can you say POOPED....

We Did have a great Christmas with half the family. Our granddaughter brought her laptop so my hubby could install Windows 7 on hers.....he got a trio pack so that three computers would have it......well her computer was not happy and hubby was up ALL NIGHT....trying to fix it for her as she had to go back today. We bought her this computer when she graduated from high school ...so it was three and a half years old......He was still fuming at 8 when I finally got up and I saw the look on his face.......I got the newspaper and passed him the best buy flyer....he ordered her a new one and she picked it up on the way up north.....NOW at least she will have a faster one for her last three years of school....She did so awesome this semester...smart cookie....3.8 gpa for her first semester of pharmacy school...

We are in for some wicked snowstorm........I did tell you last year that I am not a snow lover......ten to fourteen inches is to much for me .....so most of everything will be closed tomorrow...hubby has the next week off ...so he will remove the snow while I stay inside ......

have a good day and stay healthy and happy for the new year....

Hello, everyone! Glad to see that everyone's Christmas went well! We had an amazing holiday too!

Big Daddy bought me a Kindle! Very exciting, since I read SO MUCH! :cool1: Boris and Natasha each got their own netbook from Santa, as well as loads of other loot. And my Christmas Eve and Christmas Day soirees went extremely well! I can't remember a better holiday, in fact!

At this moment, snow is falling at around 3 INCHES per hour! :scared1: The whole state is experiencing a blizzard, and thousands of people have no power (thankfully, we are not among them!). I'm glad the schools are closed for the week! Unfortunately, DH (who was supposed to have tomorrow off), was forced into working tomorrow. That means he'll be out in this miserable weather all day tomorrow. :sad2: The weather dudes are predicting 18-24 inches of snow by the end of tomorrow. Urgh. And also blech!

Pumba and Lynette, I was thinking of you with that horrid storm, BRRRR!

Happy everyone had a good Christmas.

Lynette, hubby got a Kindle too, it will be forever unless some set it up for him:laughing: Same with the blue ray player he got. Both were from the kids.

My house is getting to look slightly more to normal. still got boxes all over the place and stuff waiting to be return. I'm sorry, but Christmas just means STRESS to me :rolleyes1

The weather today (and this week) is frightful around these parts again this week. Another 3 day freeze where hubby has to go in at midnight, and this supposed to be his day off. Wind gusts of 40 MPH today.
I feel for all the tourists! Luckily I just have walk from the parking lot to the office, but still. I broke out the longjohns I got for the Germany trip to wear tomorrow, LOL. Nobody can tell under long pants, can they?

Nope, Marita - no one should be able to tell if you're wearing longjohns under your pants. Stay warm!

Well we didnt't get any snow here over Christmas. Still good driving weather, which is a good thing because we are on the move again today. This time it is closer to three hours away to see hubby's Aunt.

Marita--tell it to get the cold weather out of it's system before I come down at the end of Jan. I didn't think Florida would even sell long johns. :lmao:

Moo-- Saw all the snow in North Carolina on the news last night. Is Mari still with you?

Pumba-- I am pooped to and I think I am getting a cold because of being run down. All the stuff before Christmas and now all the running after. I will be so happy when the end of Jan. comes and we are cruising.

Hiya ladies! We survived the storm quite nicely, despite ending up with 19 inches of heavy, "heart attack" snow since last night. Poor DH still had to go to work this morning. Since there's only on-street parking near his office, and there's a parking ban in effect in that city, he had to walk to the nearby train station and take the commuter train into work at 5am. :sad2: It's after 6pm now, and he just called from the train to say that he's on his way home now....poor guy!

The kids and my mom and I have been hunkered down in the house all day. The winds gusted to 50mph during the storm, and there was lots of property damage in the coastal towns, but I don't even think we lost any trees. I'm so thankful for that!

Lynette - Glad to hear you rode out the storm OK. Hope your hubby makes it home safely.

Nabbie - We had Mari home for an extra day due to the weather, but she left for NC at 6:30 this morning and we haven't heard from her yet. Hubby and I both feel pretty nervous when she does that drive. Hope to hear from her soon. I'll post when we hear from her!

Happy everyone is home safe and sound and survived to storms. I was watching the news tonight, so pretty frightful stuff. We are supposed to have our coldest night of the season tonight, brrr.

Don't know if any of you heard. A 69 yr. old man walked out in front of a bus right here at Port Orleans yesterday at 5:30, out of the blue from a median, apparently. Bus hit him, and it was full of people. They ended up airlifting him out, but he didn't make it. The bus driver was cleared, but what a traumatic experience for all involved. It also closed off all traffic for 5 hours. Very sad.

2 more days of work this week, then I can relax for my last 2 personal holiday before I lose them, then right back into another forecast next week, first one with the new girl in the office.

