That's a real mouthful, Pumba!

I had a lovely sleep-in and am enjoying a lazy day at home. Yay for the New Year's holidays!

oh Lynette.....I posted on the cb about the longest lake name in the US.....Webster Lake....
I always remembered this name and all of my siblings and I would say it when we got to this area..on our way to Conn.

I can still remember how to say it.....oops forgot to put it in...

Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg

I have heard of that lake! There is a local news personality who loves to talk about spending time there. I think he just likes to show off his ability to pronounce the name! ;)

Allie, that's awful about that poor girl! I sure will add the family to my prayers.

Mony, what's the matter with Maddy? Hope she's better quick! We thought Boris was coming down with something yesterday, but he seems better today, thankfully!

I haven't started de-Christmasifying my house yet. I want the decorations gone, but I have a significant lack of oomph to get it done. *sigh*

hey you guys.

My get up and go ...got up and went.......I love to say that phrase.

Ava is getting her gear together as today was my Friday....I love those days....hahaha...tomorrow clean and cook and later tomorrow night go next door to our neighbors for a little New Years cheer.....good thing is ....no one is out worrying about others driving.....although one year I slipped on the ice going from their house to our house....the ice was on my side......ROFL.

Hope to see you later....thinking of going to Margaritas with hubby

Hi all,

Had a nice sleep in too today, then read the paper, then calamity hit!

My router would not for anything connect to anything. After fiddling around for an hour and unplugging an replugging everything, and trying to see if I could get on either hubby's or Nicoles pcs to see if it was my pc (couldn't log on to Nicoles and couldnt find the browser on hubby's apple). i finally tried connecting directly to the modem, which worked, but impossible to work from. Found a number to call the router people. Anyway, in the process, I completely unhooked the router for about 30 minutes (I did this before), then rehooked it up one last time, and finally it worked, Hallelujah!!!

Anyway, very frustrating start for the day. Then I worked a while, did some dishes, interrupted by hubby and kids getting food, and did a bit of reading online.

My great plans of getting nails done, or undoing the tree, or getting an oilchange went nowhere (surprise!!!)

Oh, came to find out tonight that the new food processor I got for xmas is not working, grrrrrrrrrr. Plug it in, push the button, nothing! So now I have to call tomorrow to see what's going on....

Marita - You may just not have the bowl and lid locked on completely. With mine, which is a Cuisinart, if it's not put together absolutely correctly, it won't run for safety reasons.

Lynette - I'm not quite sick of my Christmas decorations. I usually leave them up until well after New Year's  I may go shopping for some better ornament storage boxes this evening, though, to make putting things away a bit easier. I usually put everything in individual Ziploc baggies and it would be a lot quicker to have some nice storage boxes so I don't have to do that.

Yup, my food processor does the same thing. If everything isn't set up just so, you get nuthin!

Moo, I keep my ornaments in big ol' Rubbermaid containers. I line the bottom of the container with tissue paper, then place a single layer of ornaments, and then another layer of tissue....kinda like ornament lasagna. It's a good way to keep everything safe without having to coddle each individual ornament. Because really, that'd be a GIANT reason for me to put off putting my stuff away each year.

I asked DH to bring the containers up from the basement so I can begin putting everything away tomorrow afternoon. Whether or not that actually happens remains to be seen.

ETA: A few months ago, I told y'all about a friend of my family who underwent a series of surgeries for breast cancer. I just got word that she just received a cancer-FREE pathology report earlier today. I burst into (happy!) tears when I found out! Just wanted to bring some good news over here, and thank those of you who remembered Miss Ellie in your prayers for me!!!!

Great news for your friend, Lynt!
I'm going to attempt to put ornaments tomorrow too. My usual timeframe is February though, LOL. I'll try to do better this year.

I made sure the bowl was locked in tight to hear it snap in place. I guess I'll check the blade tomorrow. I've had a technically challenged day today, sigh!

Lynette - That is fabulous news about your friend! I actually went out and bought a couple ornament containers tonight before I saw your post. I got two containers with rounded receptacles to put my "ball" ornaments into and I'll use my old divided container for my odd-shaped Hallmark ornaments. They should all seal up nicely and I now have a cupboard upstairs to store them in instead of taking them down to the basement.

Marita - If you're having a technically challenged day, it probably is best to try again tomorrow!

I used up some of my Christmas baking supplies tonight to make some peanut clusters and another batch of Grand Marnier chocolate mousse for NYE dessert. Can hardly wait to have some more of that! I still have a pie shell and some pecans left so I may have to check with Mari to see what recipe she used to make the chocolate pecan bourbon pie for Christmas Eve dessert  It was amazing!!!

why is it.....my day to sleep in and I wake up like the alarm had gone off in my head.....geesh...so I did lay there and thought of all the things I have to do today.....another food fest tomorrow......so ...Have to do the two pasta type salads....make the blueberry pie and hubby can do the crust for the biggie....then I will do the cook and serve sugar free chocolate pudding/pie mix ...eleven cups of milk and six boxes of the pie stuff..
the crust for the blueberry one is my kind of crust.....roll it out type already made to order......hahaha.

