Pumba -- yes very scary. I hate when my hubby works nightshift because I hear every little house noise.

Marita-- that is how I make my eggs too but never heard of the roll them around and let sit again.

I knew I made my cookies too early this year but we only have half a week of school next week then we are gone for Christmas. The kids and hubby are eatting the like crazy. I need to hide them but between hiding presents there are no real good spots left for 18 containers of cookies.

Today I am off to the church to help sort out food bank food and presents. They sort out all the toys by age then the families get to come in and shop(sort of speak ) for their kids for Christmas. It's amazing how giving people are for this toy drive.

Lynette - I've worked for my boss for 20ish years. All in all, he was a great supervisor. Today was his last day of work. My coworkers and I were all kind of sad today, but happy that he's healthy and will be able to enjoy his retirement!

Scary stuff, Pumba! Hope you get your new furnace soon.

Nabbie - I feel your pain on the need to hide the cookies. The Chex mix that I made disappeared really fast, but I did manage to take some to two different parties. I just bought supplies tonight to make some more. I'll have to figure out how to ration it :) Great going on your casino win!

Marita - One of our secretaries has been bringing deviled eggs to all the retirement parties. I hate having the eggs look messed up after I peel them, so I'll have to stick with bringing other stuff  We've had so many retirement parties the last couple weeks, we're not having our holiday potluck until January or February.

I am SO looking forward to catching up on my sleep this weekend :goodvibes

If everyone could send up some prayers for good driving weather on Wednesday when my daughter is supposed to be driving home, I'd greatly appreciate it!!! We sure don't want a repeat of last year's trip that took twice as long as normal.

Moo, prayers for Mari's weather.

great you had a great boss. we learned today that our boss is leaving right at the first of the year. i dont know the new guy coming in. i was pretty neutral on the last boss, so i am open to change.

This year we had the white elephant and lunch with a bigger team, whoever falls under VP, which this year included the Parks teams. so they divided us up into 2 groups, the Jingles and the Bells. i didnt like that too much, it made for too much division, but i guess with 64 gifts they had to or it would have taken all afternoon. i did not participate this year, no regrets. the funniest gift in my book was a 12-pack of toilet paper. both funny and useful, i love that.

Ongoing saga of my deviled egg today. I couldn't get that snap-on carry handle snapped for the life of me, it takes an engineering degree, so i ended up just putting them in a glass dish with a cover this morning.

they tasted great, but i think next year i'll just get a pie from publix and call it a day!

My left shift key is not working well at all, very annoying!

have to get my butt in gear this weekend for the party and clean this place up. And i HAVE to get my nails done, no excuses. gRrRR. you all know how much i hate that.

Happy Friday, everyone!

NAB, I got your Christmas card today..thank you so much! I still haven't gotten to mine this year. Not sure if I will. :sad2: I thought that being jobless would somehow give me more time to attend to the tiny details of the holiday. Instead, it seems that I'm running everyone else around getting THEIR stuff done!

My Girl Scout co-leader volunteered our troop to "adopt a family", which means we take their Christmas wish list and buy as many Christmas gifts for them as our troop decides. Unfortunately, she didn't decide to volunteer us until the last minute, which means that instead of enjoying my Saturday afternoon with my kids (and DH, who has a VERY RARE Saturday off tomorrow!), I'll be schlepping half my troop to Wally World on the last Saturday before Christmas. Ack!

I am still hoping to get some gifts wrapped and some baking done before the weekend is over. We'll see what happens......

Moo, prayers for Mari's safe travels. I don't mind driving familiar roads in the snow, but I wouldn't want to take a long trip in or after a big storm.

Pumba, that IS a scary story! I don't know what I'd do if I came face-to-face with an intruder in my home. For sure, it'd be a long time before I felt at ease again!

Marita, your job has just been one change after another this year, hasn't it? Blech! I hate change! Let's hope this next boss is easy to deal with and will stick around a while.

Gotta go play my turns over yonder. Have a great weekend, y'all!

Lynette-- Glad you got my card. I know what you mean. I am a SAHM and never get anything done.

Moo-- Hope Mari makes it home safe and bad weather free. I too am hoping for nice weather at the end of next week since we are traveling too.

Marita-- I feel for you this year. It will be a hard one for you.

It was very humbling doing the Christmas hampers yesterday. There were so many generous people who gave food and toys but on the flip side there were a lot more in need of the help this year. So sad.

Need to get this started :laundy: Then on to cookies. Well not be going near a mall or store today...that would just be crazy. :lmao:

Hi ladies! Hope you all had a beautiful Saturday! I didn't get any of my baking or wrapping done today, but we got every item on the wish list for our Adopt-a-Family this morning. After we were done shopping, we drove over to the town's Public Safety Building to drop off our loot, and I was FLOORED by the amount of donations they've taken in! It's so nice to see people pitching in to help, especially in this economy. But like NAB said, the flip side is that so many more people are in need this year.

