pirate: outfit instead of just the outfit. got news for her.
while her daughter was cute, in no ways doesn't mean then she is
"cuter" that any other lil' girl.

why? i suspect, the mother was expecting tinker to "break" her mold,
to love pirates, her lil'girl. so she could used that as a reference to
how much "better" her daughter is compare to everyone else. the
insane remark was stir others in her feelings and maybe a $ suit.

but @ what cost to the actress?

the point here....see how reality orientation can work? she is 2 years
old....what is a 2 year child ability to process all the meanings
of a pirate? wonder if her mother was forcing her to take pictures
of tink?

well moo? spartie is setting pretty. [ i can't help but wonder, if
some of the players i met during wdw 2007 christmas trip are
still on this year team] .

sad, about the rutgers' player spinal cord injury. saw the play, which is
very, very surprising. not only did it look liked a bad hit but wasn't
near his neck/head area @ all. so :confused3 ,... what i think, he
sustained a previous injury that was missed, & the motion caused the
damages. they need to educate & screen all players to
report s/s so this condition can be prevented.

..well pumba, we hoping for a good hunting season. * i just missed a
trophy back a few weeks ago..in my truck. if he hadn't leap over my
hood , :yay: . it is so sad to see so many deer hit by cars , laying
on the side of the road.

...ineffective coping? understanding basic human dynamics are in~
deeds, can lead to problem solving and excellent progress. what we
see @ work, is the tendency to put others down, as a defensive
mechanism so the person can avoid self-realization. unfor., in the long
run, one does not grow or reach their potential.

did you all see in ohio where they suspended a high school for taking
a picture @ her sister wedding with the beer bottle. is anyone else
"see" why our school systems are so mess up? :headache:

when oh poor society, are our "brains" admin. going to recognize our
children basic & ongoing needs for "growth & development"..& bring
back the dick & jane readers? :teacher:

psst , if you can't put 1+ 1 together then you 're never going to
recognize the number 2...& when you don't understand the simple
things in life, others will take advantage, like the insane poster....

fyi, we see this type all the time.

morning everyone..

Saturday is opening day for hunting just for Maine residents. Then it opens for everyone the following Monday...
Our son got his moose two weeks ago so room is at a premium in the freezers..879 lb field dressed. I love venison too..

Today is very wet and yucky out.....dreary looking. Probably Ms. Ava and I wont go to far...

After hubby gets home and Ava leaves, I will go and get my flu shot at the local pharmacy. Then over to the hospital lab for a test........I didnt even study for it......HAHAHA..

Trash is out and so are the recycles...so monday is now officially done for that stuff.

Have a good day my friends

It is raining here too Pumba, sun is trying to shine though.

We have election day here ...have to vote for Mayor and such. Best part is the voting station is at the kids school so that makes it easy for me. I would still vote if it was somewhere else though. Never understand why people don't then complain when they don't like the person voted in. :confused3

Tired today so it must be Monday! Stay up way to late on weekends.

Hi Moovers!

*****Downer Alert! Read at your own risk!*****

Icky weekend here. Seems like all I've heard/read about lately is illness and death. So sad and scary!

MommyP, I'm sorry about your dad. Hope he recovers quickly. I'll keep him in my prayers.

Pumba, icky weather down here too. Bright side: it's supposed to be much better for the next few days. Yay!

I could use a little yay, I tell you. Things here have been not so good.

Over this past weekend, the following things happened:

1. Former roommate's mom died after a brief fight with liver/gall bladder cancer. She was 71. I spent most of this evening helping my friend write her mom's eulogy. Not an easy feat, since the mom was a difficult person and treated my friend pretty shabbily. :sad2:

2. Member of DH's extended family died after lengthy battle with prostate cancer. He was 56. Extra suck factor on that one, since his wife is now left alone with an 11 y.o. daughter who has Down Syndrome and needs constant care.

3. My cousin's dad was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. Doctors are hopeful because although it is a fast-growing mass, it doesn't appear to have spread. They're hoping to remove it all ASAP.

4. A friend of our family here in town was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a sizeable mass removed late last week.

5. In much less life-threatening news, Natasha was bitten by a tick yesterday! When I found it, it had begun to burrow into her scalp! We took her to the doctor to be sure that the whole tick was removed. She's on antibiotics for the next few days. *shiver!* I really HATE ticks!

Finally, our pastor announced his retirement yesterday. We are sad because we really get along well with him, and I think he was a large part of Natasha's interest in becoming an altar server. :sad1:

I am hoping that this week brings me better things than the weekend did. I could use a bit of happy!

Sorry to be so gloomy! And thanks for letting me rant.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled posting........

WOW, Lynt, that's a major load of crappy news :grouphug: Hope things get better soonishly. Sure is a lot that stuff going around lately:mad:

Nicole asked tonight if I had letters from my mom, which I do. She wants to have a tattoo made in her handwriting that says something like "I love Omi". She also asked if there was a will or a piece of jewelry she can have to rememer her by. i doubt there was a will, and certainly no money, but she did have some jewelry. I feel funny asking my brother about that since he has been paying for her for all these years. So Im not sure what to do. But Nicole was close to my mom, she came over every year since the kids were born until about 2000 or 2001 when it got to be too much for her, but the kids went over to Germany a few times. Not sure what to do.
Also trying to find a hotel near the airport for the last night. Seems they are either super expensive or sold out, so I have some work to do. Haven't booked the hotel in my hometown booked yet either, I am hopeful that there will be room in a small town in November......... but I should get cracking on that too. I guess we could always sleep in some model cars in my brother's car dealership if all else fails, LOL.

In other news, DS called tonight. He said he looked at the cruise site today, and the balcony cabins came down a ton in price. He booked a Jr. Suite because of the extra space, but now we would save $1,000 with the balcony cabin. Not sure if we can change that.

wow you guys have alot of stress to contend with..

Prayers for your friends and family that are gone or battling the dreaded C disease...

Marita.......I think you should say it like it is......."Is there some sort of keepsake that Nicole could have of Mama ...She was very close to her and would like something to remember her by." I am sure that your brother could find something that Nicole could have. We (five of us left) all took keepsake items from mama when she passed away. We each have a tourmaline stone that we can either have put into a setting or just keep...When my MIL passed away, she had diamond earrings and a gold necklace (picture Mr. T.) we figured out what it was paid for and then divided the cost and I have the necklace and wear it when I go out...and the earrings are in my granddaughters ears...we all had diamond earrings already..so she being the first great grandchild of hers...got them....she was very happy..
No ava today so I am still in my housecoat.

The flu vaccine was not last night but is Wednesday. So I will wait until then to have it......oh well.....I could go to Walmart and get it but somehow that does not excite me......I would rather go and get it in a CLEAN environment.....hahaha....
Hope you all have a great day and be good for goodness sakes...

Lynette-- That is a lot to deal with in a short time. I hear you on the priest leaving. We had that a few years ago and most all the alter servers disappeared. We hung in there sometimes the things he does we shake our heads but he is still great and made some great changes.

Marita-- I would just ask your brother, you never know until you ask. Can't your brother help you make arrangements there for you, wouldn't that be easier to find a hotel or room.

Pumba-- are your flu shots free there? Ours are but we go to the doctors or clinics for them.

And speaking of Walmart I am heading here to find black finger gloves for Hannah. She is going to be a black cat at Guide camp on Friday and save the cow costume for Trick or Treating.