Hubby and I went out to Longhorn restaurant last night.....good thing it was a GC type of night....its not that I am cheap but if I am going to pay that much for a meal.....we may as well eat in DISNEY......the honey wheat bread was hot and the butter was whipped.......very good.....then the salad was very very good.....I love the way they cut it all up...and the prime rib was RED and I mean RED....just the way I like it........we got the 16 ounce I think it was and I took a slab of cow home with us.....it was delicious....the flavor was very good....reminded me of the prime rib at Le Cellier......wish I could of had the pretzel bread and cheddar cheese soup too......hahaha....but it was a nice night and we had an outstanding waitress....Hubby tips accordingly and she deserved the 20 percent......cant put that on my restaurant board......NO DISCUSSING TIPS.......hahaha.....we are good tippers ....as my mother when I was growing up was a waitress so she could spend days with us and daddy took care of us at nighttime....she made me appreciate that waitresses work hard......when we grew up she went back to the Selective service and then transferred over to IRS......both scarey jobs ...

I am so happy that your friend is "FREE" of the dreaded Cancer.....I think that is why I have been so down this holiday season.......I miss my sister terribly and then MIL and MOM.....sort of put a damper on my season.......I dont let anyone see it....but it is sort of down when having a holiday without them.
have a good day my friends

Sounds like a yummy dinner, Pumba! And that is going to be one GIANT pie!!!

Hope everyone has a lovely New Year's Eve
party:

Ours is going to be pretty low key. I made another batch of Ghirardelli chocolate Grand Marnier mousse for dessert tonight! It's been really hard to keep out of it

Pumba-- Where does your husband get a pie plate that big?

Moo-- that mousse sounds yummy.

We are having a quiet night here. Hubby is working all day until 8 and then works for the next three days so I doubt we will even make it to midnight. I am pretty tired today myself, caught a cold and can't stop coughing at night. Need to get better our cruise is 30 days.

Must say the weather here is really nice temp wise. Very green around here. We are 5 or more above zero...it could be spring. They are calling for rain later tonight so I hope it is after the partiers celebrate the new year.

Nabbie - 48 degrees F here in Michigan. Had to turn our heat down!

Did you see in the news about the vandalism at Bronner's? $40,000 in damages to the outdoor displays. Fortunately, they caught who did it. Five guys aged 17-21. Sad.

Grand Marnier Chocolate Mousse Recipe

Try it - you'll LOVE it! And it's very easy to make. I heated the milk in the microwave (<2 minutes) and that works fine. You can probably substitute other liqueurs or liquids for the Grand Marnier.

1 C semisweet choc chips (Ghirardelli's are the best!)
2 T sugar
2 Eggs
2 T Grand Marnier or Cointreau
3/4 C hot milk (I used whole milk and heated it in the microwave)

Combine the first ingredients into the blender...you'll put the milk in last. Be prepared to pour the hot milk in, immediately put on blender lid, and turn on high for 2 minutes. Pour into wine glasses or a small glass bowl and chill. It will thicken in the frig. Top with whipped cream.

Madelyn wound up with just a viral infection. She had an ear infection prior but still stayed sick almost the whole time on the anti-biotic. What the concerning issue is, she has a perferated eardrum. No drainage, no crying, so back to the ENT we go with her.

I got some really scary information from Z's dr yesterday. His blood pressure is really high. She wants him on a low sodium diet. She laid into him on his eating habits. Its really hard to get him to change his habits. We've been on him for a while and it is a constant battle of wills.

So, he went grocery shopping with me today, which was a nightmare, I swear everyone in Monymonyville is at the local Kroger. I was showing him based on labels what he usually would eat versus something healthier with less sodium. I loaded the fridge healthy, totally healthy and the family is going to do this together. Exercise included. We are ringing in the new year as a family with healthy intentions and goals. With my school schedule this sememster, I am gone 2 nights a week instead of days, so that will allow me to handle this for us. If I don't, it will never happen.

Lynt: so happy your friend got good news!

Happy New Year everyone! I pray that the new year will be good to you all. It can only get better right?

Pumba DH's pie and Moo's mousse both sound yummy!

Mony, good luck with healthy eating. Yeah, Nebo got the clap from BBN of all people :sad2: New installment due tonight!