BTW, tonight is the 1 year anniversary of the "Soon to by 2010 edition" of this thread.

Have a great night!

Marita - I read about that on the Community Board. Sad . . .

When my daughter was at college, she was on a bus that hit and killed a pedestrian during a heavy rainstorm. It's a pretty traumatic thing to happen all the way around - especially for the family of the person who was hit, but also for the bus driver and the passengers.

I am back to work tomorrow and Wednesday. Not too thrilled about the prospect.

At least I got to meet my cousin for lunch and a little shopping today while she was in Michigan for Christmas. She's heading back to Florida on Wednesday. She heard about the chilly weather down there, but at least it'll be warmer than here!

My Christmas dinner was a huge success. I blinked twice and it was over. The problem with hosting is that you miss out on visiting. It was pretty crazy. I have a big kitchen and everyone seemed to want to gather right in front of the area where we were trying to cook. The goog thing about that was we got to hear the conversation and add to it at times, made it tricky to move about, but we managed. We being me, my mom, my SIL, and sister.

The chocolate fountain was a hit and crazy enough I had to clean chocolate off of several walls.

Everyone loved the polish touch to the menu. My house still holds the aroma.

Lynette: Been thinking of you while watching the storm updates, glad to hear you are all ok. It's surprising we didn't get any of that before it hit you. Pumba is over there too?

My boys got cell phones for Christmas. I've been texted it was the best Christmas ever!

My final grades were
Mlticlt Educ in Urban Amer A
Reading: Preprmy-9 A
Int:Cogtv Imprmnt&Ed Intvns B+ (Missed A- by one stinking point!)
Instrn Strtg:Excptnl Lrnrs A

Mony-- Excellent marks.

I hear you on the blink of an eye. It has been a world wind of travel for us. Now we can relax some. Everyone is really tired.

Came back from hubby's Aunt's house we all need to get washed and wash our clothes. They are chain smokers and it was terrible. She used to smoke outside when his Grandmother was alive but now they both smoke inside. It is a killer for non smokers. At least I know neither one of my kids will smoke. :thumbsup2

I too saw all the snow the east coast it getting. Hope you guys get back to normal soon. They are calling for above temps. this week. Said it will feel like late fall. Got to love that.

Well my washer is calling....

hello everyone..

I hate snow......but I think I may of mentioned it once or twice a few years in a row.......hahaha......its white outside for sure......Hubby went out this morning and snowblowed the two driveways and one big run around the back yard for Megara.....snow is not good for skinny legs on doggies....

BUT being Mainers....our dil came over and I (and jacob the next door rug rat) we went to the Chinese buffet....Had a great time and she and I laughed our fool heads off......its nice to have a daughter in law that ACTUALLY likes me.....

Mony EXCELLENT MARKS FOR YOU......great job...

Marita ...I read in the news too about the death at Port Orleans......I was thinking of this type of problem last May when we were there with the family. I think there should be a type of fencing along the walk way towards the buses and where they wait for buses too...alot of people walk out to go to the car area at Port Orleans....scared me a few times last year.....MY heart breaks for the family and also for all that were involved...

One more party here on Saturday...It's Hubbies side of the family and I ordered finger rolls.....the rest I can handle ...side dishes and desserts..no sweat.....I WILL BE SOOOOOOOO GLAD WHEN the tree is history.....its pretty but I want it OUT OF HERE......hahaha

Moo - Yes, we enjoyed our snow! (Sorry Pumba) We probably ended up with 3-4 inches. It was the good make a snowman kind. Although, my kids wouldn't get out there and make one. I didn't blame them 'cause I wasn't out there either. :rotfl: We went to CEL's town yesterday and spent the night, and came back today and our front yard still has a good bit of snow left on it, and the high was 43 degrees today! :confused3 I'm just glad it has melted off the backyard because the one spot under the deck was getting used up by Cocoa, the chihuahua. LOL

Glad Mari made it home safely too!

Lynt
- Glad y'all survived that! That is a leeetle more snow than I would like. LOL Sorry your hubby had to get out in that. YUCK!!!

Marita - That is terrible about that man, and I feel for the bus driver. We came home today to find out that a girl that attends DD's school hung herself yesterday morning. :sad1: She is a competition cheerleader. Don't know any other details, but from the looks of everything, she doesn't seem like the type of kid that would do such a thing. :confused3 Guess you don't really know what is going on. Just so sad. Please say a prayer for the Baugh family. I don't know them personally, but as a mom, I know they are hurting. Not the way they wanted to start 2011. :sad2:

Mony
- Yay for your grades!! :teacher: :cheer2:

Nice grades, Mony!

Pumba - Snow, snow, go away!!!!! I have an artificial tree because I hate dealing with needle drop. I cut our big, fat tree down to a slim tree using bolt cutters this year and I like it much better :) We'll keep ours up until New Year's or a little after.