Another change to my plans today: DH got called in for overtime. Not gonna complain one bit about that one, since it meant 8 hours of time-and-a-half for him!

I did manage to sit with my mom for a bit today and compile a list of what will be on the menu for Christmas Eve & Christmas Day. From there, we determined which items she'll do and which ones I'll be responsible for. I also went through all the recipes I'll be using to determine which ingredients I need to buy. So I did accomplish something, at least. ;)

The count day is on now. Only 5 days until Christmas.

I asked the kids and Joe what they wanted for Christmas dinner. Hubby of course said turkey, the kids say ham so I guess I will be making both. Kids are not fans of turkey and they just had a turkey lunch at school in which I brought home lots of left overs.

Bake, cookies yesterday and think I only have to remake the chocolate chip ones and I am done.....

Then do some cleaning ,plus get some gift cards for the teachers and I will be ready.

Today we are off to church and then they have the kids club for the kids. They will be doing Christmas crafts so Hannah is excited. Nicholas he goes for the free pizza lunch and talk to his friends.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

I'm baking up the rest of the Chex mix, finishing wrapping gifts, and (hopefully) crafting tonight! Talked with Mari and the weather forecast is looking good for Wednesday. Thanks a bunch for the good weather thoughts and prayers!

Just wish I didn't have to go into work the next couple days . . .

Hello..
Yesterday, we had our annual Family Christmas party....we had to rent a hall ...we had food up the ying yang and kids all over the place.....My hubby plays Santa and parents bring a small gift for him to call the kids up and give them their gift and a candy cane.....the parents put the gift in a large bag out of site......then when he enters he has this huge back and can hardly drag it out.

we had a great time...probably 60 people last night....I will do a count later.....My Mama loved these get togethers......so it sort of rubs off on all of us....besides finger rolls and salads and meat balls and sweet and sour kielbasa...we had chicken pot pie, beef stews, chili, mac and cheese, we had a hot dog machine that steamed the hotdogs and the buns.....kids loved that......I brought mini pastries.whoopie pies, bismarks, and chocolate eclairs....we also had crab meat mousse and chips and dips and plenty of shrimp......GOOD gosh I love a good food fest...

Today I took care of Owen and Megan while their parents went out to eat and did some last minute shopping.....had a great time as usual.......and tonight we FINALLY put up the tree.......maybe tomorrow we will do the lights....hahaha....

well, I had grand plans for cleaning house this weekend, and nothing! Well, I did wash some table clothes and made a shopping list, but that;s about all.
Moo, i hear you on wishing to have the rest of the week off, so do I. At least I have off starting wednesday.

pumba, i envy you on having a large family and all the fun.

my bil just had a huge operation to fix a nerve that had him nearly paralized. his kids say he is convinced he will die by the end of the week, but he wont. but he wont be coming to my house for christmas eve, and things are a bit crazy with all that right now, not sure who is coming or bringing what (if anything). i have a shopping list a mile long :headache: so expensive!
sorry, my shift key isnt working well, so not many capital letters from me.

hubby rented carpet cleaner today and will do that tomorrow, so at least that will be done. my nails are a mess, so i will have to get them done too.
tomorrow we have an outing with work. lunch at the turf club at saratoga. i think i'll have the steak sandwich or the reuben. unlike old times, we have to pay ourselves, but at least it's 40% off right now. Then some activity that i dont know what it is. Some friendly competition, from what i heard, im not too keen on that idea. we'll see.

Marita.....We will adopt you....always room for another kin....I am one of six kids...( my sister Juliette passed away four years ago) .and we are all married--and we all have kids...and our kids have kids. and a few of the kids kids have kids....it is pretty awesome ...then some of those kids have spouses...so we add up and have to rent a hall.

I am in my housecoat but I had to get up early to take out the trash....No baby Ava this week.....I can do a little cleaning and getting rid of stuff that is JUNK or needs to go to good will.....

Hubby and I both have new (5 years old), never worn red wool coats......you know that ones you see on tv for country bumpkins......we will put those in the coats for people with no winter coats...but still have a bag of ones for the Good Will.......

the more I get rid of the less we will have to do next summer if we find the place that meets our needs and wants....what I want is different from what hubby wants......Oy OY OY

I have been prepping my home for the invasion. Tim's side is coming for Christmas Day dinner, 50 ish people. My house is getting a good makeover in the cleaning department.

The boys, once again have been fighting, so now I have my own personal housekeepers. They are sweeping and mopping the floors, scrubbing the bathrooms, doing the windows and mirrors, vacuuming, dishes, shoveling snow, and anything else I can think of. I even told them when I run out of things to do, they will go next door and help Ms. Cate out. I am done with their fighting. They lost computer, video games and television the whole break.