Nab, I have no clue yet what to make with the food processor, but I wanted one cause they look so cool on the cooking show. Throw in stuff, pulse, voila! So I have been casing out food processor recipies this afternoon. I found one for peanut butter cookies that sounds really easy. Not that anyone here regularly eats them, but I happen to have all the ingredients on hand, and hubby is a cookie monster, so I might make some tonight. Also considering tossing some cream cheese and olive/pimentos into it and blend (not that I need a food processor for that, but flaunt it if you got it, LOL)

Oh, by the way, the issue was with the lid, apparently that needs to be really tight too, that's why it didnt work before. It's fine now.

Low laying evening for us too. We ordered pizza this afternoon. No doubt hubby will be asleep by 10, but I will probably wake him up for the ball drop, after which he will go straight back to bed.

Happy New Year, Moovers!:rockband:party::dancer:

Moo-- That is easy, will definitely have to try that. Sad about the Christmas store. No sense to that at all.

Mony--What a great way to help Zack. Did they give him anything for it or they hoping the diet change will do it all? I know how to eat good it is just to do it and if I am the only one in the house it really makes it hard to stick to it. What a great family you have to do it together for him.

Lynette-- so happy for your friend too. My sister is battling cancer again , so it was a rough Christmas. She had thyroid cancer, they took it out last year but they didn't send her for chemo after so now they think it spread in other parts of her body. :sad1:

Nab......the pie plate was my great grandmothers.....it is stoneware from the old days.....but it is HUGE.....I tried to see if I could find a potter that could make one but they said it would cost a few hundred....and I thought......NAAAAAAAA pie isnt that important to me......My grandmother said that her mom would only use it on Easter and make a custard pie in it.......but hubby has made alot of types.....one apple pie was a ten lb bag of apples and two more big ones.....the cherry pie was five cans of the cherry stuff....His grandmother was thrilled for this one.....he makes a custard that does not whey in the middle even......the one that people ask for most is the chocolate cream pie......we always did the sugar free fat free chocolate cook and serve by Jello......that was because my MIL was a diabetic and she could "justify" eating this after big holiday dinners......I sure miss her......

we have most of the food ready for tomorrow...I will add the miracle whip to the pasta and shrimp macaroni salad.......and then add the italian dressing to the other pasta dish......pies are done and finger rolls will be picked up tomorrow......chips and dip are in waiting....just have to make sure I remember to put it all on the table when the time comes.
WHich reminds me ......have to make the deviled eggs too.
Have a good night my friends and Happy New Year to you all....

Lynt - Happy for your cancer free friend. :thumbsup2

Mony - Sounds like a good family plan. Hope folks up in monymonyville get to feeling better.

Marita - Best to leave the appliance with the BIGCHOPYOURFINGEROFF blade alone! :) Try again later! ::yes::

NAB - {HUGS} for your sister!

Ok, our weather is CRAZY!!! Last week we had a lovely 3-4 inch White Christmas, now tonight we are supposed to have severe storms with a threat of tornadoes!! Only in the SOUTH!!!:scared1:

Hope everyone has a lovely HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!party::dancer:

The Allie household just finished the game of LIFE! Whew, glad that's over. lol I love playing with the kids, but I am always the banker, and I get confuzzled over how many PayDays each player has passed, and make sure all the rules are followed. :rolleyes1 We went out for an early dinner, and I am cooking "snack" foods for later. I still have Monday off, then back to work on Tuesday. I have missed my kids and my coworkers. It has been a good break, but I am ready to get back at it. Plus we have a new girl starting on Tuesday, so that should be interesting.

Looking forward to 2011! Although, I remember when DS was born and we figured out what year he would be a senior, 2011 seemed like a LONG way away, and now here it is! I am so happy for him, and the new adventures college has in store for him. Just wish he would pick a school and a major. :headache::rotfl: All in due time, I guess.

For 2011, I will try and check in here more. Now that should be a resolution I ought to be able to keep. :goodvibes

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

Hope it is a great and healthy one!!!!

:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Nabbie - Sending prayers and good wishes for your sister :grouphug: Hope you have a great new year!

Your cruise will be here before you know it!!!

I had lunch with my cousin who lives part of the year in Florida last week and she asked when I was coming down to visit her and whether I was going to Disney anytime soon. I need to get my credit card under control so I might be able to do that later this year . . . hopefully, by Food & Wine Festival time! But I'm trying to save up my DVC points so Mari and I can stay at the new resort in Hawaii in a couple years for her 30th birthday.

Allie - MSU and Alabama are playing today . . . I'm surprised that we haven't heard from Lil G about that!!!!!

Pumba - Have a lovely day with your family :) I'm having a low key Saturday here at home. It's nice to have a quiet day. I'm just eating up some leftovers

Mony - It is scary to get news like that about one of your kids, but healthy eating will be good for your whole family! I'm particularly bad about eating low sodium, but if you ditch frozen meals, prepared soups and chips/pretzels/cheese popcorn (if you even have those at your house), I think those are some of the biggest offenders.