Allie - So sorry to hear about that girl  Sending prayers. We are due for a warm up at the end of the week, so maybe much of our snow will disappear. It has been very cold here so I'm ready for some warmer weather!

Nabbie - Sounds like you're getting the same warm up we're supposed to be getting! If we don't get any worse snow than we've already had, I'll be very happy.

Marita - I only went into work for about a half day today (just the afternoon). Going to try to make it a full day tomorrow, then I have a few more days off. Yay!

Mony, yay for your grades, congratulations! And how fabulous your party was a great success too. I don't envy you that many people in the house and totally agree on the missing of conversation and gathering of people in the kitchen, LOL. I kept saying "beep, beep", trying to carry hit dishes to the table to get through the people, LOL. So sad about that girl!

Hopefully all you snow-clogged people will get better soon. They just said on the news just now that 10 flights here got cancelled today, which is a lot better than 100's. Still going to take till Sunday for some people to get out. How much would that suck??

Nab and Pumba, glad you can relax some now.

Moo, I am the opposite of you, working Mon-Wed, but then I have 5 days off, observing New Year;s Day on Monday (hey, works for me!). I'll probably end up doing some work from home getting ready for forecast, but that's fine with me, only so much Disboards I can read....
I need to get my nails done in the worst way, never been so bad in 10 years, and get an oil change, way overdue, and take the tree down hopefully.
The girl in the office and I went to look at the Gingerbread display at the Contemporary over lunch today because I wanted to see the improvements that were planned, including $7,000 in lights to outline the display. I'm sorry to say it's still majorly lame though, LOL.
DS finally got his christmas package today but couldnt open it because DD had to work, so he to wait. He was none too happy about that.

One more day of work... I could get used to 2 or 3 day work weeks, LOL.

Hope you all have a good day.

many years ago my husband showed me what a real tree would do if it caught on fire........he took off a branch and put it in the bathtub and threw a match on it......POOOOOOOOF......it was fast and scarey......so that year many years ago we went to the store after Christmas and got a discounted artificial tree....we are on our second one now......and I know it is healthy....BUT it still drops needles here and there.....maybe time to get another one.

Today Ava comes ...I have Tuesdays off with her ...but yesterday Jacob was here and today his father is home.......go figure......cant get a day off by ourselves......

Megara is out the window yelling at people to get off her street......I laugh when she does that.....

Hope that you all have a great day....

I long for the days I will have "off" with my own children.

Soon, really soon!

Allie, that is awful! Death in a school is horrible. My senior year a classmate was shot in the head while closing up for work. It shook me something terrible. It was kids who did it and they found them several days later, the money they took they spent it on limo's, motels, and stupid kid stuff. They were past employees who got fired. I will never forget Steve. He was in my speach and drama class and a few days before that happened, we had an impromptu speach to give on fear and he did his about being held up and talking the gunman out of killing him. Just a weird circumstance.

Also when I was in middle school, there was a mom who lost it and killed her kids and tried to kill herself. If I rememer right, they had a child in the high school and some younger ones. I didn't know them, but it was all over the news and I knew kids who knew the children.

Decorating my home was a work in progress and I don't have it in me yet to take it all down. I have another week until I have to even start to think about my winter classes, so maybe next week I will start.

Maddy is sick, calling the Dr. in a few minutes.

Have a great day!

Yes it is nice to finally relax. Today the kids are having a p.j day.

We have a fake tree too that drops. :lmao: The tree will stay up until at least New Year's day. Hubby works all weekend but at least it is days and not nights.

Allie-- My cousins son killed himself last month too and no one knows why he was an honour student , had just bought his first car and was graduating this year. Everyone loved him , he was that kind of person. But then he went and did this. :confused3 So sad. That family will be in our prayers.

My house is a wreck with toys, electronics and just stuff everywhere. Should pick up but I think I will just go read for the afternoon, nice when the kids are old enough to entertain themselves.

FOR THE last two or so hours ...hubby took off all the letters and numbers off my keyboard and I had to wash them all out.....then he did the inside of the keyboard...You see......I have this problem of eating over my keyboard.....there was alot of the pistachio leftovers....yup I am a PUMBA for sure...boy this is fast now.....I usually shake the crumbs off the keyboard by shaking it upside down.......hahaha.....I have gone thru two keyboards in the last year or so.....cause the junk gets stuff and makes a mess.
He is a good guy....his week off and he cleans my keyboard....and alot of other things.....he will make the pie crust for the big pie on Friday.....Saturday is our family party...He can do it ...YES HE CAN....

see ya later gators

oh Lynette.....I posted on the cb about the longest lake name in the US.....Webster Lake....
I always remembered this name and all of my siblings and I would say it when we got to this area..on our way to Conn.

I can still remember how to say it.....oops forgot to put it in...