I have been baking cookies, I made butter horns, walnut crescents, spritzer cookies.

my menu is: (Honey baked ham-the one thing I ordered), garlic lemon chicken, meatballs in gravy, mashed potatoes, pierogies (three kinds) which I made of course! kapusta and polish sausage, corn, 7 layer salad, rolls, shrimp rings per my father in law who is funding this posh event, assorted pies yes I am making those, and a Happy Birthday Jesus cake, I borrowed a chocolate fountain and I thought that I would have marshmallows, pretzel rods and strawberries. Not sure what else I can offer that won't turn color. A few of Tim's Aunts will be bringing desserts or apetizers.

I had to rearrange my house to fit tables, but I think I am almost ready. My house has never been this decorated, but it looks nice and festive.

I can't wait to take my last final in the morning so I can get that worry off of my mind. My prof in my Winter on line class already opened up her class for those who want to work ahead, that is totally nagging at me, like I should be already doing it. I am such a nerd!

Time to feed the rugrats snack!

Hello! I am at work for another hour and a half and BORED! What are you all up to?
:)

I had the invasion yesterday. We had (I think) 30 people in my mobile home. It went well and my house was not a disaster afterwards, amazingly enough.
Whoa! they added spellcheck to the dis! I had no idea!
Is it goog? Does it accept all of our creative words from days past?

I need people to shop for. I invited breadman and his kids over, so I've got to shop for them, still - but that's about it.

Hello stranger! I see breadman is still in the picture.

Did you have Christmas early then if you had 30 people over? How is your Mom?

What are butter horns? Like a butter tart?

Sorry the boys are at it again. Nicholas gave me a hard time a few weeks ago and I made him clean bathrooms.

Good luck on your finale tomorrow.

I think I am pretty well ready for Christmas. Nicholas volunteered me to make meatballs for their potluck lunch on Wed. Why couldn't he have signed me up for cookies. I have those ready to go....

Spending the night watching Christmas shows with Hannah. Nicholas at the church tonight at a Christmas party for the youth group.

Nab - My mom is good. We had her side of the family over for Christmas. Sunday was the only time everyone could be there, so it worked out well.

Yes, breadman is still around - we're still not really dating, just hanging out. :confused3

Pumba, thanks for adopting me, Ill be up for the next big feast:laughing:

Mony, wow, 50 people, i dont envy you. my 20+ frek me out And all that on top of school, yikes!

CELERY, goog to see you over here again. Don;t ask what we;ve been up to. come post more often and keep up

Went to lunch at the Turf Club at Saratogo today. I had oniion soup and a reuben (paid on own) It was OK, I have had better. After that we went for a team builder at Disney Quest, at least it was inside, still cold outside. I did the Pirate game where you shoot at ships, but sat the rest out. Nothing too exciting, but it wasn't work either. Tomorrow we have a lunch working meeting at some el cheepo chinese place offiste, lunch is $4.25. A break anyway. Then I have the rest of the week off to finally get my butt in gear and get the house in shape nd go grocery shopping and get nailss done (eek).

DS called tonight, he had alert at the missiles hours away. THey came to helicopter them out, cause the roads were unpassable with the snow. -4 in Montana tonight, brrrrrrrrrrrrr!~ We have a crazy schedule for the family this year, with about everyone working, so we dont know yet when we will do the christmas opening of presents yet (via Skype with my son).

Morning all,

Two days of school left.

My bakery is closed I think, unless I decide to make hubby apple pie for Christmas. It is his favourite and I hate making pies so he doesnt' get one often. It would be a nice surprise for him but I am not promising anything either.....:lmao:

Have to go out and get the gift cards for the teachers but that is really easy that is why I left it to the last minute.

Hannah has a Christmas party at Guides tonight, might send in some cookies for that . They are exchanging $5. gifts. It is like a white elephant thing I guess you really don't know who will get the one you bought.

Marita-- Glad your getting out and not stressing over work. But you are going to be out shopping when it is crazy.....My dad used to to this all the time. He would go buy his liquor at noon on Christmas eve. When he could buy it any other time. But nope on the busy day of the season. And here you can only by liquor at the liquor store , beer at the beer store. Not in grocery stores.

Well better get to it.....

Butter Horns: ‎1 cup butter cold, 2 cups flour, cut in together, add an egg yolk and 3/4 cup sour cream mix well. Divide into three parts. Then on the side mix 3/4 cup walnuts chopped, 3/4 cup sugar, and a teaspoon cinnamon. divide into three parts.
Roll 1st dough part into a circle and cover with 1st part sugar nut mixture. Pat into dough some. Then using a pizza cutter cut up like a pizza, then you roll each section like a crescent roll. bake 18-20 min. Easy and one of my favorite cookies. I got about 50 butter horns out of this.

Day before I made Walnuts crescents, delicate cookies that got knocked over in their container while boys were fighting and ALL cracked or broke in half. Two hours wasted.

I posted a poll over yonder.....
